I miss Chrome tanks
5000 DPS? Easy
Snipe someone from 600m away? Child's play
Infantry RAN from a Surya or a Madrugar- not to a supply depot to find a swarm launcher
The armor tank's only fear was a glass cannon Caldari tank...because not even they could take 15,000 DMG in about 5 seconds.
Any less than 30:0 in a pub match made you a bad tanker
Only the best profited; there were about 20 of us back then and everyone knew who we were. People would spawn with swarm launchers ready. it was glorious
I still remember seeing gunlogis with 7500 HP AND a shield booster of madrugars with well over 15000 EHP while reppers were on. yup. Tanks were tanks. Then the ARs nerfed us.
1.7- we will be making a return. 15000 EHP is coming back. Madrugars will be able to take 12 shots from swarm launchers. with hardeners on. Gunlogis, about 8. Glass cannons won't be hitting with 5000dmg, but a little less than 3000, so not terrible at all. Once again, nothing will hit harder than a tank turret :D Not even a yolo nade ;)

Don't forget that maddies will have the 39 second hardener downtime... In chrome I could permanently get 13k ehp by cycling hardeners.

heavy effecient armour repair unit. 2- carapace armour hardners. 180mm polycrystiline plate high-through put damage modifier 2
if i rember right. shields were 1357 armour was 7457 faster than madruagr oh and had a 4% damage bonus per level. |

The best tankers were in extremely high demand and if you were good, corps would pay out the ass to have you fight for them. I wasn't recognizable until the end of chrome, so I didn't start getting paid much until Uprising to fight for corps, and ive stoppped tanking for the last couple months, but come 1.7 im gonna make a come back as the most feared railgun caldari tanker in the game since Slap and Hotch. 3000 DPS, anyone? :D

The Chrome HAVs was the reason why the skills related to all vehicles took a hit. Just in case any dropship pilots want to know who to thank because it wasn't AR crying that brought the over nerfing.
I'm giving the Devs the benefit of the doubt. That the divide in HAVs from low-end to high-end will be tightened and a better balance against infantry will be achieved. Then again I also thought the change to the HMG skill was going to improve accuracy making it better and wasn't a pointless nerf.

And you guys thought nothing was wrong with your tanks back then?, sounds like the Tank did all the heavy lifting for you. Now that tanks are UP instead of OP you flail about for a bit then explode in a fireball. Actual good players can make UP stuff work, they dont need it to be OP to be efficient.

It was because tryhards with AR didnt have any AV, infact the majority of DUST back then ran AR and barely anyone ran FG or swarms apart from the free anit vehicle suit
If anyone did run AV it was a solo person generally, rarely saw any teamwork from AV ppl back then but those that did were able to destroy a tank with coordinated fire and planning that is if they didnt have basic AV and actually skilled up
Simply put a tank was used to kill a tank and AV was support but get enough AV and you could kill that tank without needing a tank
Now its going the way of needing more than one AV person to kill a tank, only the smartest will be able to solo tanks so thats a small number of ppl about now
Pilots may quit the vehicle tree if they are infantry at heart, swarms will drop off and so will AV nades after the changes, maybe FG will stay around because of infantry kills |

it is not slayers place to deal with havs it is ours the guardians soon av tanking teams will be valid and everything will change.
soon guardians and marauders will be back in full force and all the ar scrubs and continue their whine about how they cant destroy everything in dust with they're slayer fit. meanwhile those of us that has proto av and never get to use it because whats the point really will finally have meaning and SKILL brought back to our spec...
the role of guardian/sentinel has become to easy..where it used to require skill it now just requires skill points...i am really looking forward to balance being brought back to av/vehicles..soon the depth of dust will become even more...blue dots dont even understand how much depth to battles in dust has been lost due to underpowered vehicles. |

actually, it wasn't easy. there were hundreds of people with HAV skills, but only about 20 of us were responsible for going 30:0 in every battle, so no, it wasn't the HAV doing all the work (unlike the AR).

there are 2 battles going in every match ..infantry vs infantry and av /vs vehicle ...now while vehicles are currently crippled there effect is not noticeable ...but soon tankers will carry bombarding teams to outer objectives sniper immune ..:) im real excited for tanks to be back |

Yeah ...thats allot of sweet skills they got there...its like most heavy players, they are in that suit for a reason, so they at least get to act surprised when they get nailed by someone with 0.16 ms reaction times.
And then there are the Heavies sitting in a tank ....as if the 10k ehp isnt already enough...
Tanks need to require at most 1 person trying to activly counter the vehicle otherwise its OP, say if CCP allowed 16 tanks on the field and it requires 6 of us to counter one tank, we would need 96 people working together, unless you want vehicles to have a more anti-vehicle role, but then vehicles need to deal allot less damage to infantry.
I just ignore tanks, the chance they get to kill me is awfully low, with a mobility setup suit and their exxcellent aim + some cover = getaway for free card anyways.

hmmm...you've never been in a tank have you..? There was a reason that less than 20 tankers, even in chrome, were good. - nobody was smart enough to understand the finer points of it. because swarms are light AV designed to take out light vehicles. Forges are heavy AV and designed to take out heavy vehicles. If you want to kill tanks, get a forge gun and sentinal suit like the real AV players who the tanks actually respect. Notice how most tankers don't mind being killed by forges? It's because it takes them real skill to hit us- not YOLO SWARMS AV NADES DEAD TANK.

I think tanks are fine now. I think they are pretty effective if used well with infantry. Nyan San does great in ambush pubs with their tanks.... When it comes to competitive PC games, again, tanks are fine. They get burned by the dozen but they definitely have a role. And as a tanker if you run vehicles in PC your corp should reimburse you for losses.
Eff you to ppl who lament chromo with its 30-0 tank runs, especially since those tanks were running solo w/o infantry support. I really don't get what you guys are whining about. |

Actually I back this one. Grenades are ridiculous in this game, period. And swarms - dumbest weapon ever made. Worse than AR with aimbot. Literally a weapon that shoots and scores for you. And you can totally run a fit with swarms and use a good SMG to feel safe against infantry.
Nades and swarms need to be reworked, not the whole AV vs V framework.

you do realize that nyain san backs out of pubs where the odds aren't stacked in their favor, right?
tanks do not work in PC.
They did not fulfill their role in Chrome because they were very strong all the time. They dont work strong because they are never strong. Hopefully, 1.7 will bring them to their roles of 'seige guns' and 'battering rams' used to takw out hard targets at range or smash through hard defenses, very quickly, but not being sustainable for long periods of time.

No Swarm Launchers were not designed to destroy LAVs. They were designed to do the exact same thing FGs do. You have literally no proof suggesting otherwise other than what your fellow dumbf*uck tankers say.
On another note, if you don't care about what AV does and doesn't mind, why should I care about what you mind?

face it: we are going to be harder to kill than ever since Chromosome. We will be tankier than in chrome, do more damage, and move faster. all of our modules are more powerful and lolswarms and yolo nades got nerfed harder than anything since tanks lost their PG.

I do miss those days even if at time I was not a tanker, the only real problem back then was the abusers; i.e.: 2 guys deciding to get 2 suryas in an ambush match or a sagaris camping in red line with over 10 000 HP.
Now that I have a second account with HAV I know about the problems of them in uprising, a single guy with proto swarms and a logi vehicle can make your match a living hell, or the fact that my 800 000 ISK vehicle should be running away from a scout with La Dais. Examples like this ridicules the role of a tanker and they are now called to battle in PC just for the other team to have guys in AV all the time, no joke in here.
As an active Forge gunner and HAV pilot I am more than happy to the changes over swarm missiles, as I always tell them: "You use those swarms and chase me because you can only aim something that's at least 30 ft. long, and for that you need auto-aim" |

Glass cannons won't be hitting with 5000dmg, but a little less than 3000, so not terrible at all. Once again, nothing will hit harder than a tank turret :D Not even a yolo nade ;) uprising wheated out the weak. Name York, Covert Clay, Bob, legend and many others learned to thrive despite the setbacks. go cry somewhere else. CCP ran outta tampons long ago

I know several Chromo tankers that did so. milo cordelli, CharChar here. And I know a few that do now (redlining). But come 1.7, we will see who the true tankers are. I might stay in tanks, but I doubt it. I got a date with rail rifles and proto logi.

I'm giving the Devs the benefit of the doubt. That the divide in HAVs from low-end to high-end will be tightened and a better balance against infantry will be achieved. Then again I also thought the change to the HMG skill was going to improve accuracy making it better and wasn't a pointless nerf. Yes, it was AR crying, despite tanks 2-shotting each other with rail guns. That's the best direct hard-counter I can think of.

Now that tanks are UP instead of OP you flail about for a bit then explode in a fireball. Actual good players can make UP stuff work, they dont need it to be OP to be efficient. What problem do you have with a tank being its own best counter?

Yeah...i've taken every one of them on and killed them...but to be fair, they killed me just about the same number of times. I guess I'm not as well known as I used to be because I don't tank in PC anymore.
Fun fact: I'm still the only tanker in Dust who doesn't get facerolled by Bob.

They probably won't because all tanks are active tanks and even if they'll be harder to kill than in chromosome with hardeners on, when they turn off, theyre out of the fight for a long time. Not the constant rolling death machine of chromo but not the weak piece of garbage uprising gave us. I think it will be a good balance.
