dustwaffle wrote:The level of entitlement in this thread is astounding. Here's a tip: You don't HAVE to grind out the matches. You get extra SP if you maintain your current play times. If you have more time or make more time to play this week, then you get more SP. It's simple. CCP isn't responsible for your sense of entitlement, you have to deal with it yourself. Here's a simple analogy to make things simpler for you. Say on your local radio station, there's a dial-in competition, where if you enter you get $5 cash in hand. Every time you participate in the event you get your reward handed out to you. Naturally, someone with more time on their hands will get more rewards, and someone with less time won't get more. Do you think you should be entitled to the same rewards as the person with more time? Do you gripe about it? If so, you really need a reality check. Also, at the comments about 'adults with work and married with children' etc. Well, if you think capping out at a video game takes priority over other commitments, then you need to get your priorities and your life sorted. Instead of viewing this as 'CCP is forcing me to play more to enjoy the rewards', maybe grow up, lose that entitled view, and start viewing this as 'CCP is rewarding me if I play more, and if I don't, I still get more SP than I normally would'. First world problems and the people that have them

My assessment of the plan behind the November Event would appear to be something close to having you play more.
Not less. More.
Reward is trending ~10K SP per full match (non-boosted). ~600K SP to start means 60 matches. About double what is normal, If I recall my normal match counts per week. And I might well be off. If you are trending towards 9K or 8K the math means 66 to 75 matches.
More. Not Less.
This event is a chance to earn More SP because nothing else in the game matters more than SP. Except for lvl 5 in most and lvl 4 in a few Skills 600K will tip the scale for the next big thing you have been struggling to get to.
What CCP gets in return is: you burn ISK, AUR if you are an AUR equipment user, AUR if you use a booster and why the hell wouldn't you for this type of event? And! You tell your friends, or not, and everybody gets to use More Gear that costs even More ISK or AUR! What's not to like?
Now, for your own personal life you get to make a decision. Play the normal number of matches, the same hours/days you always do and make More SP. Cool. Or burn down the week, a Booster and get Even More SP.
Please note that nothing was Entitled in the assessment. |

The event rewards vets way more than noobs. My first month playing, I was crazy lucky to get 300 WP in an assault match. 5-6 months later, I am usually in the 500-1000 WP range. The event also encourages pub stomping. Players bring out their best gear to maximize the reward. This makes the noob player experience worse than it already is. In the end, I want more people playing this game and these types of sp events are built to discourage new users.
As for how this event affects my desire to play the game, x3 WP sp is not enough to entice me to play more than I usually do or buy a booster. |

I play for fun not SP. I have only capped once and I could care less about capping out. I have a life that DUST and EVE allow me to get away from and have fun. If I don't enjoy playing then I stop. I don't complain about protostomping or callogi or how I can't get enough SP. I don't cheat in any way, shape, form or fashion and I don't grief other players because I want others to have fun like me. I think that the game is quit boring and to be honest I don't even like FPS games.
I like games that are very difficult. I always play on the hardest setting allowed in every game I play. This game is not difficult to play or to learn. I am not good at it but it is because I don't do well with a gun. That is why I am a logi. I play the game because when I lose something it is because the other persons is better than me and the items lost are gone forever. To me the difficulty is what keeps me playing. Well that and I love Sci-fi.
The thing I don't like the most is the negative attitudes and the demands placed on the people making the game. I have stayed away form multiplayer games because I don't like the way the internet makes people act because they think they can say and do anything without being blamed or punished. This thread is another prime example of why I don't like MMOs. Armchair developers sit at their house and ridicule and berate the people who are trying to give us something fun to do an yet themselves couldn't do 1/100 of what the devs do.
I don't mean to go on a long winded diatribe but the problem isn't CCP it is parts of the community that can't or won't empathize with what they are doing and how difficult it really is. Sometimes it embarrasses me to read what others say and how they act. I would beat my kids a$$ if they acted like some of the people here. There are a lot of people who need to grow up and learn to respect others like adults should and to be perfectly honest I hope they get back what they give out. Everything comes around full circle and ten fold.
TL:DR Grow up and treat people as you want to be treated. You know, things your mom told you when you were a kid.

When I read the event statement I thought it would be 'a bit grindy'. Now I would take back that 'a bit' part...
"This x2,8 amount of matches per week" event makes me feel to give up on all my alt chars... (That would mean the end of double boostering them, of course...) -_- |

So we are coming to the end of the event. I managed to cap my "main" and get my other two chars down to around 200K left of the cap.
The grind was awful. Sure, bleat on that I didn't have to cap out, that's your opinion. Everyone I know who plays this game "seriously" wants to cap out.
These events are great for sure, I want more of them, but please CCP don't force people to grind even more than they have to. Those of us who have multiple chars are being penalised for supporting this game.
A simple 10x active would have been nice, 10K SP for WP (based on Aero's numbers) would have burnt through the cap nicely, making the even less of a grind.

really? In a game where there is probems that need attention, this is your problem? would it have been better if CCP worded it this way
CCP= "hey guys this week you can have 3 times as many SP before you cap out,but if you dont want to then dont"
