i wont be buying a ps4 for at least a year. Even then i will likely buy a broken one off ebay and find youtube video's on how to fix it. So far it has worked well for me. I have fixed 7 ps3 systems (and permanently broken 3 when i attempted to remove the integrated heat sink) The money these companies want for these systems is much more than what they are worth to me personally. Maybe when the kids are older and they want to use the systems as well.
On a side note the numbers for dust really aren't all that great. I dont even know of another game that i can think of that posts such low numbers. |

Most other games don't even post at all.
In general for not a top line (games that get plastered on front of every game website well after launch) product we're fairly average as some snooping around found out about other games. Some numbers revealed we're doing much better than some even who have a playing cocurrent numbers around the hundreds.

I still hope that once the basic content and gungame is fixed that CCP will put it on other platforms like the PS4 and the PC if we can steal some of the counterstrike numbers we are onto a winner
CS = buy weapons and armor with money gained from combat Dust just goes to the next level and keep that money round after round
right now there are 130k people playing CS in some form on steam these players are dedicated to quality gun game where deaths matter, hence never moving on to BF and COD, these are the players we want to educate to join us
These players already know of New Eden but its not their game type, i dont want to pull players from EvE i want them from other games to grow New Eden as a whole, i want New Eden to cover as many game types as possible, get everyone involved
However right now with the state of the game if it was ported to PC they will turn up play a few rounds and leave, our mouse controls are poor, its missing all the basic content, TTK is too low, Vehicles.......
Give them time then move to other platforms release adverts and boost the player base, until then the odd spike means nothing, only the overall trend of player count matters
my habbits have changed i no longer login and play, now i just login and play something else on the PC, wonder how many others have trouble forcing themselves to play this build?

I like my PS3. If I could play my games on the new console it would be sweet, but NO. $400 for what?? Same old, meaningless games? I don't know about "next-gen" yet. I may get the product later down the line, but for now, nah.

A lot of features of and about this game is the key to it's success or failure . Trust me . Get the bugs out and fix some ( not even all but just some FOR NOW ) of the problems of this game and first the old players will come back and second some newer players will come because the players you have now will bring players as well as the old players ( when they come back ) so lets solve some of these problems and this game will be fine . CCP knows what they are doing ( half the time ... mad about my tanks still ) so let's just trust them and enjoy the ride . DIE 1.7 DIE 1.7 DIE 1.7 DIE 1.7 DIE 1.7 DIE 1.7 DIE1.7 DIE 1.7 DIE 1.7 DIE 1.7 DIE 1.7 DIE 1.7 DIE 1.7 DIE 1.7 DIE ALREADY !!!! +1. I had to quote this. Great analysis, Shinobi MumyoSakanagare ZaShigurui(love that name!).
I think you nailed it. Why are we still here? Simply put, DUST is revolutionary. We all intuit that if CCP can execute, the results will manifest as something beyond 'mindblowing'.
By now the entire industry and a large part of the potential playerbase has some inkling of this, and is also aware that there are technical problems. But many peeps are watching, reading articles, checking in occasionally to see for themselves.
If CCP can clean up their mess(and they are) and move ahead with core systems, content and meaningful gameplay, DUST's numbers have the potential to change very quickly. We need much more than will be in 1.7, however, 1.11 seems like a reasonable estimate for us having all of our core FPS systems and content in place.
I support SP rollover.

With 1.7 I will unhappily admit Dust514 is still better than most next gen games. I just hope they fix ttk because I can only managed like 3 games before it pisses me off and I quit :-(

also, on the subject of the tv spot, ccp has done a great job not airing that (0% sacrasm). tell me if you just picked up the game would you stay? if you have no idea why I'd ask that, fire up an alt and see what happens or even better fire up an alt hand the controller to a friend and see what happens.
has this changed? is having 5 matches of academy then being proto stomped better than just being proto stomped?

CCP is bribing us to stay this week with trinkets. Other games don't have to do that to get people to stay.
It's always nice to log in periodically and prance around a bit for freebies. Doesn't mean people care about this game beyond a humorous aside.

Wow you really are the worst CPM ever... dude seriously go home.
Anyway, down to it: here's a little statistics for our genius CPM based on weekly peaks:
Oct 26 active players: 4156 Oct 26 new players: 767
Nov 2 active players: 4180 Nov 2 new players: 667
... where did all the new players from Oct 26 go? wait let's give Nov another chance.
Nov 9 active players: 4398 Nov 9 new players: 661
getting better... so far 242 out of the previous 1434 new players stuck around. Maybe there is more to come?
Nov 16 active players: 4073???? what happened? Nov 16 new players: 826
Let me get this straight... so far -83 of the previous 2095 new players of previous weeks stuck around? Lets do one more week:
Nov 23 active players: 3875 Nov 23 new players: 801
Ok so far? -281 of the previous 2921 new players stuck around. Or better put... ALL new players have left and 281 vets have left... but you are right... today is a good day.
Let's also keep in mind that Nov events were basically a bribe to all players to come back online. Imagine if there was no bribe? |

Sigh I am not bad at reading graphs, I just don't have the means to read the graphs like Mr. Veldspar does. In order to measure the entire player base you have to measure the area of the frequency above zero for 30 instances of the frequency. Also all the math I been taught so far only measure area of a frequency if the frequency is bell shaped perfectly (normally distributed) which is highly possible to do if you rearrange the numbers on a single instance of the frequency. From there you get you find your deviation, tolerances, and zscores and do the math. Bunch of boring stuff really.
That aside your conclusion that new born players are not translating into new players participating has a factor you may not accounted for. That its counting characters, not accounts. So unless we know how many alts are being made a day we're having a bad means telling who's what. You are right to assumed that despite the alt factors that some of these new players should be translating to higher numbers throughout the day but like I said unless you're measuring the volumes of the frequency over a period of time you're not going to be getting an accurate number.

Ok so let's do it your way by only choosing days that support me. Where you took the highest day last week, I will take the lowest of days last week and compare it to the plataux of recent. And then I will win. Sound fair?
Also... all this means is Dust is dying slower this month. Well done. |
