I honestly think I've never been angrier at a blueberry. So much rage! The only time I've ever seen Victor on enemy side he wasn't running lr Never fought him either. But have fought Aero to a stand off where we ran out of ammo and time, have run against Levithunder, did fight Mortedeamor once...... walked away crying then came back in a tank.....

Did some further testing of short-range damage output. Looks like you now do 100% damage to shields as close in as 2m. (at point-blank range it drops to like 98%)
Now, that's not 120%, so it represents about 83% efficiency; Full damage still doesn't kick in until further out, but it's more like 40-50m instead of the old 60-70m.
Will update the main body later, may need to do some further confirmatory testing to make sure the armor/shield difference remains consistent. Don't see why it wouldn't but always best to be sure. Still, looks like you could still use the LR to get rid of shields and then finish off armor with an SMG at basically any range now.

I honestly think I've never been angrier at a blueberry. So much rage! The only time I've ever seen Victor on enemy side he wasn't running lr My average game modes played during the month. Dom: 5% Amarr Fw: 20% PC: 75%
i really don't play as much as i use to because of school and work. I generally just log in for a few hours after work and get pulled into PC's then hop off for the night. I do use the laser rifle now and then, i love it but it is a very situational weapon and when running for Amarr FW i generally don't have the luxury to sit back and pick people of my laser rifle. Since most random in Amarr FW are useless i got to go in and do the dirty work. But i have been known to pull out my officer Laser rifle when im in squad with other Amarr players in FW(does not happen often, generally solo). I also pull out my officer laser in PC matches at times, but my assignment in PC are generally in spot which is high priority kill target so i can't use them during top tier PC teams because the kill order would be sent almost immediately from the enemy FC and i don't want to risk all my laser in a PC.
Also been entertaining myself with manging a EVE corp and EVE PVP lately.
Also do to having a life now i'm getting bad at dust. But throwing ISK at my problem like i generally do still makes me look good
Many people who love the laser rifle also are supporters of Amarr FW, that and on a rare occasion Cal are the only two factions i run. So yeah it's not going to be easy to run into me unless you play for opposite side of FW or join in PC.

Personally Ive never used the flaylock so it's hard to say. It's been a bit lackluster since it got nerfed into the Stone Age last year (saw that coming and so never specced into it), but I guess it would be fine if it's something you ordinarily use and have success with.
Realistically, as long as you are comfortable with it, most any sidearm should be fine. Magsec might be a little odd since it's also a long range gun and you'd be better off trying to offset the weakness of the LR with something better at close range (always toyed with the idea of a LR/shotty commando but never actually did it).

However, it really goes without saying that you should laz0r any Minmatar you come across! That is the standing order all we Templar fall under.

Aero has other commitments at the moment and can't play, Pig won't player without Aero and I, T12 has to run PAUX, Maikyl has work, Aisha is MIA, I'm not really enjoying Dust right now given the state of HAV so I'm usually off somewhere in Poland driving a Panzer VI H1, etc...........

I'm either farming infantry in ambush like the scrub ass tanker I am (according the forums and apparently the design philosophy of CCP) or sitting there looking at vehicle modules trying to ******* think of ways to fix them.

Bumping this excellent guide to Amarr Light Saber
Well done OP.
It was covered in his comments but it bears repeating. The Laz0r is an area denial weapon best used when cover for the enemy is scarce and you have the correct range. It also works well to harass those pesky rail rifle pecker-woods but don't get cocky as all they have to do is back up to 110 meters and you're screwed and they are not.
The Laz0r is one of the few weapons in Dust to require real skill when confronting a squad of reds who mean you harm. The current batch of pray and spray weapons all will curve to kill you but not so with the Laz0r.
Blueberry!....Make yourself useful and shoot the blurry thing running this way!

A very nice guide, even learnt one or two new things here. I've been using the LR again recently and its a good weapon in mostly good shape right now. (At least from my pub match trails)
Btw CQC dmg has been buffed a bit right? Its not quite as pathetic in CQC as I remember, though still not a close range brawler weapon, of course.

Yep. I never really got around to doing any comprehensive testing before I basically stopped playing, but from what I could tell, it does 2-3x the damage it used to (to shields at least). up close.
Originally it was meh closer than 50m and totally useless inside 30m, there was essentially an 75% damage reduction at that range. You'd do about 30% damage to shields at 30m.
Currently you do 100% damage to shields at 40m... still a reduction from the 'base' 120% but not bad. I never tested armor damage but assuming they just shifted the damage/range curve to the left and widened the optimal instead of completely changing the thing altogether, it should look something like this:
(these numbers are all very much approximate and rounded off)
30m or less: 80% shield, 60% armor (inside 5-10m it drops off a little more)
40-50m: 100% shield, 75% arrmor
So, still not amazing in CQC but nothing to sniff at. I'd still switch to my SMG inside 30m pretty much every time, but more so because their shields should be gone by then.

I think I would still switch to my SMG inside 30m pretty much every time, but more so because their shields should be gone by then.
Thanks for the heads up. That information would seem to correlate to what I have been experiencing when using the LR in battle.
Yes swapping to a sidearm up close would be good idea.... only "what sidearm" "what SMG" I've been using dual lazorz BP on this Roden Commando BP I found recently lol
