Can we finally remove their ability to hold light weapons? Considering how difficult it will be to bring them down in CQC being at a disadvantage in long range combat is the only way to keep them balanced.

i expect someone to come into this thread saying "hur dur. heavies should not be restricted by using only HG since this game is meant to be able to play however style you want". what is the purpose of a role if 1 suit can accomplish the role of all the other suits? |

Assaults are getting a ROF bonus for maximum 10% more DPS, and the resistances of sentinels are only against specific weapon types. So no.
Maybe if every other suit lose the ability to fit sidearms on their light weapon slots.

The fact that their resistances are damage specific is exactly why it's NOT overpowered. It allows you to switch to a different weapon type in order to kill a Sentinel which is being problematic.
I am a little curious about what is considered "Blast Damage". I don't think its specifically talking about explosive damage, so perhaps its a 25% resistance to any type of splash damage? Actually a REALLY good idea, since heavies are basically grenade magnets, it gives them the ability to tank through some of the splash damage.
Overall I'm pleased with the direction CCP is taking the Sentinels, it's clever and I think it'll work out well.

While we're at why not limit medium suits to light weapons only! And scout suits should only be ale to carry sidearms! /s
Do you realize how illogical of an idea that sounds? I can carry this giant lead-spewing hose, or a massive hulk of steel that shoots big-ass metal slugs, but I am unable to carry this tiny assault rifle? While I don't personally use light weapons on my Heavy suit, we should have a choice. Why do you hate heavies? Why do you want to limit heavies to only two primary weapons? WHY? WHY DO PEOPLE ALWAYS HAVE BAD IDEAS!?

Its not even the effective HP, its that they get a 15% resistance to one type of damage on either their shield or armor (not both), and a +10% resist to another type of damage on either shield or armor (not both)
So the bonus is only applied to a part of their total HP, and its only against two of the five damage types. If a particular sentinel is difficult to kill, switch to a different weapon. This is actually great because it encourages squads to run different damage type weapons so they're never stuck against a heavy which heavily resists the same damage type.

Except that the trailer themselves say you don't have to be restricted to the use of one suit to preform a certain role. A heavy will still be slow so an assault can easily out run him or get behind him if you smart. Dust is meant to be played how YOU want to and not be restricted. The trailer

While I would agree, the Minmatar Commando bonus uses the term "Explosive Weapons" which makes me wonder that if they meant "Explosive Resistance" why not just say explosive instead of Blast?
Then again they're still using the term "Kick" instead of "Recoil"

Why can I carry three grenades of only one type but not mix and match? Why is commando and BE scout able to carry 2 light weapons but assaults can't? Why can't I duct tape a nanohive to my back and have perma triage repps and constant ammo. Why is there a 6 vehicle limit? Why does a vehicle have to be brought in on an RDV but can teleport when its recalled? Why does being on fire not hurt vehicles?
Balance is far more important than logic in videogames.

You're right STB is the only corp that calls in tanks and uses protogear in pubs I call in soma's to weaken enemy tanks then I jump out and finish him with Lai Dai's. This thread isn't about STB or tanks its heavy's using light weapons so go troll elsewhere.

Tell me something Carlos, if I had a module which allowed my dropsuit to resist 100% of Thermal and EM Damage, but I took full damage to Kinetic and Hybrid Rail, how would you go about killing me?
