FYI for everyone peering into their crystal balls (or just looking at what's on SiSi) - CCP has assured the CPM multiple times throughout the holiday season that 1.8 is still being planned out, and that no decisions have been made regarding even a feature list or approximate scope.
Yes, one could easily infer that 1.8 is going to be all about dropsuit bonus changes, or that it'll include new items, etc. etc.....but I cannot and will not guarantee that this is the case. CCP is undergoing a much larger planning process under the supervision of the new EP, CCP Rouge, who will speak about the larger direction of the game and where they want to take it once CCP has finished going through that process. This will take time, its not going to be next week, it may not even be this month......and all things considered the silence you're hearing from them about the future is completely appropriate given how deeply they're examining their own internal processes for building Dust.
This larger planning effort underway will have a big impact on what 1.8 looks like, whether its even called 1.8, when it releases, and what it'll have in it. The CPM does not have answers for any of this because its status is still "in planning" according to CCP. This isn't a situation where the CPM knows 1.8 contents and they're just NDA.....to our knowledge, 1.8 hasn't even finished being planned yet.
Yes, that's a hugely ambiguous and open-ended "status report", but its also because we have seen zero evidence that final decisions have actually been made regarding what will go in the next release. I'm not saying this to alarm people - like I said, the larger planning effort being overseen by CCP Rouge is VERY healthy and necessary, and their discretion until they've finished that process is completely appropriate. I'm not saying CCP is dropping the ball by not talking about the next release yet, its understandable given the context.
All that to say......feel free to respectfully provide feedback on the stuff you see on the test server, but at this time I have no reason personally to get fired up over these given what we know about where CCP is at with their planning. Yes, there was the ferroscale debacle before - but I really doubt this is an analogous situation. At the time Ferroscale plates leaked, CCP would have known exactly what was coming and been working on the next patch with purpose. This time around, I think its much more likely (until they tell us otherwise) that this is a case of designers needing to continue their work on projects with or without a 1.8 scoping, and dropsuit bonus problems being towards the top of their list.
The CPM discussed dropsuit bonuses extensively last summer, and many of our own suggestions are reflected in the general -direction- of these leaked bonus changes, so CCP is not working in a vacuum here. We may or may not agree on the specific details, but the broad strokes were already agreed upon internally for the most part, so I will give CCP some credit here for listening to our feedback and setting up a much more logical approach to suit bonus design.
I look forward to seeing how these evolve in the coming weeks/months, hopefully we'll still have plenty of time to fine tune details before they hit Tranquility.

Don't worry guys CPM will keep our ears close to the ground and attentive in the situation, we do welcome feedback on so far as well as open to alternatives that fit within the direction ccp is trying to take the suits (becuase I doubt we can make then go backwards on things like that). Till we get blue posts responsible on these 'products' just treat as early speculation and work in progress.

I am concerned by the tone of CCP Logibro's post which makes it sound like this was an expected and known change. While still giving the obligatory "It's the test server", it's a lot more certain than "developers messing about" IMO.

Looks like silence is finally golden in this case. For once.
It's great to know that CCP is currently re-examining their internal process. Hopefully this could mean that 1.8 and all other updates thereafter would finally have things that should have taken priority a long time ago.
Up to this point, we have been seeing nothing but updates filled mostly with things that are nice to have but are mostly NOT priority. If CCP Rouge is serious about re-examining their own internal processes, then the results of this whole effort should properly reflect the needs of the player base. Right now, as it stands, the needs of the player base are...
1. Revamping Planetary Conquest and make it more meaningful and much more stable and balanced. 2. Introduction of the Secondary Market or at least a trade window feature. 3. Implementation of CORE content like all racial suits/vehicles/weapons. 4. Enhancing the connection between Eve and Dust and make it more upfront than ever before. 5. Address lag. 6. Fix matchmaking completely (not just partially). 7. Optimize the code for better performance. 8. Allow suits that have been marginalized to finally become useful (cough)scouts(cough)
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

So here's the deal...
CCP hasn't finalized anything and I totally get that. BUT! I still don't like being kept in the dark. Looking at all the content that was shown to us in FanFest 2013 stamped with the title SOON was enough to keep me playing knowing that if I just pulled through for a bit I'd get to see some amazing new content being produced and shared with the community.
PVE, Gladiator matches, zero gravity environments, jets, it was all amazing!
Then nothing was delivered. There was absolutely no follow up or even a status report on how those process are going. Worse yet, imagine the horror I faced when I discovered the jets were already finished but are sitting in limbo until the game can accommodate them, then hearing nothing more about them for month after month.
I understand you don't want to finalize anything and share it with us, but now more then ever (especially when there is a new EP that we don't know much about) I'd expect you to recover from any sort of lack of followthrough the team has shown by at least being open with us about how production is going.
I don't care if I have to wait three years for something as long as you make some sort of effort to show me how it is going instead of blowing off my hopes and your promises because they are of "low priority."
Transparency is all I ask.

Everything on Singularity is TESTING. They are literally just throwing stuff at the wall to see what works. We'll probably never even see these.
Again, they don't even know what 1.8 will be, how they're going to work on it, or even when they're going to try and have it done.
Bascially, no reason to panic. Also, in case you didn't get it from his post, the CPM learned about this stuff at the same time we did. They were not part of this because it was labeled as "internal" and thus not shared with them.

But the issues we are seeing now shouldn't be some massive gamekillers, they should be able to be fixed in a timely manner with a group dedicated to fix rising bugs while the game is further improved with new content. Your analogy is clever, but it's also unacceptable to spend six months clogging up a hanger to fix one engine.
Furthermore, they shouldn't be reevaluating anything! Limiting the scope they promised us is just lazy production on their part. New leadership should mean that they can finally execute all the dreams they originally had, not that they should step back and just get by with what they have! Otherwise, what was the point of hiring a new producer in the first place?
They should be getting better, not playing triage month after month.

You're misunderstanding my point.
Yes, it is unacceptable to clog up a hangar for six months to fix one engine. When such a thing happens, then it is time for an internal restructuring. At that point, effort should be made to prevent any future clog ups of the hangar and make it take less time to fix that one engine while still maintaining the level of quality expected by the FAA (in this case, the player base).

Free Beers wrote:Which one of you cpm'rs thought rof and damage bonuses on suit where the ****?
None of these stat changes were made at our specific suggestion, and this is one of the first things I want them to reconsider, actually. :-P We already have a pending meeting request for a serious postmortem on the TTK issue with CCP Remnant, and now we have that much more to discuss now that we've seen these.
When I talk of CPM input, I'm referring to the general direction of the various suit bonuses* (Sentinels being made to tank, Commandos made to kill, and Logistics meant to specialize in various racial equipment-based roles), and the general idea of Assaults dedicated to damage dealing. I think a damage bonus in spirit makes sense for an Assault suit (if our TTK was much more reasonable), but in the current context just slapping on a flat damage boost is crazy bad for the game. I certainly hope that there are other changes planned that would allow for the assault bonus to be changed to one that specializes in damage without further breaking things, but I'm also not going to leave it up to chance. We'll be on them about this as soon as our meeting gets scheduled.
*And not surprisingly, most of the community feedback has consistently praised the general direction indicated by the SiSi data, if not some of the individual details. |

To further expand on my aviation maintenance analogy, we can all safely assume what it could mean when an internal restructuring occurs at the management level of the aircraft hangar (Dust 514).
1. Aviation technicians that have not been effectively utilized to their full potential will be put into positions that takes better advantage of their skill sets. Why is Tech. A being assigned to fix the hydraulics of the aircraft if he is better at fixing the engine while Tech. B (who is better at hydraulics) does the job suited for him? It would make sense to switch them around.
2. Where are the assistant managers and supervisors? Are they doing their jobs or are they sitting at the office playing Angry Birds?
3. Are all of the technicians and supervisors encouraged to constantly communicate with each other? If so, is there room for improvement?
4. Are the repair and maintenance jobs being performed and completed according to the standards set by the FAA (aka Player Base)? If not, resolve that issue immediately.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

To be fair, the major "triage" that they are currently undergoing is the first and only opportunity that the new Executive Producer has had to have an effect on not just the direction the game is going, but the way its getting built as well. This isn't part of a pattern, its why he was brought in. He wasn't brought in to make small changes or to fix small problems, he was brought in to make big changes to fix ENORMOUS problems.
And yes, they may need to pause and examine their development processes before things get into a groove again, but frankly I don't believe the game will survive much longer if they don't. We've all seen the slipping player numbers, we all can project the trajectory CCP's been on in terms of how fast they can crank out content, and I think we can do the math. This is why I believe the process CCP is undergoing right now is completely justifiable, necessary, and a huge relief compared to the more surface level changes we've seen to their development process over the last few months of "rapid iteration".
Regardless of what happens over the next couple of months in terms of output, CCP is serious about doing what it takes to make Dust a success in the long run, and I can say that now with a confidence that I couldn't have had a couple months ago. |

Thanks for the heads up Hans. Knowing about the existence and the scope/scale of an internal restructuring under Rouge's purview is the best thing to come out of this Sisi story, imo.
It's very good news and also gives players a rationale for resetting their expectations on the timing of 1.8. It is also valuable to know that features are not set yet and there is still time for player input.
Honest question: do you think the playerbase would have learned about the status of 1.8 not having its features set or scope set yet if not for this little Sisi ruckus?

How much effect did CPM's input have on the vehicle rebalance?
Obviously since it has been a MONUMENTAL failure, as demonstrated by the non-stop QQ on the forums since december 10th), I think the community at large would like to have either more or less CPM input based on your response.
By this I mean, if the CPM were very in favor of the vehicle changes, and even helped with the balancing efforts, then stay the hell away from the rest of game design please.

This alone is clear confirmation that CCP was having problems managing the development of Dust 514 and a result many of the things we have hoped for has suffered delays. If there were no problems with managing the development of the game, then CCP wouldn't have needed to do this re-examining process in the first place.
There is an old saying among aviation mechanics who have to deal with repairs and maintenance that have to be done according to the FAA. "If you have to take the time to correct your mistake, why didn't you take the time to do it right the first time?"
They should be getting better, not playing triage month after month.
in any profession rework is costly and time consuming. It takes time away from real progress. Imagine how far along dust would be if they just gave us corp battles and a market. They would be free to work on the things that really matter. Rebalancing new content and patching mistakes every month can't be easy. I know its taking its toll on the community constantly having to pit ourselves against huge set backs. We are constantly at each others throats trying to get our specific playstyles to be valid, playable and cost efficient. Not to mention fun again. |

The only thing I have to say is dont go overboard on the TTK issue.
I know some players keep talking about a tracking shooter etc but I dont think it is as bad as some are making out. It isnt one bullet and you are dead.
Even as a Scout if I am on the edge of a weapons optimal range I can still absorb fire and get away.
There are issues of lag, frame rate, weak tac net and sprint and terrain issues which all play into players being killed quickly. I think they could fiddle to make staying alive a fraction longer but many players have to also realize that weapons kill and you have to play smarter.
I think the remark made by the Dev about long engagements with dancing and tracking not being fun is correct. |

Only concern is RoF bonus not fitting well for so called free fire weapons, or single shot ones. Well, guess that is one way to trim the edge of autofire but sadly normal users go as well.

I have to agree with IWS on this. I have been on the forums for a very long time now and I seen enough players rage over anything and everything in the game. There are people who rage about stuff that isn't even implemented yet and is still on the drawing board. Just look at the threads covering cloaking equipment. People are calling cloaks OP already even before we get any hints on what the stats could be. So it won't make any difference if we got the stats before or after the CPM was made aware. People will rage anyways.

I agree that it would have not made much difference but it is the principle of it. The CPM is of the players and for the players and it seems, at times, that CCP doesn't care. My point was that by giving just a little notice that the CPM could prepare themselves and help calm the players, a little. I don't think that they should have any input on what was listed on the test server because much of it is just place holder and the like but I do think that giving the CPM some notice would help instill trust and confidence in the CPM but the way it comes off is that they are ill informed and moot, we want out players to feel empowered by the CPM and by blind siding them with the test server drop it kind of makes them look like they don't know what is going on.

I like the sentinel bonuses . The assault needs bonuses that promote survivability not just damage out put . They need increased CPU & PG . That was the reason that the Logi slayer was such a threat . The fact that it had defensive bonuses for survivability and that's something that the assaults need and the CPU & PG would help to make up the damage out put . Being able to fit a greater repertoire on the assault for use would increase it's damage potential without having to place offensive bonuses on their persons . Being able to take a punch in order to give one and hopefully to keep punching until you can knock out your opponents .
Mixing up the bonuses as well would help and make them more race related instead of just generalizations across the board .
Assaults need survivability to be effective in their assault . It's bad enough that playing this game consists of hip firing no needing to aim , high damage output AR's with Robo Aim Assist and TTK issues which the TTK is something that I am glad that you have mentioned . First shot winning because of some of the high DPS AR's need to be addressed as well .
Future Caldari Heavy so watch out for this Sumo Shinobi with a Caldari HMG .

I do agree with him, though - had this information been released by the CPM, we might still have raged, but it would also give faith that CCP actually cares about what the CPM - and by extension, the player base - has to say.

Ok here I go...
Personally, I am not overly joyed with the possible changes to Suit bonuses. However that being said, I am going to try to maintain an open mind. I kinda sorta grasp what CCP is trying to do with the assault bonuses, but there is definitely still room for more tweaking and fine tuning. I don't really want to get into the fine details, but I will say they're game changing; to the point(to me)that I will have to relearn Dust 514 (again).
My biggest want for Dust 514 is just a consistent 25-30 FPS on all Map, Sockets, etc...

Heinrich Jagerblitzen wrote:Galm Fae wrote:They should be getting better, not playing triage month after month.
I've been playing DUST 514 since June 2013 and it's only gotten so much more difficult and complex. I can't even imagine what it must be like for totally new players. I've recommended the game to a few guys who tried it out and quit because they said their shots at opponents had absolutely no effect on them and they couldn't get any kills (etc. etc.). They just don't understand the game and they can get into Battlefield or COD far quicker. The learning curve in DUST 514 is pretty steep and getting steeper. I once joined a corp with about 350 members, but was subsequently informed that about 335 of them had quit the game because of the usual thing, nerfs of their weapons, etc.
There's a lot of video-game competition for DUST 514 out there and more coming all the time. I absolutely love this game and the community on this forum. I can't get enough of it, well, the game anyway. I can't help but think that the most important thing for CCP to work on is to help new players work their way into the game, perhaps with a PVE sort of like Borderlands 1 and 2 or RAGE (xbox 360), something adapted to the EVE universe - not as post-apocalyptic as that. Halo and Destiny spring to mind as well.
And CCP clearly has to fix Scotty's match-making without making the game so much harder for the veterans. My gear is getting better, but the game is also getting harder. How does that work?!? I understand the purpose behind it, but it feels like a con. It's no wonder people are quitting the game. Half the time they rage-quit because they feel cheated, and the other half because they can't be bothered to spec into a new weapon because theirs has been nerffed all to hell. Every nerf should be accompanied by a respec. Why do tankers get them but not the rest of us? That ain't right!
Besides these points, I think they absolutely must address the next gen console issue; I think that they have to upgrade and migrate the whole platform to PS4, which has sold 4.2 million units to date, and let us transfer our accounts (for 10 euros perhaps? That's the going rate in other videogames). A few months ago CCP said that the PS3 had 80 million units sold so that they weren't at the time considering developing for the PS4. I hope they reconsider in time. It won't be easy to get them to come back once they lose them.

Although it took a long while, 90% of everything promised was delivered with the exception of walking in stations which they tried to do but it turned out to be too resource intensive for the majority of the playerbase's installed PC's.

I am all for reviewing the stacking penalties and bonuses to modules. I actually think it is necessary to create some diversity - and create distinctive armour or shield suit playstyles. It still seems to me that there is no reason to not fill high slots with complex damage mods then stack armour.

This is a tough thing to balance. I find simple and easy to comprehend games hold my attention for a session or two before I get bored and leave. CCP knows they need a new player experience that will help people climb the learning cliff and enough new content to keep the interest of those with short attention spans. So far they haven't delivered either of those things.

It is very satisfying to find that CCP are doing some serious internal discussion as to how to improve their development procedures for the game.
I'm usually one to rail about the lack of info from CCP but in this case it's entirely appropriate that there be radio silence so to speak until they are ready to tell us something. Besides, we really have no need to understand or to know the internal procedures of a complany like CCP. That is their business.
If by the end of this internal review we can see benefits as to the games progress in the future, then the blackout would be worth it.
As to the Sisi 'leaks', nearly 5 years as an Eve player has taught me to not to take changes on the test server as gospel so I'm not getting too excited by bonus changes until I see them in patch notes.
It's also great to know that we have an EP now who is grasping the situation by the lapels and shaking the crap out of it.

How much effect did CPM's input have on the vehicle rebalance?
Obviously since it has been a MONUMENTAL failure, as demonstrated by the non-stop QQ on the forums since december 10th, I think the community at large would like to have either more or less CPM input based on your response.
By this I mean, if the CPM were very in favor of the vehicle changes, and even helped with the balancing efforts, then stay the hell away from the rest of game design please.
The entire concept of "windows of opportunity" and such was 100% CCP's design approach, that was decided without our input. We helped with some aspects (heartily encouraging that they raise the onboard ammo available to mitigate lack of supply depots, pressuring them to include the ability to keep blueberries from stealing your vehicles when you called them in, making sure vehicles weren't exorbitantly expensive) ..... but all the individual stats were still CCP's call in the end.
In general we'd love the opportunity to have more input on the balancing details (TTK wouldn't be near as much of a mess if we did ) but the balancing team in general has a lot of improving to do on their communication with the CPM. |

Totally agree. As far as I'm concerned, the TTK only seriously became an issue when they fixed hit detection. The amount that TTK needs to be adjusted is close to the amount it was lowered by the recent changes, I don't want this turned into some stand-and-spray duel over who has the more EHP before someone keels over. Nor do I want bunny hopping to return either. The adjustment needed here isn't drastic, just enough to mitigate the lowered player satisfaction that came from the recent hit detection improvements.

Personally I'm in favour of removing damage modifiers altogether and using those free slots for increased shield mods or some sort of ECM mods.
I'd REALLY love the damage mods being changed to damage output type instead.
Getting proficiency up to 5 with its 15% DPS increase then slapping a couple of damage modifiers to increase the DPS of a Duvalle to nearly 34% is a bit much.

Active Scanners seem to work fairly well right now. Unless CCP ties the proposed Active Scanner bonus in with some planed Scout changes, the Active Scanner bonus looks like it might tip a currently balanced system.
You might want to suggest to CCP that swapping the Active Scanner bonus out for a Nanite Injector bonus might be a better way to go.

My view was to tie the damage mods to the proficiency skill. You would have STD, ADV and PRO mods for each weapon and the Proficiency skill would be an efficacy multiplier like shields and armor.
You would still have stacking penalties and this would remove the straight damage buff of a weapon. - No standard AR with Duvolle damage plus multiple mods on top of that.
It also removes the issue of training up one skill to get blanket mods for all weapons. You mods are tied to the weapons you are proficient in.

Funny - All of you jump on Nullarbor's hook.
Notice he never outright dismisses the listed changes. - Same with the other Dev who said "not necessarily" instead of "arent"
In time we will see.

You have to realize that even if it's not "up to date" or accurate, the community has spoken in what they do and don't want. They have also given you feedback while it's still possible to "change" things.
If those thoughts/feedback go unheard.......... Things will be much worse then all the conjecture currently littering the forums.

I would just like to remind everyone that stuff that comes out on SiSi is often not fielded as is. Many changes can and will occur, and in some cases, the item in question may be deemed broken or too controversial. Anything you see on SiSi should be taken with a grain of salt.
That being said, I've played Eve for 5 years now, and I've generally found that if something is on SiSi then someone on the dev team wants to test it. However, I'm not aware of a way to link the SiSi test environment to a playable DUST environment.
Personally, I think it is likely that we will see full sets of drop-suits for all races eventually. But don't expect the stats and bonuses you see on SiSi right now to be the ones that are actually deployed. |

Thanks for the update info.
Again with the whole balancing before we have all content drama. The last two weeks have been some hysterical idiocy.
Ps All content for proper balance or continual crying and drama, pick one ccp.

I look forward to seeing how these evolve in the coming weeks/months, hopefully we'll still have plenty of time to fine tune details before they hit Tranquility.
o7 Well, get me back my friggin 2.5 million SP Minimatar Logi Hack bonus then. The CPM member who suggesting getting rid of the only Logi bonus nobody wanted to change, well, i dont have the words but i do have the asterixes. F****** ********* ************** ***********************! Yeah, the bonus that made the least sense out of all of them. That should always have been a Scout bonus.

The way I see it is this.
The current way the game is getting made sees us trying to balance what we don't have only for it to still need tweaking, it takes much longer because we are being far too careful trying to balance when we can't even account for in game variables.
Or ccp could draw up basic stats, do the painting, release it all and go from there seen as we'd be able to see how it pans out in game. I'm sure it would see the most crazy/op/dysfunctional bugged pos era of dust there would ever be but I reckon it'd be far quicker to balance as it'd all be there, quick but painful and maybe hilarious.
I don't know enough about making games though, so theres the possibility that what iv put is totally longer than the current method and granted it won't rake in the cash as much.
If I'm wrong let me know, I'm not an expert at making games.
