Also, keep in mind that the vast majority of the people going to Fanfest will be Eve Online players. Many of them have still not played Dust yet either because they don't have a PS3 yet or because they just don't care about Dust in general. In fact, they often view Dust players like how you would view a roach.
Besides, Eve Online had rough beginnings as well and many of the visitors will likely be early veterans who have been around in the old buggy days of Eve.

If dust fails who do you think foots the bill? EVE players. They do have a vested interest in this game, and I think someone has to ask the tough questions in front of a microphone. Be prepared for a very political answer though.

Fanfest is going to be great. I got some inside info: they're going to show us what the racial suits for ALL races look like! (Leaked image) The CEO has this great line cooked up too:
"The racial suits are coming soon, and that's not soon with a TM."
We may even get them before 2014!

Don't make us Dust babies look like jackoffs to the EVE players. CCP can only do half the job when it comes to the connection, the rest of the work belongs to the players. You help turn them off from Dust and you could essentially be aiding in destruction of the game.

if we get everything they promised within the current 5 year plan i have no problems with that. you play a game like eve and you learn to be patient for what ccp says they are going to do. for the most part you get everything although some of it is slightly different than originally stated but no one can see into the future and know how things will eventually work out.
be patient or whine. it makes no difference to me as long as we eventually get what they promised in some way or form. last thing we want is getting what we want rushed in and screwing up the game
I will logi the s* out of you

okay let me ask you a question right here right now loud and for all to hear.
what do you think they're doing? do you honestly believe that they take any joy in failing to deliver? you say they're are developing "slowly", but if they could do it any faster do you think they would? making a game is like construction work it can only happen so quickly and there is a point where nothing will speed it up. I think people often forget that this is a JOB it's WORK you work 9-5 and go home. if you're running behind schedule you pull overtime but even then you can only do so much. sometimes **** happens.

I'm going to read you some quotes about Eve Online in the Eve Online: Into the Second Decade collector's edition book, maybe help you reflect on how stupid this goal of yours is going to be.
"CCP talk of expansion packs and add-ons but if they can't even introduce many features that were promised from release do we think we will ever see such a thing as a first-person option in the future, despite the fact the developers once said in a CSM that this was on the agenda?" ~ Barnett
"The game'll be dead in six months. Mark my words." ~ Elan Dochin
You're literally going to go down in history as the laughing stock that players a decade from now will say, "Boy, does that guy feel stupid."
Listen bro, I used to be like you (hell, I still joke about this very thing) but what you have to understand is that CCP Shanghai made the same exact mistakes that CCP Iceland made.. Over-hyping concepts and designs that were not even close to being finished, unrealistic and half-thought. They, like all human beings, learn from their experiences and I can almost guarantee that they won't make that mistake this year (I've even got permission from the CPM to virtually choke a ***** if they do).
Holding onto past experiences should be done for the lulz. It should be the sarcastic running joke that's meant to semi-politely jab at the guys at CCP in a way similar to, "Hey, remember when we did -THAT-? Remember when we made that terrible decision? Boy were we young!" but it should never be used as a grudge, lest you not only make yourself look like the world's biggest, most self-entitled douche (I mean, really, who are you to tell them how to run THEIR game?) but it also serves to accomplish nothing but demoralize the developers who, just like you, are trying their best.
Now, take a step back and think about how this is going to go over.

Right, it couldn't hurt to ask what happened and what the implications were which they'll most certainly reply that the game was riddled with bugs and the reviews generally were mixed, saying the game -felt- lifeless. Asking these sort of things in a non-douche way can certainly be healthy, if done correctly. I don't really see a problem with asking what the specifications were, hell I'd honestly like to know myself =D

To extend on your argument, I'd like to add on this:
If anyone went and looked at CCPGames.com and looked at all the positions they're hiring for the Shanghai division, they'd know that CCP is doing everything in their power to turn things around and speed up the development process. I think everyone needs to understand that these guys have (up until the recent holidays) been burning through -monthly- point releases; that's no easy task and I'm sure all of the developers have felt the grind from that.
Then of course there are members of the community that chastize them for having extended holidays... With that kind of acid-spewing, you can't immediately wonder why CCP is more often silent then not xD

You guys realize that when CCP created eve online they were basically a start up, right?
Bringing up the long ass evolution of eve has no bearings whatsoever on the development of Dust. With Dust they have ten years of experience, deep pockets, an ability to attract real talent. Those strengths didn't exist when they started out with Eve.
It is a straw man's argument devoid of logic to compare the development of Eve to Dust as if Dust should go the same route. From a business standpoint, it is utter failure to take ten years to develop a successful product, especially when you already went through that struggle. It implies that nothing was learned and Eve was a fluke they probably can't replicate. It also means they are going to lose a lot of money for apparently no reason at all.
sorry- It's just maddening to hear people compare the two. Past success doesn't insure future success.

Other than the fact that they have ten years of experience... with Eve. Deep pockets that went to a TV series, comic book series, FPS, White-Wolf merger, World of Darkness and EVE: Valkyrie - the ability to attract real talent is negotiable as well, CCP is pretty independent. They're not backed by EA/Ubisoft, afterall.

Technically CCP has absolutely NO fps experience. Their only experience is in the mmo and card game market as well as making awesome trailers. That's it.

Dude, from a business standpoint I could pick your little list into pieces. I get that you are a fan. I am too.
As a business person, casting a cold hard eye on this, my point stands perfectly. You aren't making any points to buff your standpoint, but in fact, pointing out why I am right. Let's do this exercise, try to separate your entertainment perspective from the whole situation, and pretend you have your whole fortune invested in Dust.
Now think about it for awhile, and tell me why I have a point. Just for fun.

That's really good to hear. Can you please look into moving the scout registry back into general form the locker room? A lot of us players that specialize in the scout role have a lot of information in there, and we help out new scout players all the time. We'd clean it up so it was more approachable as well.
As an aside, I'm really happy you are on board. I am not familiar with CCP Rouge, but I've had more confidence in Dust's future since you've showed up. After the past year, I'm looking forward to you guys kicking some ass.

Where are your promises of the game you so richly described last year here at Fan Fest??? Do you have better ideas on what you promised us last year that you could not deliver, Is that why it is taking you so long??? How come you could you not deliver anything you promised but two new racial Assault Rifles, and a patch completely untested by your community, delivery date of said patch TBA, with the introduction of a full set of changes and the "Other Half" of the Racial Suits.... What can you tell us "This Year" that will keep a player base that has fallen off because of a severe lack of "New Player Experience" and a lack of delivery? I'm going to read you some quotes about Eve Online in the Eve Online: Into the Second Decade collector's edition book, maybe help you reflect on how stupid this goal of yours is going to be. "CCP talk of expansion packs and add-ons but if they can't even introduce many features that were promised from release do we think we will ever see such a thing as a first-person option in the future, despite the fact the developers once said in a CSM that this was on the agenda?" ~ Barnett
"The game'll be dead in six months. Mark my words." ~ Elan Dochin You're literally going to go down in history as the laughing stock that players a decade from now will say, "Boy, does that guy feel stupid." Listen bro, I used to be like you (hell, I still joke about this very thing) but what you have to understand is that CCP Shanghai made the same exact mistakes that CCP Iceland made..

From a business standpoint: If youre frogking strategic goal is to make a well rounded, attractive, popular MMO ruled by balance and to fix problems as they arise, time is irrelevant. They've planned for this 'game' (EVE) to continue on near indefinitely at this point.
DUST taking the slow road proves that they've learned far more than what they lead on from EVE, and its going to take time to replicate, due to a whole host of problems (staffing issues, inter-company communications, language/time barriers, and absolutely abhorrent/impatient community)
Protip: If DUST wasn't sustainable, would they still be working on it at this point? (Business standpoint says no)
All said and done, DUST will become something the lot of us can be proud to say we actually 'played'

Lol at learning mandarin Chinese. While I can understand the point around it being "difficult" to relocate talent from overseas (I myself was expatriated from the UK!), I have to disagree with you on the whole. There are incredibly talented people both at CCP Shanghai and in China as a whole.
Online computer and mobile gaming has taken Asia by storm. Having traveled around China and Korea it has been mind-boggling to observe people of all ages glued to games. I visited 5 PC Bangs (net cafes) on my recent trip to Seoul, because I'm a nerd like that. :)
Finally, DUST 514 isn't meant to exist "within" EVE Online, but more in the EVE Universe - important distinction. :) We work closely with our buddies in Reykjavik.
Edit: Mandarin Chinese is hard. I'm taking regular lessons and still suck pretty bad. But it also hasn't hampered my ability to communicate with anybody at CCP Shanghai and, as I mentioned on another thread, a lack of fluency shouldn't deter to anyone looking to apply for a role at the studio!

:) Finally, DUST 514 isn't meant to exist "within" EVE Online, but more in the EVE Universe - important distinction.
Well this occurring within new Eden is the general idea. Mercs are conducting planetary warfare and transferring ownership on behalf of capsuleers funding personal wars. I thought the vision was me being able to look up, see, and communicate via headset with the capsular in the Brutix fighting off the other guy dropping orbitals on me so I can take the planet for him. all happening in real time in one universe. If ambulation is ever finished being able to leave my quarters and walk past pilots and sitting in my Corp headquarters and watching ships undock from the station, answering a holographic conference call with a corporation so we can discuss a contract.-áWithout eve dust doesn't really have any role to fill in my opinion. It would just be another fps. If this isn't the case I seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of what this game is trying to achieve haha.
I think seouls a bit different from china, it's already an established gaming Mecca, it has good Internet and lots of gamers. It's hard to picture a country that had a decade(+) long ban on foreign game consoles having adept people experienced with ps3 development. Wasn't really referring to the talent part, more so experience on how to bring out the best the cell has to offer. I'm sure there's talented people everywhere. I just find it an odd choice. There are people with years of ps3 development experience, and none of them are in china unless they've been flown in.-á
Regardless it's nice to get a blue tag response for once. |

Thank you for shareing and sorry if I sound jaded.
Even in Closed Beta it looked like no one was really looking at feedback? I.e. in the 2012 E3 build we had Dropships that were easy to fly and it was GREAT!! What did CCP do?? They messed with the way dropships flew despite NO ONE wanting any changes!!
The problem is it looks like no one is paying attention to feedback? I.e. I posted( in build 1.6) about why rail rifles needed such good hipfire, range and damage since these three factors made it look like another return of the OP tac ar but I was told to STFU by a CPM.
I posted about very fast tanks in 1.6 and was told it was all lies and then we saw it was all a true horror story.
I posted about that nerfing the swarms range by such a large factor was a bad idea but was told to be quiet.
I posted asking CCP why are tanks so fast? and got zip for responses and in fact not even a we will look at it soon blue response??
Its things like these that make folks look at the PS4 line up in response.

Its not just PS4 games people will be turning to its PC and Xbox One as well especially any kb/m players who are left they aren't going to stick around and continue to be ignored and **** on patch after patch especially with competitive style games on the horizon like TitanFall, Destiny and Elderscrolls Online..

Titanfall is just call of duty with mechs and it's not even an exclusive game, destiny is just a halo clone with boring looking gameplay and a wonky art style and the elderscrolls is going to bomb because of the insane price. 60$ game plus 15$ a month subscription? Now add in microtransactions to that plus the fact it's going to be awful fetch quests with mediocre skyrim style combat and it'll be f2p and soon dead like swtor. Monocle gate messed eve up too. No one likes microtransactions in subscription games. It took people a few days to come back to dust from that clusterfail called ghosts. |

there are still high quality shooters and games out there. BF4 is a very dog game, it is the only game from EA I play. It is 60fps looks nice and a hell a lot of fun with friends. Yes it is pointless and dumb, but it is fun to play and that counts more right now. DarkSouls2 is about to come out as well. And please don't talk about the other game like destiny like you allready know them. I'M skeptical as well, but we will see how it tours out.

I know this is way off topic but I can't stand unintelligent ignorance first you don't know **** about Destiny no one does yet, second you obviously don't know what the he'll you're talking about when referring to micro transactions in Elder Scrolls Online the devs have already crushed that rumor.. And im sorry $60 is expensive to you because the $100 collectors edition has already sold out at multiple retailers so much for no one playing elder scrolls ? Set your fanboy aside and realize if Dust devs dont pull thier heads out of thier ass no one ia going to even think about playing Dust in the months to come it has already been happening among vetrean players and teams .. |

I might be wrong but this is going to be your first Fanfest isn't?
Do you honestly believe for a moment that you'll be the only one saying any of this? The Dev's all love Fanfest but it also terrifies them as well. For three days and a few nights in the pub at the beginning of the week for those of us that go early, they are battered with questions and solutions to problems they didn't even know were a problem.
I had a very animated discussion with Nullabor and Foxfour about the pitiful corp UI on the Monday night. The round table discussions can get a little heated to say the least when the room is full of people passionate about the game.
Now as to the problems about that which was promised last year and that what was delivered, I'm amazed we got as much as we did having been present at all the dust round tables. The problems that the game had on launch with the 1.0 build of Uprising, the EP leaving, a four month gap before the new EP arrived and the reorganisation he's has to do....
If the shedule is similar to last year the keynote for Dust will be the first day at 5 and then we'll know what to discuss.
It'll be fun.

The question I would ask them, politely since I play their game for free and enjoy it, is "having played Dust for several months it has become clear that the "new player experience" and the uneven matchmaking is the biggest problem facing the community, what, if any, plans to you have to resolve this problem?"
Or "What the **** , guys?"
Because, that's why.

First off, if anyone thinks that I am going to Fan Fest only to cause dissonance or mayhem to get a story, then they are very wrong. Secondly if any think that I am going just for Dust 514, they are again wrong. I write for such a broad spectrum of outlets that any who have read so far and think I am going to jeopardize my standings with being a jerk, are yet again, wrong.
I am going to get as much information possible from everything possible, considering I only have in my budget two days to get as much out of Fan Fest for a multitude of articles. I am sure that I will not be the only person asking these similar questions, or possibly tougher questions, but I do want them to be asked.
I completely understand that writing code for any program is very difficult, nor do I expect them to accomplish every thing they say they "Would Like To See" in their near future. If they are trying to keep players interested and bring more in, then do not make a wish list so long that they can never finish.
I will never tell a company how to run their business, and you saying so is very presumptuous, but this is a forum discussion, and I do expect some presumptions to be made.
@CCPLogibro I am a contributor for more than one outlet, and do not hail from just one franchise. I do have press credentials but prefer to either ask as a fan, or allow others to ask if that is what they so choose to know. If I speak up it is because it is relevant to the conversation. Thanks. |

I think people often forget that this is a JOB it's WORK you work 9-5 and go home. if you're running behind schedule you pull overtime but even then you can only do so much. sometimes **** happens.
"There's only one rule that I know of, babiesGÇöGod damn it, you've got to be kind." ~ Vonnegut Heheh. If they can't deliever any faster, why lie to the consumers, knowing all the while you can't deliever - false advertisement. I assume it's fine with you though. no, it's not okay with me. certainly if they know they can't deliver. but honestly I trust ccp, perhaps it's a flaw of character, but I like to think that they aren't intentionally deceiving the customer. it's a judgement call that each of us has to make, can ccp deliver the product? if you say "no" why are you still here? our building is a little behind schedule, is it too far behind to be worth it? that's a question I can't answer for you. To extend on your argument, I'd like to add on this: If anyone went and looked at CCPGames.com and looked at all the positions they're hiring for the Shanghai division, they'd know that CCP is doing everything in their power to turn things around and speed up the development process.
Ya I saw that they are looking to hire plenty of programmers, why did it take them so long to figure out that they were so behind and needed better or more people?
After Uprisings release the forums were a bad place, I'll never forget how CCP screwed up so badly.

I am not that big of a figure to be in the spot light as far as my motivations but here: I'll gladly share them with you. There is no other FPS game imo on console market that features world permanence and clan centered structure. Dust has not executed either of these particularly well and has a ton of other issues. It's only accomplishment is that it has no competition on the market. This is why I am still here.

I'm not religious, so what you and God do in the privacy of your own home, and for what reasons... I'm not going to judge.
On topic: I'm just going to wait. I won't be selling my ps3 until I have a library of games on the ps4 that see more use. The development/release cycle for the console should really kick in next year, but it will take a while for there to be enough games that i PERSONALLY like. It's pretty rare that i'll go back to a game once i've dismissed it. DUST could be that kind of game eventually, but it's going to have to offer me more than a team deathmatch mobius strip first.... That gets old, real quick. At the moment i'm only logging in to spend passive SP and spam my corp mates with "random musings" emails.
I do have one friend in particular who is very, very keen about Dust at least: Plays the game every day, and looks at me like i'm defective every time i say meh to squading up.... That's some freakishly fanatical fanboyism you've cultivated right there CCP. Must be a real ***** keeping them onside... One moment of weakness and they'll rip your guts out.
I do have one serious thing to add though: Someone mentioned the acidity levels of the forums making Devs reluctant to step up? Yeah, no. CCP is a company. The Devs are employees. Devs that speak to the community are essentially CSRs. CSRs do not get to have feelings while carrying out the specified tasks of their employment terms.
Can you imagine a world where if you weren't unfailingly polite to the guy/girl behind the counter, they could just slap you? (Or living in i think it's New South Wales? where you can now be fined over 10k for being a **** to staff? Provided they don't slap you...) CCP Logibro has my respect for his unflapability in the line of fire as the "Face of the DUST Forums". I can only imagine what he really feels about us sometimes.

Micro transactions are confirmed to be in elder scrolls online by Pete Hines. 1 year of eso is 220-240$ that's expensive. Collectors editions always sell out to dedicated fans and it's not all that impressive. Define multiple? 3? 300? How many collectors editions does each retailer carry? Just curious Also I'm already critical of the devs because I've played eve and I know what Ccp is capable of, so I really have no idea what your talking about with me being a fanboy as if I'm defending them because I harbor some sort of grudge against te aforementioned games. Scroll back a page or check my post history.
Secondly and most importantly don't curse if your trying to get your point across. It makes you sound immature and petty. No point in getting all riled up because you disagree with someone. It's just the Internet. Anyway I'm here to check my replies and post about dust so see ya |

These forums are a double edged sword. They are not representative of the entire player base, just those of us who are very dedicated to the game and want it to be all that it can. Then there are those of us who are positively jackasses about things demanding things you frankly have no right to demand. That is not to say I don't agree with some of the CCP changes (looking at the logi suits) but to say they are not trying their best to make this game successful would be an understatement of the highest caliber.
You can say this game is going to die within the next year, but CCP would know way ahead of you if that were to happen. Metric data, player base, income for the Marketplace going down. Number of games played per day. This isn't something that as of December 31st everyone is "Welp it's the end of the year time to stop playing" it is going to be a graphable decline in their business projections. If there were any indications that Dust or Eve were to die within the next year CCP would be taking a lot more steps to resolve the issue.
Yet all you see on their website is job openings and expansion of their offices. You don't make those kind of business decisions blind unless you know what is in the foreseeable future. Unless of course you have no common sense in business. Eve has been around for 10 years, I've played off and on all those 10 years. I have the anniversary edition of the game. Those kind of products are not made easily and the cost that went into them had to be justified.
So while the game is being developed slower than many of us would like I still believe from a business executive stand point that Dust is still viable. All their indications are pointing to them continuing to develop the game. So how about some of you armchair businessmen focus on something you're good at instead of focusing on the business and viability of both CCP and Dust, okay? |

I still cant believe they have got people to believe that it takes 2 years to produce a suit that runs .X m/s faster and takes Y HP more damage and some weapons that vary in a similar matter. This is not even touching vehicles.
we have heard "its art and that takes time" then "the assets have be done long ago" but still nothing then "balance" that one really is funny given this game then "new EP" dont know what a change at the top has to do with producing basic content which should have been there from launch.
I enjoy this game and will probably continue to play until something else comes along and totally consumes my time. Even in the state its in I still enjoy playing but CCP really should understand that people are sick of the excuses and would just like to see progress or at least hear valid reasons why somethings arent happening.
On basic content - there are no excuses, there is no reasoning. They just need to deliver as soon as possible and then move into the new phase of building for the future expansions.

You have finite number of resources in an office. So Master Smurf for this Socratic Exercise you're going to be the office manager. You have your staff that you now need to divide into teams. Like artists, programmers and testers/balances (whatever you want to call them). You currently have multiple projects on your plate and 50 employees.
1. Introducing new content (armor, guns, maps) 2. Balancing Content (New and old) 3. Art and design for all projects 4. Managing interaction with the player base
These are just broad categories, refine them as you wish. Not every project is finished. You and your staff work on average 8-10 hours per day. You have 30 days to refine as much as you can before having to release this content. Each person will work between 240 - 300 hours per month. More if you force overtime every single day of the week. Now this your show. How do you divide your assets? |

Confirming that the above statement is NOT total bull****.
I've seen CCP during slow periods, I've seen CCP during periods where they've just been doing a s**** of communicating about work they absolutely should be sharing with the public, this does not qualify as either.
This is hands down the most productive period I've seen since taking office as a CPM rep, the studio is growing faster than ever before, and there are concrete plans guiding this process. The lack of information shared at this time is intentional (and in my opinion, for completely understandable reasons). CCP wants to be sure their communications are of substance moving forward, in sharp contrast to last year's FF where a bunch of hype was dished out without much regard to feasibility.
Once Rouge is ready to show what he's been preparing for everyone, you'll likely see the communication frequency increase sharply again (and become regular). The silence for the past few months is very specific to the current work in progress, I don't have any indication from where I sit that it will be a trend. I applaud Rouge and the rest of upper management (and the new dev staff) for being so forthcoming with the CPM about their plans, every step of the way.
There will be an end to this, that's all I can say at this time. I totally understand where you guys are coming from, I'd be going bonkers if I wasn't one of the few CCP is consulting about their work-in-progress. Your frustration is completely justified. Believe me, I was around last summer when communication was really in the dumps, and it was because of CCP employees failing to do their jobs to engage the public. I've always called this **** out when it happens. The reasons for the silence have changed sharply in the last few months however, even if the end result for public has not.
Anyways, I won't belabor the point I just wanted to stop by and give you guys what little perspective I can. I look forward to the next couple of months as everyone is brought up to speed finally on where Dust is going. And it is going places. I've never seen more investment in the game (by all measurements: financially, manpower, etc) than I have since Rouge has come on board. |

Expansion of my previous post. As I do not have experience managing a game studio. How long does it take to go from concept in an art program to modeling? How you program that new content? Is a week for each piece? How long is it for a map? Do you have to model each height object so that fall damage is calculated correctly? After all that is done and rough balance is achieved how long does it take then to get put into the real game?
The coming content how long as then been done for? Or is it being modified constantly up to the point of release? These are all things you will need to consider in this Socratic Exercise. |

What does that have to do with communicating with the public if you have staff devoted to that aspect.
So stuff slipped because changes in focus needed to be made - do you think Soon (tm) is an appropriate response for months. Then why employ anyone to fill those roles, just post soon until your next development is done.
I also dont understand how you plan to launch a product and you cant get your basic requirements in that window, not even 3-6 months after your launch????
Things further down the roadmap I will forgive and have long since stopped most of my critical posts but on the topic of basic content I make no apologies. IMO its unacceptable.

Now if things continue to slip then obviously all hope in CCP's productivity will be lost and nobody will be able to vouch for them. At this point in time I choose to listen to someone I trust who is closer to the situation than us and give CCP a stay of execution

The silence for the past few months is very specific to the current work in progress, I don't have any indication from where I sit that it will be a trend. I applaud Rouge and the rest of upper management (and the new dev staff) for being so forthcoming with the CPM about their plans, every step of the way. @ OP:
Quite frankly, most of the promises made by the previous EP did not happen because shortly after making those promises, he was no longer with CCP.
It's still unclear to this day how much of those promises were even in the pipeline or if he basically just went up on stage basically saying whatever cool stuff his underlings had fed to him without fully realizing the time and effort involved in realizing those. It's also irrelevant.
It is also reasonable and safe for anyone to assume that the bulk of the promises will not happen as stated by an EP who is no longer at the helm.
Like you, The CPM held up a lot of the previous promises during our initial meetings with CCP Rouge shortly after his arrival... Stating that it was these promises that got people excited and what made people want to keep playing. In response he said something that really hit home: "Should we really be trying to live up to old promises and goals made foolishly that left us with dust as it is now... or strive to set new goals to make it the game it always should have been?"
Not making promises without being able to back them up is a lesson that CCP is slowly learning, and one of the reasons why we're not seeing much from them recently, despite a few showerings of awesome attentiveness from a few of the devs (Balance feedback threads for 1.8, etc.) This is something we're glad for. We'd much rather have CCP delivering news of things that are actually being worked on and time feasible, than just saying whatever they can to try to draw people in because it sounds ~cool as hell~.
To echo Heinrich and Saberwing : Suffice it to say... There IS a plan, and with new leadership comes new goals and ideals. Without hearing this plan for yourselves, it is understandable for you to have doubts. Like anything... some will approve, others will disapprove. We have been in constant talks with CCP trying to nail down the details of where and when certain details get released (We're always pushing for information being released sooner than later... like the 1.8 balancing stuff)
I won't blame anyone for not trusting this faith we have in Rouge, but I can only hope that once he starts getting his stuff out there, people will share our optimism for a bright future for Dust.

Until we hear this plan for ourselves, there is nothing CCP could say that would allay our concerns for the future of the title.
Until CCP decides that the people who play this game deserve to have some idea of where the game is going and a rough estimate of how long it might take for certain things to be done, then the community will remain as toxic and cynical as it has become.
I stopped playing Eve because I grew sick of hearing SoonGäó instead of a real plan, and that same attitude will eventually drive me from Dust.
If CCP wants us to accept that they have a plan, they should provide some info. If CCP wants a community that isn't waiting for things that are not coming, maybe they should come out and say that item X,Y, and Z are off the table.
For myself, I have no faith in CCP, nor will I become some optimist based on some words posted on a forum. If CCP wants to wait to fanfest to release a small amount of info, expect that I will be laughing my ass off when the community freaks out.
There are very few developers who can get away with saying "We will release info when it is ready, and the product when it is ready" and have people place faith in them. CCP is not one of those companies. They have a long track record of completely crapping the bed, so betting on them to succeed is a surefire way to end up broke.
I am going to give CCP until Fanfest to get their house in order. By the end of fanfest, if there is not substantial changes to the way CCP informs the playerbase of where development stands and where it is heading, I'm out. I have invested more than enough time and money into this game. If CCP spends fanfest getting hteir egos stroked and saying SoonGäó, I'll gladly biomass all my characters and forget that I ever played a CCP product.
A developer that produces substandard software and then has the audacity to act as if what they are working on and its progress are nuclear secrets is the type of developer that does not deserve my respect, my time, or my money.

I've seen some footage of Hawken on youtube. Also an F2P game, although for PC. Now that game impressed me as something polished and worthy of fair competition in the mainstream market. What stops Dust from hitting the same mark? Money? Greed? Incompetent leadership? Overambitious plan that does not mesh well with resources to execute it?
Hell if I know. But those are all the questions I've been asking myself. And none of them are flattering for CCP. Whatever Dust has right now - not talking about not having cool new content - is just poor.
Balance is poor. Maps (majority, and Manus peak at the helm) are poor. Communication is poor. Mechanics ridden with glitches (can't fix sprinting glitch for 2 months where it feels like you are walking through water instead of sprinting- are you kidding me?) are poor. Competitive games (i.e. PC) execution is poor. Sound (looping on and on and on after the end of the match) is poor. Mic not working in team chat is poor.
What having Saberwing show up in the forums now all of a sudden excuses all of this? Or all of this is because of the old Evil EP and the rest of the Dev team are razor sharp pro's? This is an insult to intelligence when ppl make these excuses for CCP.

I'm becoming more and more the person you are right now. When it comes to EVE: I still pay for EVE, but eve is nearly flawless in my eyes. There are things that I would wish for eve, but thanks to the toxic and aggressive community, manipulative CSM, and other reasons this feature never going to happen. CCP is listening more to the 0.0 community then all the others, but I'm some how OK with that. I accepted that some day, EVE will no longer satisfy me.
When it comes to DUST: I no longer play it, it think my last match was 4 months ago. It's just that boring and dull for me. Seeing other shooter and how well they are done really makes me angry and dragged me away from it. When FF doesn't bring something new and big to the table, I will forget about Dust, and stay away from the forums. Like many of my friends already have :(.

Typically, I have been pretty skeptical about CCP's performance, but if CCP Rouge is as effective as the replacement EP everyone says he is, then I guess I can keep hopeful about this game. Meanwhile, I will work on my patience (this game is too exciting, and I can't wait to see everything produced, but I'll keep "trucking")

I dont trust you, I dont trust CCP. I have no reason whatsoever to trust them. CCP gave me none.
You implement something new, announce it shortly before final implementation, and get yourself a new ******* torn by the comminuty because the numbers you crunched were all over the place.
Here comes the biggest update since 1.0, and you still did not publish numbers. What is this nuclear secret bullshit?
We want transparence. We want to help you, CCP, to avoid a possible train wreck of a release, like every single release post Chromosome. We want to help you make a game that isnt a trainwreck, so that we might play a game that isnt a trainwreck.
Why you still insist on playing sekret klub is mindboggling.

I totally understand this, frankly I wouldn't trust myself either if I were in your position. There's nothing more awkward and frustrating than playing Charlie Brown for a year and having our own credibility suffer whenever CCP drops the ball on stuff they said they'd follow through with. I'm not asking anyone to take a blind leap of faith, and I have zero expectations of the community going "YAY A CPM SAID IT WOULD BE FINE".
In fact, I worry about those of you that are so quick to latch on to optimism in the face of what we've seen the last year. Skepticism is healthy. Skepticism is how we filter bulll**** and sniff out the truth. Everyone should be demanding more from CCP than they've given historically.

I dont think the issue is hearing "we are working on this and you will hear about it soon" - If they kept their word and we did hear about it later that week or the following one then things wouldnt be bad. You could have some faith because they did what they said.
When you hear that line time after time and nothing comes its maddening because you know it cant take that long to develop (I am just taling a bout a writeup now not a years worth of content) something for us to see. So you think to yourself, what are they really doing ???? Then you make a list of things dear to you that you wanted to see and when it builds up you get frustrated, to say the least.
I am not saying this to heap more criticism on CCP, just trying to illustrate to them how their fans feel and it goes sour.

Im talking about the numbers they HAVENT released. They do release info now and then, but its simply not enough.
So rifles get nerfed, by exactly how much? What is being changed? Is it enough? Do we think its enough? Do we think its too much?
Give us ALL the crunch and we-¦ll tell you if you ****** up. We have people in the community that dedicate their time specifically to numbercrunch every single piece of equipment, and they give feedback if its working as intended or if its not. Before AND after introduction they can tell you if what you have is sensible or complete waste of time.
They will still do all this if you just go full cocoon mode with your nuclear secrets, but they will do it to spite you, not to help you.
A relationship based on spite is not a very good relationship.

Ok, this count's. Some times it really upsets me, if the DON'T talk about something, like the community is begging for PVE information the last half year, and you don't get any info.

A huge promblem is that they spend a huge amount of time changing systems and not improving them. Lets take aiming for example it was perfect in Chromosome despite AA not being in the game at that time, what did CCP do? They changed a perfectly good aiming mechanic and ruined it then wasted countless more man hours changing aiming until finin ally they released AA. Through it all aiming was never improved and players were left having to suffer with CCP's bad decisions up until now. One can only imagine how much time was wasted in changin aiming mechanics. Another big one is tanking Chromosome tanking was in no way perfect but fixable now its just a mess. Once again how much time was put in to tanks for them just to utterly fail over and over again. This is coming from a beta tankers who saw thr vechile changes all the way to the most recent quote "fix". The reasons we havent seen so much promised content is beacusr CCP has been busy breaking systems that worked in closed beta. CCP has been their own biggest block to DUst becoming a growing enjoyable game.

Go ahead and read it every statement. Everything sounds like damage control and another promise of changes coming for the better.

You have to understand, ccp is still adding content to Eve, and to Dust 514. They're even working on Eve Valkari. Just be patient

So far, but it's mainly an idea they are selling. Slowly ( too for slow me ) their product ( Dust 514 ) is becoming more and more like the idea they sold , but time is running out.

Why don't you play your game? Read your forums? And fix your product?
(also Sniper Rifles, you increase EHP, decrease damage mods, since 1.0 no updates to this apparently perfect weapon?)
and depending upon the answer received..
