It's around lunch time on NA TZs, on a workday.
Stop finding some of the lowest times to complain about numbers. 24 hour cap is currently 3581, far more reasonable a number.
No need to be alarmist. |

i believe the 'alarmist' phase was a couple months ago when it went from 8k down to under 5k in 3 or 4 days...
2600, sure its sad, but not a ton worse than normal peak #s of 3500... |

I fear that Dust will have to relaunch, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. AFK(ers) is now gone, leaving nothing but SP grind, and the amount of SP you gain per match is just not enough. The link between Eve and Dust is non-existent, Eve players couldn't give a damn about Dusties, and many Dust players don't even know about Eve. Customization is locked behind pre-req, which is locked behind a pre-req, which is locked behind another pre-req, while organized proto-squads continue to dominate blues. This game definitely should not have came out of Beta. |

These next weeks are going to be unstable as heck. So far modulation of the frequency is remaining the same.
What numbers to watch is probably PS4 and XBONE number dips because those... those are going to contain permanent losses of people who traded their old box in for a new one. |

The modulation of the frequency remains the same yes but there is also a visible decline sugessting that the stable modulation comes from a central group of core gamers and the decline is the mass of the exiting player base . Which is a sad thug as I love thus game. |

This is... normal? I mean: Planetside 2 has about the same player numbers.

Doesn't look any better.
And if you take a look at eve-offline.net you'll notice that player count spikes at the weeken. About 4000 - 5000 players online then. After that it goes down to a low of about 2500 until it spikes again. I don't know why this could be. Maybe because people have work or school during the week. But that's just a wild guess. |

GTA V has had a dramatic impact with peak numbers dropping by at least 1000. This equates to a total playerbase drop of around 12,000, which is seriously significant. This game really needs to pull something big out the bag in the immediate future or Dust is going to get left in the... errr dust. |

I, too, am pretty disheartened by the trend-lines I see on eve-offline at the moment...particularly because I think the game improved considerably with the 1.4 release. The one point of solace I've found is that, if I squint the right way at the lifetime Tranquility graph, it appears that CCP tends to lose players over the course of each year, but rapidly pick them back up even more at the beginning of the next. Of course, that's probably because of Eve's large-patch cycle, but I'm going to hold onto hope for now...

I am sure IWS will be able to explain to you that 12,000 people leaving this MMO is not that big of a deal and that this game is a AAA game stuck in a Lobby FPS body, and that some day SoonGäó it will break out of its shell and be a great AAA MMO FPS RPG game. |

I am sure you're too much of an idiot to explain anything to about numbers, games, and why I predict that GTA online is going to go the way of Metal Gear Solid Online. Enjoy your 16 player lobbied/instanced 'MMO' (though hackers have claimed to have bumped the number to 32; and yes the game is already hacked seems to be no hot coffee this time around) |

Numbers don't matter as much as revenue. If each of those players is paying $1 a day then they're bringing in roughly $38,000 a week. That can support a team of 20 developers + infrastructure.
5000 players each buying a Merc pack to keep their passive boosters rolling brings in $75,000 a month.
They have funding, not to mention that they probably still have a decent development budget independent of the revenue their bringing in.
DUST isn't dead. |
