What a novel idea, I don't think they've ever thought of such a thing. Honestly, I think they forgot those were even in the game, we don't even have an officer shotgun. The shotgun has been in the game since day 1 of Mordu's Private Trials, yet they don't even have an officer variant yet (same with the swarm launcher), yet the AR, SMG, and SR each have TWO officer variants. |

But only to say "we'll fix it" then focus on the problems with Nova Knives instead for a couple of hotfixes before actually solving the Shotgun problems. |

Believe me, the problems with the shotgun started long before that.
They had hit detections issues from day one, in MPT there was actually a bug that made shotguns sometimes do 0 damage. That took a long time to fix, despite it being a fairly game breaking flaw, over time it's just become the usual method of dealing with them. Just let the issues sit until there aren't enough people using the shotty to make much of a fuss about it. |

So taking a step back to look at suits, the temptation of assault suits is growing ever bigger. now that I have a bit better grasp of the pg cpu use for the cloak it looks like Caldari assault is what i may be running with. It will be a very tight fit, so much so i might even have to do only 2 shield extenders and one dampener just to fulfill the cpu requirements. hell even pg is gonna be a tight tight squeeze. The Galente scout screams at me ever more in my dreams. the new pg/cpu outputs put it well above the current assault caldari proto and the thought of using the one high slot for damming and having basically a super low signature with super high radar fidelity makes me grin. Mostly at the thought of sucker punching people when they least expect it. Looking at the numbers though the new assault skill for RoF would put the shotgun at 63.96 firing rate, opposed tot he base 85.71. may not seem like much but damn is that pretty nice. along with lvl 5 reload you get a .51 second per shell reload. There is still much i need to look into but im really liking the way 1.8 looks. If ccp would tweek the shotgun a tiny bit i think i may even want to pick up the game again. Till then though i think ill lay low and respec and see what feels right. |

@ OP - I have always wondered the same thing. Don't get me wrong I am sure at level 5, the extra 15% RoF is nice but I still think the extra damage would be a lot more useful.
(Is it 3% RoF per level or 5% I forget? I assume 3% like all other profs.) Would life the RoF to be changed to DMG. |

You probably wont remember me, (Certainly not this alt character) but I remember back in chrome seeing you running around with the shotgun scout tearing things up, that was the reason I spec'd into a shotgun scout.

Calamity and Oakley are guys. The Gallente Scout is so much better than a medium frame for shotgunning. armor plate buff and removal of team vision made that suit the premier choice for the shotgun. I don't know if Calamity has logged in since the auto-aim buff, and debuff (but still not nerfed)- Shield tanking and profile over 28dB just don't cut it anymore (and no more melee glitch.
+1 high slot, +1 equipment slot, Gallente Scout is the way to go for shotgun or at least it is for inside outposts.

because then there would be no reason to shoot ppl in the face with it.(shotgun to the face... works everytime..) |

Same goes for most of the non-rifle light weapons. The shotgun and PLC (which has a similar trend developing) are just the only ones that have never been FOTM material, unlike the MD and LR. I've been a Shotgunner since closed beta, although I wasn't always playing with Shotguns.
I know how long we've been around, and how little love we've received. All I was pointing out was that when they've broken it worse than usual, a comment about Shotguns HAS appeared from the devs - nothing about the ongoing problems, only the immediate broken-ness of that particular moment, but it's still a response. |

Yes, they do usually give some kind of response, but it always seems to be too little too late. Like you said, it is usually just a confirmation that they know it exists and that they will probably get it fixed eventually. Actually, thanks to the recent "old posts" thread, I came across a quote of what likely was the first dev post regarding shotgun problems. If I remember correctly, the fix in question didn't make that big of a difference, the mentioned SG issues persisted for a good while afterward
