i would say this is a "BUG" fix, not an overhaul to matchmaking, since it says "bug fix". its probably a fix for, sometimes it would put a squad in a match vs zero players and never add any enemies. |

that's what i thought but every ambush i've done in the past hour hasn't had corpmates on either side and it takes a lot longer to load... usually i'm getting spawn camped by NS right now...

One issue that needs to be fixed though that has been around for a while, and happened to me in my very first game today, was getting deployed into a game on the losing side that is just about over, is over, resulting in no gain and my time wasted. My first game took me over 3 minutes of waiting to get in, with the result of just getting the option to spawn in as the battle ended. I got a grand total of 0 ISK and 0 SP for nearly 5 minutes of being messed about.
If a side is below a certain percentage of MCC armour/clones in relation to the enemy side, combined with the enemy in control of a certain percentage of null cannons for skirmish, the game should be red flagged by the program to NOT deploy new players. As to where that control percentage is set should be able to be drawn from all the past game data that ye, CCP, have said ye have reams of.
For people with limited time to play overall this is an infuriating issue that could very easily turn into the straw that broke the camel's back. I'm not one of those but even I have shut down the game when I've had two of these type of deployments back to back. YES, games need to be populated to as full an extent as possible for as much of their duration as possible, but, at a certain point it has to be admitted that fresh players being deployed WON'T help the battle situation.
I understand that what ye did today was a deployment bug fix rather than a matchmaking tweak, and I see the issue I've described as being another(longtime) deployment bug that badly needs fixing. |

@Vee I think the spawn system in ambush is currently broken making it harder to fight back after the first wave of spawns gets killed. Scanners can easily find the new spawn location that will keep spawning the entire team within a 50 meter radius until the match is essentially over.

Judging from the posts here, it doesn't look like it did much to fix the problem. Well, at least CCP tried. This sounds like something that's far too deep for a simple bug fix to address. This might need a complete overhaul.

There is no fixing one sided FW battles actively...
You improve the loot the LP store offers to try and entice some people but thats about all you can do.
FW is setup like a kiddie sandbox with hard set limits. Want your races FW to be better? One thing CCp does give us is alot of Social tools to organize a good FW channel and start recruiting merc's from pub's into it. |

It's just you can't bugfix to force players not to tank spam/proto stomp its gonna happen anyway

stop trying to be clever with proficiency puns when ur trolling proficiency skill is 0...i've been running ambush solo all morning and have seen the corps u listed on opposite sides... and in at least 75% of the matches, the clone count for winning teams was below 75% of the starting count... i don't know if i'm just getting really lucky here but these close battles is worth the wait for me...
i'm gonna miss the empty battles though... i was getting paid 200k isk to absolutely suck at flying gorgons for 15 mins...

People seem to be missing the point here. I know the original post about downtime today said that it was a fix to matchmaking, but what CCP Saberwing has posted in this thread is to agree with the fact that it is a fix to a deployment issue not matchmaking. It didn't fix stacked squads of high SP players vs a team of low SP solo players etc., but it did attempt to fix the issue of being deployed with just a couple of players at the start of a game against a full enemy team, and NEVER getting any reinforcements to fill out your squad for the rest of the game.
It's baby steps but I'll take it. Any progress is good progress and all that jazz

Well when 1.8 drops it seems LP uplinks will be significantly better than ISK Proto links, this may incentivise more PC players to play for the Amarr. That's something at least :) |

I've got a fix for it. Take all players with all 4 faction warfare boxes checked and turn off all factions besides their starting race. If they didn't pick their factions themselves then they automatically get selected to fight fit their starting race until they pick a side. Bam, FW noobies are evenly spread, and teams are balanced. |

Balanced in the sense that the numbers seem to be a lot more even, at least in ambush. Not EVEN teams in the sense of SP or capability.
Duna still being a scrub with his squad of unkillable tanks (Well virtually unkillable) proto stomp squads too but yea its better CCP so thanks for that. Any improvements no matter how small are welcome.
BTW I found a nice little trick to **** off Duna, or at least make myself feel 'special'. If he is on your side ruining the game, follow him in an LAV. When he jumps out to call an orbital, steal his tank and proceed to drive it into the red line for destruction purposes. I got at least 2 or 3 of his tanks this way.
May I be the proverbial thorn in his side!

Here's the point though, it doesn't take much to get into the std tanks and after they nerf militia tanks those that don't already have the skills for it will get them and then you and Spkr will be on the forums constantly complaining about triple damage modded gunlogi's and at the same time you guys will boast about how easy they are to kill.

I would like to say everything is fine now, but i can't. I've tried the game with different characters with different SP, alone, in squad of 3, in squad of 6, the matchmaking is the same imo. Some match are unplayable for me, some other for the other team.
1.8 it's so secret that nobody know what will be in it, even after patch notes...

While there is no better place to be wealthy than the Gallente Federation, there is no hell worse for the poor either.

I've finally figured it out! The way to make teams even is by creating certain game servers ,such as American, Oceania, etc..., that are named basic, advanced, prototype, and militia. And you can only use that level gear or lower on those specific servers. This would forever make teams more even!

Figured it was too good to be true, judging by the responses it fell short. If they fixed the 2 vs.16 that's a good step forward but not the only problem. Squads vs randoms is still the bigger problem and one I'll keep railing against until it's fixed.

I'd kinda like to know what sort of algorithm CCP is using right now. I mean, if they're not telling us because they're worried about people copying it, that probably wouldn't be a concern since it's clearly awful... Even a simple statement like "we try to use X, Y, and Z as factors in matchmaking" or the more likely "we don't use any factors, we just slap people in anywhere" would be good to know.
In War Thunder, if you hover over the little "searching for match" icon, it openly tells you that they take into account what tier of planes you have selected, your efficiency with those planes, and I think one other thing that I can't remember. Dust could learn something from that... I think they'd want to use something like total SP, total WP, and overall KDR to match people up. Maybe if they have access to data like a character's most used loadouts and think they can use that somehow, that could work too. Also obviously balancing squads to try and have the same number of squads on each team, whether that's 0, 1, 2, or more if matches get bigger.
Yes, it would take longer to find a match, but I'd gladly wait a minute or more to get put into a good match than wait 10 seconds to get put in a stomp. And if matchmaking improves, the game becomes more fun, so more people play, so it becomes easier to create matches from a larger player pool. And did I mention the game becomes more fun?

Yeah this is a good point. Or at least force players to sign up and fight for one faction. WTF why do we need to move around? The matches are unbalanced becuase randoms take up the side with less god players that's silly. Or at least limit it so if you fight for ammar you can only fight for caldari or ammar. Cutting it in half should limit it down and create more balanced matches. Also the fights over districts right now nothing changes, this is partly becuase randoms fighting each other, where each match they are on a new faction.
Also please limit the planets we fight on to the border systems of FW to make our role more obvious and all the fancy graphs you put in the game can serve a purpose. |

I saw ZERO fix to the problem. I went into several domination matches with just one friend of mine in my squad. The entire other side was all fully squadded people from decent corps while my entire side were 90% NPC corp scrubs. Happened in consecutive matches. Plus before my friend joined me, he ran with another couple guys and all of their matches were up against full q-synced teams.

I'm more than willing to wait a while for a game if I know it's going to be a good one.
I'm NOT willing to subject myself to constant one-sided pubstomps though. Regardless of which side i'm on.
It's either frustrating beyond belief, or entirely boring.
People in general are usually willing to be patient if the experience is a good one, and most of them right now are simply bad. |

After more use of the system today, I can say that in all honesty the only thing I really noticed was that it takes longer to get into battles when waiting at the battle finder.
The teams so far have seemed to be sort of even but then that could be down to luck. |

Humm, give us another day or two of testing this out. I am not 100% convinced but as a preliminary report - I would say possibly so yes. |

Noted, and appreciated. Lord knows I've had that happen.
The biggest issue however remains -- one team with an organized squad or squads being matched up with a team without such organized numbers. These battles are over before they ever begin. That's not fun. |

You have to be careful though. Cause all squads are not created equal. If I join a random squad in squad finder even if there 6 if us it will likely be no match for a corp stomp. So if the game matches on squads poorly it would discourage me from squadding with randoms since I'd be better off on my own and hoping if the eneny gets a squad we get a solid corp squad. So using SP wgen trying to match squads or some sort of squad synergy by looking at alliances or corps of the members of the squad would be needed.
Basically a squad of random green berries likely gets its team stomped if they are treated as being worth a squad of corp mates, unless you get a really solid random squad. Those do happen, but its rare I'm not the best on my random squad. |

Question, when you say "balance by fits" are you looking into the players fittings and saying "Oh, this guy has a proto fit so he must be good" or are you actually looking into what the player uses mos often in battle? I'd wager there's a ton of people out there that have a proto fit just to favorite and walk around in the warbarge but don't actually have the proper skills to really take advantage of it.

Anyone else notice that members from the same corp are on opposing teams more frequently now?
The last few pub matches I've seen the following: Corp X has 10 members in match = 4 on my team + 6 on enemy team.
I watched my team members and the enemy (their corp members) not kill each other at the objective. These Corp X members took turns hacking objectives.
Occasionally they would kill each other if non-corp members were around.
This rarely happened during the Shinobi event, so was this caused from the bug fix?

Yeah, it was broken. If i come in with my sqd of 5/6 with 100 mil sp sqd totals, 5/6 guys with between 25/35 mil sp, it was us 6 vs EVERYONE who was good. I get that a really good 6 person sqd can be amazingly effective. When its just us 6 pushing and 8 snipers + 2 random scouts, we are not going to win vs 2 organized sqds and there blues. Im.excited to see balance. Im ok with fairness. Especially for new players. I feel bad. Steemline B to the body hour after hour. If i were new, that would suck. |

maibe, but they can add a system where if on one team there re 3 guys with 10 M SPs on tanks, the other team get another 3 guys like that...
or using data about with what anybody use to kill, same way it says to you at the end of the matches (Fav gear) |
