I've advocated a FPV for dropships that would eliminate any need for a TPV, but CCP's not made any comment so don't expect anything SOON(tm). |

Battlefield 3 and 4 , Planetside 2, and more all have 3rd person vehicle views.
To a Texan like you, a hero is some type of weird sandwich, not some nut who takes on three Gunlogi.

Add the option. improve it over time, including improving controls.
Maybe remove third person later from certain gamemodes (i.e. PC) if people demand it. |

remove 3rd person view and give them actual vehicle controls like multiple gears and an accelerator and brake button. stuff like that would make them easier to avoid and kill without nerfing them |

I thought that first person view would be cool for LAVs,but after riding around in the passenger seat with a few people for a while,I'll pass on it as it makes me nauseous. I'm ok with the option for both, but there's no way they should totally remove third person view. |

only for tanks. all the other vehicles need it. Or somehow make it so 3rd person view won't show the back of the tank, so someone can sneak on it.

Nope. FPV would need to become better before that happens. make FPV better, and we can talk.
EDIT: Also, you would need to explain where the vehicle's camera drones went as well.

i never got this vehicle camera drones thing with eve and now dust. its makes absolutly no sense to me at all. surely your in your vehicle and you have an array of sensors. it makes far more sense to me that you are plugged into these sensors and they create an highly advanced overlay of the area picturing you in the middle. this whole micro drones flying around you is just stupid. your ship can barely survive a bomb blast... i want what those drones are made of because they can survive a doomsday blast

I wouldn't mind the third person perspective as long is it was done in such a way that created blind spots. I don't think it should hinder driving, aka what the heck am I running into that I can't drive over, but I don't think it should be able to give them better field awareness of infantry sneaking up on them.
Maybe it could be limited to just the front or side portion of the tank, unless moving backwards?
It sounds like a lot of work for a minor fix, but it would be nice to be addressed eventually.

No, because that means pilots vision would be limited to how fast their ship can dip/climb/turn, and drivers vision would be limited to the turning speed of their turret.
Which would make no sense at all seeing as how modern pilota of today have radar, advanced avionics, a canopy that they can look through in different directions by simply turning their heads etc. And tanks are equipped with periscopes that can be spun around faster than the turret even (which isn't saying much because the turn speed of modern tank turrets of today is way faster than it is in dust).
Would seem incredibly idiotic if the modern tanks and gunships of today have superior vision capabilities to the supposed sci-fi tanks and gunships of the future.
So no, come up with a better idea. |

Or just a fog of war mechanic. Large objects like buildings or tanks you just drove past remain visible behind your vehicle if close enough, but infantry running behind your tank get "invisible" unless you turn to actually look behind you.
That is as long as the infantry hasn't shown up on radar, because once you or someone else on the same tacnet has identified it as a redberry then fog of war shouldn't apply.
(remember that all mercs on the same team are a part of the same tacnet and if one merc identifies an enemy that enemy shows up on the radar for friendlies in the vicinity. Which of course apply to vehicles too.) |
