Confirmed. Blue tag in features & discussion page. But yep, straight up nerf to damage. Really stupid seeing as how the damage mods nerf would do the job anyways and everyones gonna be using heavies as well. A simple big increase to the hipfire disperion would've did the job too.
(low damage output of all weapons means heavies will be unstoppable, other than by cloak scout shotties.)
Oh well, everyone knew it was coming and we've long since given up on CCPs ability to balance.
Gallente starter fit w/ 3 complex armor plates has more HP than any proto shield suit with all complex shield extenders

i dont think its stupid why nerf dmg mods that may lower rr power but itll also lower everything else ie nerf everything not the rr..in that situation rr would still be op..
your gun deserves a nerf dont cry about it i would think that crying about a fotm being nerfed was beneath nyain san. even though spamming fotm relentlessly isnt beneath them.

What are cloaked scout shotties going to do about heavies? You can't fire while cloaked, so you have to decloak and hope you can get the 4+ shots to kill a heavy before he turns and melts you in 0.2 secs. |

Picture an Amarr heavy with 900 shields 900 armor and the best resistances to both. Or a Gallente heavy with 1200 armor 600 shields. Or a Caldari heavy with 950 shields 650 armor.
All with nerfed damage mods.
Medium suits better start speccing ScR or CR if they plan to stay medium.

Yeah but you would need at least a prototype SG with damage mods to bring down a std heavy :/. The SG is in a bad place currently... |

We don't know how long it will take to decloak, plus it could make a nice sound that gives away your position. Plus the heavy just has to turn around, doesn't care if you get a few shots off.
I don't think 3 SG shots will do it, going to have some stacked heavies with 1500-2000 hp. |

They confirmed abpit a month ago that most weapons were getting a damage reduction in one way or another. Some more than others.
Oh, and with the cahnges to damage mods, proficiency skills, and the addition of taky assault suits and tons of heavy suits with damage reduction bonuses, it looks like TTK will be a DRASTIC change in 1.8
Can't wait :D

You're automatically a scrub for bitchin about nyain. Also I knew the nerf was coming, see my last thread. Also, the damage mods did not need a nerf, as doing so now renders many weapons useless or much less effective, MD-SR-FG-Flaylock-PLC-RR-LR-ScR etc. Basically meaning only full auto weapons will be competitive, while the HMG will reign supreme.
And everything thats ever capable of killing is automatically deemed "FOTM" so quit whining that the competitive players aren't running at you with plasma cannons. You sound like you go 1/40 every game.

Also, i practically guarantee it'll be a simple instant switch for the cloak because its CCP, adding an extra timer for balance to it is beyond them, they were gonna have you be able to fire while cloaked for gods sake.

It has nothing to do with the damage mods, and everything to do with having near equal DPS to the AR but 75% more range.
Weapons cannot have both superior range and equal damage. So long as it isn't getting hit too hard, this is much needed.
(Equal DPS to the SMG, 383 at base level, has always been the sweet spot to me. No one complains about the SMG being underpowered.)

Heavies never was supposed to be downed by a SINGLE PLAYER. They are a TANK unit. Takes bullets from 4 players and stay alive. BUT low damage output and no mobility. Heavies should just don't be allowed to carry Light weapons.
RR is OP because of Hip-fire ? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL It instant kill everything under 72m, wake up son. The spool time don't exist. The RoF is pretty igh compairing to damage. Good sight.
It have NO DRAWBACKS.
Assault Rifle : Low Range. Scrambler rifle : Overheat / 3x more PG to fit than others weapon. 20% penality on armor which is 80% of ehp. Combat Rifle : Nothing. Rail rifle : Nothing.
You're just an another scrub RR or CR who want to keep his Op weapon. Like the Tanks scrubs that thinks they are balanced while 12 players can shoot it without destroying it. |

Damage mods drastically effect the effectiveness of weapons differently. An AR has no need for damage mods, a sniper rifle or mass driver or AV NEEDS damage mods. The RR depends on damage mods to be OP up close, otherwise other rifles outperform it.
Also superior damage and range doesn't automatically make a weapon OP, if it did the laser would be the god weapon. The problem with the RR is at CQC its super accurate hipfire outshines its counterparts, meaning its the best at all ranges. Its like you said, no one complains about the SMG despite its **** poor range, because it fulfills it niche great.
Nerfing the damage of the RR does nothing for niche, its just a straight nerf. If the CR doesn't recieve a nerf as well, that'll mean at range the CR will outperform it, as well as CQC it being rightfully outperformed by other rifles. This is assuming the nerfbat is big, which it is, like 95% of the time.

I hope the changes come ACTUALLY soon instead of 10 days before the patch so we can rub it in y'alls faces that we predicted the OP stuff and you should've listened to us etc. like always do.
Also if the rest of the weapons all get equal nerfs, then that don't really make it a nerf to any specific one(well except low DPS ones like the mass driver) So i have the feeling the nerf will just be too much compared to other guns.

There's a world between 1 player and 12. Not really if the 12 guys are all like you and the one is someone normal but..anyway.
I should have said : To take out the heavy AS FAST than now. I was meaning : If there's 4 players against 4 players : Heavy should be able to take bullets from the 4 players while his teamates kills the ennemy.
I didn't say one heavy can take out 4 player alone. I said 1 heavy can survive 4 players fire BUT he can't kill them easily neither. And when i'm saying "survive" it means still alive for let's say... 5/6 sec of shoot.
Right now a single guy can take out a Heavy in less than 2 sec. |

Now the RR IS only OP with damage mods, yes i go 40/1 with it, hell I've gone 46/2 with it against a what the french squad while i was in an alliance squad, we cloned them despite losing on MCC and despite my team(and squad admittedly) doing sort of bad.
But the RR is just some long range AR w/out damage mods, and the enemy has alot more response time to get to cover, as well as it being a lot less effective in CQC. But with them, theyre dead right after they react, cant get to cover, and get killed in CQC WAAYYY quicker, also giving you a great chance to 1v1 an HMG up close.
