It was only a matter of time before FACTION WARFARE ARMY(I feel like I just yelled that) showed up with fresh tears on the forums. In all seriousness though, there are a dozen threads about this already that you could post in. There are already corps out there that teach the basics to beginners. Check out Dust University for one. Also, most people can join Molon and get training. Each of these corps provides training for their members, and each of these corps fields multiple, capable squads every day.
FACTION WARFARE ARMY(Yeah, still feels like yelling), on the other hand, seems content with blanket inviting every player possible and leading them as lambs to slaughter. I personally would work with some of the trainer corps and/or dissolve yours and have your members join the corps that are already training capable mercs. |

Rainbow effect are a corp of under 20, so dont blame them Theres always going to be a huge gap between new people and vets because of SP and ISK This game is not meant to be fair - get that in your ******* head, this is new eden, if something is fair you arnt doing it right This game is actually continually growing so the whole THIS GAME IS DYING argument no longer works This game is always going to be like eve, a small player base that are dedicated, you are making yourself pretty obvious that you dont understand the game

The "problem" is really simple : vets got experience and skillpoints, while new players don't have any of them. Nothing less, nothing more. A first step to this would be a complete remake of the academy. You learn nothing in there. I remember that on my first day (before the academy even exist), I needed a complete afternoon of explainations and help to understand the mechanics. Couldn't have done that alone without my corp.
Do you really think we are pleased to enter in a game and be in the enemy redline 5 minutes (or less) after we began the battle ? Or in other words to roll over a red carpet ? Some people might enjoy it, but I know for a fact we don't in Prima Gallicus. We play in public matches because we need ISK, we play Gallente FW because we help our Eve pilots.
On this matter, CCP is to blame, even if I love them and I like Dust ; they should have studied a new battlefinder system for public matches which is based or on the time spent on Dust, or balance the number of SP on both sides. As a consequence it would allow for vets to have interesting games more often, and it would still make sure new players are aware that veterans exist, and that with time they would be able to acquire both skills and better equipment.
And like it has been said before, remember that New Eden is a ruthless universe. |

2 things need to happen.
1. Corp battles and Squad matches (1 squad vs another)
2. Academy needs to be available AFTER a new player is turned loose on pubs. That was if things are too rough they can go back.
Make sure Academy have tiers 1m SP group >>> 2M >>> kick out at 3m.
That's how I look at it anyway.

I feel for the new guys. Your corp has enough guys to make squads and team up. Unfortunately most of the FWA guys I see just run and gun. You can kill em and they come back to the same spot guns blazing. I don't see alot of tactics or thought put into your game play. You are easy to beat because of your predictability and lack of focus.

Good morning all, as CEO I feel its my duty to explain a few details:
Yes we do acknowlege that the low general quality of the Dust playerbase is a huge problem for the game. I mean come on, this is by far the easiest FPS to get good at I've ever experienced. You think you got it hard that game? You should try fighiting a squad of my former corp "The Buterfly Effect" in MAG 2 years ago, this is nothing copared to the stomps we did in MAG.
Having such a large part of the community being completely clueless is the biggest problem we face, its not fun to play a game for 3 minutes and then having to fight snipers at the redline for 15 minutes....
So what do we do to prevent this?
Not all of us all the time but we've started to go in groups of 2 or 3 players rather than a full squad of 6. This is IMO tthe best sollution for all. It will normally prevent a total stomp of the other team, we lost several rounds yesterday vs stacked teams and its fun and challanging to play. With a squad of 6 its not normally "enough kills to go around" and it becomes boring really fast.
And about that paticular battle, lets look at the facts here for a minute:
1. There were only 2 of us. We went 28/6 and 22/6 - not exactly 50-2 that some of us do when we're talking about a stomp. 2. You had itsAdrenalina (now a Rainbow) on your team, he went 16-3 and came on top of the list and actually got out and did something. 3. Our team wasn't any good at all. We had one dude going 16-8 or 10-3 or something like that, the rest of my team went 5-4, 3-4 and those kinds of scores. 4. You had a stacked but even more useless team. There were one squad of Burgezz and one squad of Redstar on your team that ackomplished nothing at all. 5. You had how many? Was that 4 tanks around the redline? Doing what?
I remember that battle very well indeed. I sae Spiker4thedead and Takashiro Kasutken(?) AKA EnglishSnake on the other team and I had the great pleassure of sending him the message: "Go to that big red letter and press O".
Its a great shame when the (supposedly) good and experienced players are such big tryhards that they camp with tanks by the redline instead of givinig us a decent fight. I've seen these guys play since the very first month of my Dust career, its a shame they care too much about their own stats and nothing for win right infront of them.
And yes, its obviously the big bad tryhards of the Rainbow Effect who comes in with 2 players, fight a stacked team and wins the batlle, its definately our fault that the new players suffer. From now on we should perhaps go into battle completeky alone?
Would that be acceptable?

The real problem is the match making, not the proto stomping. Why would two full squads of proto players be put on one team while the other team gets a half full squad and a bunch of players who aren't in a squad? It doesn't make any sense, especially when they're all in the same game. Why didn't the two proto squads be put on opposite sides and the holes filled in by the random non squad players? It comes down to an utter lack of match making by CCP, not a lack of players, or a proto stomp issue. I could understand this if it was FW because players can pick which side they're on, but for pub matches this should never happen.
Ex;
Squad 1 - Proto Squad 2 - Proto Squad 3 - Casuals Squad 4 - Casuals No Squad - Mixture
Squad 1 & Squad 3 put on one team. (12 players) Squad 2 & Squad 4 put on opposite team. (12 players) Other 4 slots on each team would be filled by the numerous no squad players queuing for the same game mode.
Obviously this is a utopian example. Things wouldn't ALWAYS work out this way. But if those were the given numbers of squads queuing at the same time, thats how they should be placed. Not with both proto squads on one side and the two casual squads on the other side. I very rarely see matches this way, which I think is the real problem.
Its a simple concept, I'm sure its more difficult to implement than we all assume, but isn't that why these people are game developers? They should be capable of figuring out a way to gauge certain squads and players queuing for a match and putting them in battles based on some type of criteria. I'd be willing to wait 1-2 minutes to get into a fair, good, battle than to be thrown against new players 9/10 matches.
I don't want to be accused of "ruining the game" for players because I enjoy to run proto in pub matches sometimes. I'd rather be placed against other squads in proto capable of putting up a good fight. Even if I was to switch to basic/advanced gear against those newberry/casual squads they'd still be hurting just as bad as if I was in proto. |

Instead of crying about matchmaking, how about suggesting a working solution? There's a lot of hurdles to jump as stats in any FPS are abused in some fashion. How should the game define new? Average? Protostomper? You can't just assume a character with 20 mil SP is a proto stomper. Likewise, a guy with 8 mil could proto stomp. Any mechanic that defines veteran or casual will be dissected and abused. |

Any mechanic that defines veteran or casual will be dissected and abused. I've said it more than likely a hundred or more times on these forums. Matches should be chosen by gear meta levels.
Ex;
Militia & Basic Gear - Only Militia and Basic suits can be worn, with only Militia and Basic modules/weapons/equipment. Advanced Gear - Militia, Basic and Advanced suits can be worn, with only Militia, Basic, and Advanced modules/weapons/equipment. Proto Gear - Militia, Basic, Advanced and Proto suits can be worn, with Militia, Basic, Advanced and Proto modules/weapons/equipment. (basically what we have now)
Each game mode would have an option of which to pick, similar to the way we pick game modes now. This would be a more simple way of splitting the players than something based on SP. Your point of an 8 million SP character proto stomping is valid, as is a 20 million SP player might only be running basic or advanced gear. Splitting players based on SP alone would be a poor way to create balanced match making.
One could argue there isn't a large enough player base to fill all three tiers of battles for the three game modes, but it is something that would help the game tremendously. If it didn't work out, it could always be removed. |

Bah.
I've been redlined, camped, tank swarmed, and proto-stomped. I've watched my half million ISK dropships blown to **** from across the map while being flown in. I've been shot in the back by an entire squad on a "smart deploy". I've seen terrible things and terrible people ready to exploit any possible thing they can.
It's a goddamned killing field out there and you expect civility. You have to give up that feeling like the enemy owes you mercy because they don't owe you ****. Let it scar it you. Let it make you ruthless, let the terror they spread render you fearless...or go play Animal Crossing with your ***** sister.
Seriously though, have a laugh whenever possible, and play with fun people. No one wants in a squad of people bitching and moaning.
We can pickle that.

Fixing the academy and tutorial system should not be that difficult, yet new players are quickly thrown into normal matchmaking queues with no understanding of what is going on.
I have brought some where in the area of 20 people into this game none of which made it more than 3 matches out of the academy. I hope I am wrong but it would seem that NPE of any sort has been completely ignored in favor of keeping the protostompers happy.
Below is a shameless promotion of my thread for an academy fix in hopes that further discussion in there may get it noticed by CCP.

I don't get much enjoyment where in a game after 3 minutes, its all redline snipers and no troops on the ground, its even so bad that i only get enjoyment out of the game when i am faced against 2 stacked teams solo, well a good team works aswell.
I really want this game to succeed, on PC i am sick & tired of playing against aimbots, wallhacks, noclip etc hackers, but here i don't take enjoyment out of stomping the players into the ground, but what am i to do? Play in Starter fits just to make other people that i don't know feel good about themselves ? Last time i checked, it is still an FPS game.
But ok ive done that on my alt char Cue Ckit and even with 600k sp a starter fit i still go 37/xx and while i am not overly attached to my KDR as i dont use tactics i still die quite allot, but going up against entire squads in a starter fit, or a coordinated squad is still suicide and i still like my status as a wreckingball.
Back when i didnt have a protosuit, i was going up against guys like Askull Legend and his entire team, i like challenges, sadly most people want their kills to be spoon fed, automatic & easy and everyone else should just be put on equal level so they can feel better about themselves.

FWARM Is primarily a new player corp which offers training, information on how to use SP or what works, in game tactics etc etc and seeing countless messages from different players about the exact same issues time and time again I just thought I'd share this feedback with the community and ask ...
Protostompers .. Why ?
This game DESPERATELY needs more players, if there were more players more people would spend money in this game thus giving CCP more money to improve and develop the game faster, they could hire more people and make this game everythign it promises to be yet there are 2 MASSIVE stumbling blocks this game faces
1. CCP being completely unable to understand the NPE and to implement a system to actually CREATE 1 that isn't simply 'cannon fodder for the vets'
2. The Protostompers themselves ... It's as if they actually want the game to fail ... sure I've heard excuses saying it's CCP fault we are just playing the game ... but whilst CCP are guilty pf creating a ridiculous system bathed in inbalance YOU are the ones exploiting it and actually turning potential new players away
--- I'd just like to point out to the Rainbow Effect Person who mailed me QQ after I informed 1 of his squad mates how much their actions are hurting the game ... Yes it is QQ .. I want the game to succeed and YOU are causing the exact opposite ...
My personal advice to you is this. Check out your opposition before you spawn in, if you are seriously outmatched, leave battle. A lot of us don't protostomp, we very easily could. Some of them do, it's their choice. You can put up very stiff resistance in basic gear properly skilled and fit.
More advice, you guys are not being trained, you are being farmed for ISK, nothing more. A lot of good corps out here have "real" training programs in place and you will fair much better if you moved on now before waste months of skill points uselessly.

Much as I hate being stomped .. and hate the corps that do the stomping, I can't hate the player - I have to hate the game.
Ultimately, this is a matchmaking issue. Trying to moderate it by etiquette simply will not work.
If CCP delivery new guns, suits and vehicles in 1.8 but fail to iron out the core experience then really it's for nothing.
As mentioned - I've taken to checking the teams at startup and if it looks like I'm being lined up for target practice then I'll bomb out and find a new game.
BTW - is there a quick way to get back duck out of a game without having to quit and reload?

Just spawn, go into the menu and "leave battle" and voila out you are

So you think it is fair that a 12 year old 90 pound kid should fight mike Tyson. Do you think you will get new boxers this way? Is it fun or challenging for Mike? Maybe Mike could man up and handicap himself so it is fun and challenging for both and save his all out effort for Holyfield. |

I have a solution, one that I tried out earlier and one that works to glorious effect:
I entered a pub match of ambush and grenade suicided myself 49 times. Everyone on my team quit, noone on the other team got more than 3 killls.
This was awesome, I completely dictated the outcome of the battle. It's so much fun ruining this game for everyone else, just like the proto stomping d bags are doing, that I am going to ruin every match of Ambush I can join.
I invite everyone else to go full suicide all the time until the game is either fixed or deleted. |
