One issue that needs to be fixed though that has been around for a while, and happened to me in my very first game today, was getting deployed into a game on the losing side that is just about over, is over, resulting in no gain and my time wasted. My first game took me over 3 minutes of waiting to get in, with the result of just getting the option to spawn in as the battle ended. I got a grand total of 0 ISK and 0 SP for nearly 5 minutes of being messed about.
If a side is below a certain percentage of MCC armour/clones in relation to the enemy side, combined with the enemy in control of a certain percentage of null cannons for skirmish, the game should be red flagged by the program to NOT deploy new players. As to where that control percentage is set should be able to be drawn from all the past game data that ye, CCP, have said ye have reams of.
For people with limited time to play overall this is an infuriating issue that could very easily turn into the straw that broke the camel's back. I'm not one of those but even I have shut down the game when I've had two of these type of deployments back to back. YES, games need to be populated to as full an extent as possible for as much of their duration as possible, but, at a certain point it has to be admitted that fresh players being deployed WON'T help the battle situation.
I understand that what ye did today was a deployment bug fix rather than a matchmaking tweak, and I see the issue I've described as being another(longtime) deployment bug that badly needs fixing. |

People seem to be missing the point here. I know the original post about downtime today said that it was a fix to matchmaking, but what CCP Saberwing has posted in this thread is to agree with the fact that it is a fix to a deployment issue not matchmaking. It didn't fix stacked squads of high SP players vs a team of low SP solo players etc., but it did attempt to fix the issue of being deployed with just a couple of players at the start of a game against a full enemy team, and NEVER getting any reinforcements to fill out your squad for the rest of the game.
It's baby steps but I'll take it. Any progress is good progress and all that jazz

These days I mainly play Skirmish with an odd game of Domination, and only play an extremely rare game of Ambush when I'm drunk with someone else as squad leader, and I find matchmaking in general in the first two to be fairly good. |
