So in other words, you've made a post complaining about the bonuses the Sentinels might get, when you don't even understand the basics of damage types? Damage types exist in Dust too and they're very important.
Get informed before you start complaining about things you don't understand, k?

Heavies are super slow and with a 6 inch vertical.
Meanwhile, the HMG and FG are better choices than a lot of light weapons at their respective ranges, so they would be gimping themselves not to use them.

Sure when I see a protoheavy i can switch weapons to counter that heavy but that means I have to be skilled into every weapon type which means I'm about 20mill SP away from that or I use a STD verison that perfectly counters him and he just laughs because he has close to 2000HP and out ranges me because he has a rail rifle and he can survive the RE I trap him with or he survive the 3 core locus I throw at him.

Or you run in a group where each member of the fire team has a different damage type do you don't have to skill into every weapon, this is a team based game afterall =)

What you should really take away from this is that the weapon, suit, and fit that you choose will never be effective in every situation. There are some fights you simply will not win because your enemy has the direct counter to your particular fit.
In the case of sentinels, you also have to take into account where the resistance is being applied, in the case of the Caldari it's getting a -10% damage from EM weapons on its shields, but shields naturally take +20% damage from EM, meaning a level 5 Sentinel is still taking +10% base damage from EM. In many cases the Sentinel bonus only serves to negate the natural weakness armor and shields have against specific damage types.
So yes, part of the time you're going to find a heavy that is going to resist the weapon you're using and you're going to get smoked, and the rest of the time you're going to find heavies that DONT resist the weapon you're using, and you'll do jut fine.

This thread isn't about STB or tanks its about heavy's using light weapons so go troll elsewhere.
Your MLT tank costs about the same as my ADV heavy suit, has several orders of magnitude more firepower and range than any heavy, even one using a rail rifle, and can resist 90% of all damage types close to 100% of the time. This is clearly imbalanced - tanks should only be able to equip nova knives for turrets since they resist so much damage. It's simply not fair they have all that range with their ability to take damage, so since heavies should be limited to 40m range weapon for AP, tanks with their much higher ability to take damage should be limited to melee.
See how stupid that logic is?
This thread is an idiotic QQ thread about how you want to be able to solo heavies in every situation no matter what, which is how heavies got gimped in the first place - baddies whining they couldn't solo everything with their AR. You STB kids should know about that, it's how your precious tanks got nerfed as well. So no thanks, I think I'll keep "trolling" right here.

And as I stated earlier this isn't about tanks.

I think the real issue here is heavies derping around with rail rifles. Assault rail rifle, deadly at long range, deadly at close range, and with that high of a HP pool compensating for the lower RoF of the rail rifle, its truly unmatched!!!!!
No. I don't know, eliminating light weapons is..... iffy. I understand not liking a battle heavy derp around with the rail rifle, or ANY gun for that matter, but if you think about it, the suit has a severe disadvantage close range if its using a light weapon.
Rail rifle: close the gap and you'll have a good chance beating it because your more agile/mobile then the heavy suit.
Combat rifle: Just like the HMG in terms of limited range, except it dumps ammo way faster.
Assault rifle: Well...... if your using something other then an assault rifle you should win.
Scrambler rifle: Now that's a pickle
Ultimately the lack of mobility of these suits really hurts the viability of using light weapons on it. If they lost light weapons it would be no sweat off my back, but I don't think its "that" bad for them to have access to light weapons if they choose to.

Actually the 'Insane Resistance bonuses" are only insane if you don't have a large complement of diverse weaponry in your squad.
Minmatar will fall just as fast to Rail Rifle Amarr will fall just as fast to Scrambler Rifle
Its only when you try taking on a heavy with the weapons of the Racial Nemisis you get a SLIGHT problem.

Hi I run Hvy with HMG or forge/smg I do have some points in assault suits assault rifles etc but I don't put light weapons on my heavy, I also have no problem with other heavies using light weapons it's their choice.
Due to the fact we have been very limited on what we could spend our sp on, two weapons one suit and the HMG getting nerfed lots then made better then nerfed again then buffed again of course people are going to put other weapons onto there heavy suit.
HMG and forge maxed people want to try other things not sit on their sp, whn the hmg had huge gun flare people will switch to light weapons .
Also I find it adds variety to the game I don't believe it will effect things that much after we get the resistance

We have gotten good shooting you.with.forge guns but using those for poppi.g dropsuits isn't as.optimal as most assaults believe. The learning curve alone is rather steep. |
