I am sure you're too much of an idiot to explain anything to about numbers, games, and why I predict that GTA online is going to go the way of Metal Gear Solid Online. Enjoy your 16 player lobbied/instanced 'MMO' (though hackers have claimed to have bumped the number to 32; and yes the game is already hacked seems to be no hot coffee this time around) MGO was a VASTLY better game than dust, the ONLY reason it died was from incompetent moderators (CCP is worse) and rampant glitching (i'm talking DDoS attacks to prevent official tourney matches from happening). The game itself was amazing, had 10K+ players it's first year, and was set for a 10 year plan until hackers and glitchers literally ruined the game.
Even after all that, it lasted exactly 4 years.
The learning curve in MGO was in the gameplay, not the skills and menus system like in DUST
CCP could learn a thing or two from what happened to MGO, but it seems like dust is on the same course, doomed to fail, in less than 4 years.
There is nothing wrong with 16v16 lobby gameplay if it's fun, engaging, smooth, exciting, etc., all things dust are not. |

Hey he started that argument. From what I understand about the online aspect about GTA Online is that it is only as persistent as diablo 3 is, which is contained to character. In other words if you delete your character, your presence in that world goes with you all your accomplishments, establishments and the sorts gone nothing survives you or becomes a permanent or temporary scar anywhere. This is probably why Diablo and Borderlands have been regarded as meta-mmos instead of full fledge sorts. The rest is mostly Go to place A or B, do traditional style mmo missions such as cap 5 fools playin around your corner, and team death match. Oh and level up.
Oh and Golf (which btw was stupid amounts of fun in Halo Reach/4) |

I pre-ordered a PS4 the day after it was detailed at E3 ... so, yeah, I'm going to be one of those people moving along to the next generation. I plan to keep my PS3, though, as a "secondary" gaming device, as there are some RPGs (Bioware's stable of titles and Bethesada's Skyrim) that I will continue to play on occasion.
Dust 514? *shrug* It's a giant "if" at this moment, largely hinging on how BF4 and Planetside 2 handle themselves in the weeks and months after PS4 goes to the consumers.

It should be titled
only 26 players dusting just now
Also boxing players into small rooms is not a bad thing to be honest. Makes the game feel full even when your populations start dipping into the sub 1k. |

the numbers right now are not representative of anything aside from possibly EU numbers.
what im more curious in is the numbers of people that log on to collect their free sp and then go play another game.
factor that in as well as non eve-related players. then publish those stats... |

Those people are only counted for the time they're logged in though so they don't tick up or tick down that much and since server API like only reports every ... 15 minutes? They're contribution is in and out and not seen on the graph influence as much.
Also we're up today on population over yesterday. |

I am not bashing, and I do enjoy Dust. But I haven't had a reason to log on or even play other than the SP collection, which gets very old and I am part of whatever decay is going on (if it's even true) since i havent played more than 1 game a week in a very long time

Stop finding some of the lowest times to complain about numbers. 24 hour cap is currently 3581, far more reasonable a number.
No need to be alarmist.
A few months ago it was 5,000 at 5:00 EST, a time when many people are getting home from work and many school kids have been home for a while.
Right now it is at 3,123 players on DUST.
I don't want to preach doom and gloom. That is why I disagree with people saying "GTA V will kill DUST".
However as I predicted a steady downward trend is taking place where we are gradually losing people to boredom and frusturation...
When will it be okay to have 2,000 players? 1,000? In a F2P MMO on the PS3? At this point MAG is almost rivaling DUST, and that game is nearly dead!
EDIT: According to EVE-Offlines charts, on 5-25-13 DUST topped out at 6,551 players. Over the past six months there has been a very real downward path to our current 3,300... and it doesn't show any signs of going upwards... |

Everyone got sick of beta testing a "finished" game.
Let's change the game with no repec..... after changing damn near every weapon / vehicle .
Derp LAV's are killing me ..... SOoooooooo lets me complain so they take the free ones out... when it was mostly LLAV..derp So if you want a isk free one you have to pay real money .... YAY they listened to us ..... but we all lost ... FUdge the new players right guys?
Saw guys arguing about recalling vehicles the other day , so they fought until it was suggested that the infantry shouldnt be able to use supply depot if tanks couldnt be recalled..... So with either side not back down til we would all lose a good option to the game ....over stupidness.
As many mistakes as CPP made with this game ... YOU forum warriors are killing it too .
I bet they love how ya'll fight and argue all day ...with each other .
Boy imagine ...just stop and think what would happen if we maybe were civil with each other and tried to work together , we all love the game right?
Imagine what we could get done if maybe ..... we were holding their feet to the fire instead of spending all our spare time trying to get each other nerf'd

I'm sorry but for every bad suggestion they take, they ignore the good ones. At the end of the day it's CCP that makes the decisions. Don't blame the community for the mistakes of CCP.
Uprising is a prime example of how CCP completely ignored ALL the good feedback from the beta. |

I've seen so many posts that go something like this I'm leaving Dust until they fix... Dust needs some major event or addition which will bring the hundreds who left until vehicles or aim assist or whatever was fixed something like PvE or a one day event where all players have unlimited ISK for the first 4 games. Even if it was just for a day however long term would be better just getting people to play again should be at the top of list, they should be working on PvE or another event as we speak or type rather. |
