Once Uprising arrived, the LR was nerfed pretty bad, it overheated at 40 ammo left with the basic suit. I tried so many times to get to work that I just gave up on it. I did a respec and started playing with the CalAssault and the Rail Rifle. While it's fun I just miss my LR. It's a weapon I wanna really master and be known as a deadly LR player. I think I'll start speccing into AmAssault and LR once again. I have 1m SP left that I think I'll start spending on them. My past build: Assault ak.0 3 Complex Shield Extenders 4 Complex Ferroscale Plates 1 Complex Shield Repairer Viziam LR Toxin SMG Flux Grenades Ammo/Triage Nanohive I choose shield extenders because of personal preference: it helps tank hits when they see your beam and you're trying to be in the optimal range, which is more medium-long range and it's Rail Rifle territory. Ferroscale Plates because the LR works great when out in the open, so you gotta be as mobile as possible. Also sometimes you wanna get to high places asap.

First of all, this character is still in the low SP range and I was wondering what would be the best way to skill up: Maxing out my suit for the heat bonus, maxing out my laser for it's cool-down bonus and upgrades, or leveling them evenly? Secondly do you think that it's viable to use the laser in mid-to-close range areas (mostly relying on a sidearm), or do you switch to a secondary light weapon for maps that call for it? Lastly do have any remedies for the sickness I feel whenever I see somebody with a rail rifle? Thank you, and sorry if any of this was already covered in the thread and my eyes didn't pick it up. I'd also basically switch to a sidearm 99 times out of 100 when the target is inside 30m (maybe 40). There is no cure for rail rifle sickness, unfortunately. Arguably the best kind, my friend, but living on the other side of the pond you may not be familiar with our American "I'm in a diabetic coma but it was worth it!" pies that are pretty much candy with a crust... I don't know that many British desserts but maybe you could think of it like a trifle but with chocolate mousse and peanut butter filling instead of that unnecessarily healthy fruit stuff.
