A month before 1.7, with free boosters, events, a triple SP week and a bonus 40-50k SP a week on tuesdays, you've managed to get the numbers back up. Good job, but it says nothing about longterm player retention. We'll see what happens when 1.7 comes out. We'll probably get another spike in newborn players and active players, then. Dust 514 is "doomed" if the downward trend continues, even if disrupted for a short period of time, through major content updates. I think Dust will have a cycle of losing active players and gaining active players between large updates, so it's hard to tell anything now. Even those willing to stay on the PS3 for financial reasons or PS4 availability are going to have many more great games to play on the cheap. Are they going to drop $50 or a $100 on DUST when the can get 5-10 games for the same money?

To be honest, a lower player count is probably a good thing for us right now, considering how buggy and laggy the game can be. Best to keep it on the DL until we get PvE, EVE connection, smooth fps, stable balance and mechanics. This time next year is what will really start showing DUST's true colors. Using Pg 2 as a reference, we can see average weekly play times. Assuming everyone who plays DUST is in the "Heavy Gamer" category that still only shows 6.8 hrs a week spent on the game. Assuming 1 hr sessions, that isn't even enough (on average) to cover the entire peak time of each day. Not to mention the middling numbers (less than peak) that display the rest of the non-peak hours. Clearly one can see that the total player count is -far- higher than max players.
