Some have said that this patch is a convenience and nothing more and CCP should be giving us content instead.
Yes it is a convenience and one that perhaps relatively few will get to use. But if this had been in place a year ago I can tell as a CEO this would've given me more time to play the game rather than administrating my corp. if the corps are easier to run and less work to maintain, more and more players are going to give building their own corp a go.
With the growth of successful and easily maintained corporations comes the growth of Dust and its player base. This is why I consider this a huge leap in the development of the game. Ask any of your CEO's, they're going to to love this. And look what has happened as a side effect of giving us these roles.
The discovery and removal of a coding bottle neck that reduces a 2 minute and 52 second download time for 1300+ members to 5 secs. That's over 3000% increase in speed. How many other bottlenecks will the guys find when they try to do something else that isn't related to new content.
Trust me, when you guys what to have a go at starting your own corps, you will be so thankful for 1.5. |

So who will be able to assign these roles? Obviously the CEO can assign all, so does that mean the director can assign them all too, except for adding another director?
Cause if the CEO is the only one allowed to add TCO roles, then that could pose an issue.
Also is the personal director able to kick players, or just accept them? |

Trust me, when you guys want to have a go at starting your own corps, you will be so thankful for 1.5. +1 Kevall. Your post bring up the question of 'content' in DUST that i've been wanting to point out, and this seems like a good opportunity. One of the things about DUST is that the game has several 'genres' of content, whereas most of us use content in a generic catch-all way.
Assets content: Weapons, equipment, suits, vehicles, modules.
Environment content: Maps, moods, climates, installations, skyboxes, warbarge, sockets, Surface Infrastructure.
Orbital content: Eve ships, OBs.
RPG content: Skilltree, suit and vehicle fitting screens.
Economic simulator content: ISK, AUR, personal and corp wallets, ISK transfer, ISK theft, item loss, item theft.
Corporation content: Roles, taxation, communication.
Geopolitical content: Districts, district ownership, district effects, district geography...
ok, time is short and i'm gonna quit there, but there is much more. This was just an off-the-top-of-my-head kind of thing and there are several more categories and more items per category than should be added to this.
My point is that it's all content, and it's all still very incomplete, but it's already considerable. We don't notice it that much because CCP is adding to it incrementally and we don't use all of it all the time. But the punchline is that DUST already has a LOT of content. And it's just the merest beginning of what the basic fleshed out version of the core DUST experience will be in a couple of years. |

CEO: No change. The CEO can do anything any other role can. The CEO can also assign or remove the Director role from others. There can only ever be one CEO in a corporation at a time. Director: No change. Able to do everything a CEO can, except the ability to assign or remove the Director role from others.
I take this as meaning that director can also grant roles except make someone a director. |

This is the concern that I've had with it since the beginning. Or even if someone can't get back in and you need a replacement. For this reason I thought the corp roles were just going to be expanded so that additional roles can kick in the lobby. |

In the past, if that player is a member of the corporation; they'll just restart and join in separately. If not, one of the backups (usually from the corp in question) will join separately.
Now, that you have to be a TCO to join a Corp Match, how can mitigation of Deployment Issues be lessened?
While CCP thinks this over, one way to mitigate is to give your "PC ready" members the role to join PC. Admittedly not the most ideal solution, but better than it is now.

Great news, I 'm just wondering when the Dust economy is going to be introduced. I also wanted to know about the New Eden star map expanding, the universe of New Eden is vast, can't wait to see the Star map expand so every corporation can get more involved in Planetary Conquest. New weapon upgrades and accessories like scopes or certain customizations for Dropsuits and vehicles to make your war chest unique from others. I'm excited, CCP can do so many great things with Dust 514. It's exciting to see this game evolve. |

Not sure if this has been suggested yet, but maybe this would work: once the battle starts (moves past lobby), anyone in the corp can join. That way, you can use TCO's during lobby stage to get the right players in, but afterwards can call for extras to join the battle if there's any replacements needed. |

On the "show info" of a character, it will be cool if you can add our roles in there, along with combat roles i.e. Logistics, Heavy, Assault, Tanker, DS pilot. You can also add the haracter's personal stats like accuracy, kills, deaths and SP.
I just want to see how others are playing. Like in the forums, if I click on someones name, all of his stats will show up. So I can get to know the player. |

Tips my hat to FoxFour and Team True Grit; the corp roles updates and quality of life improvements look fantastic.
I'm still dreaming a role concept called 'consultation' which I would tremendously love to see.
The thread details the concept further, but the idea entails:
Quote: the ability to share your corporation skills completely (even the current corp building skill) with another corp while remaining in your own. As a 4x skill, each additional level will allow you to share your abilities with another corporation of your choosing, up to a maximum of 5 corporations. This ability to share skills with multiple corporations will allow for a self-marketable player asset that can assist alliances and 'rivals' alike for a chosen retainer fee (or work pro-bono). The trick is this information on corporate interaction is not visible unless obtained via a hacking mini-game or word of mouth. Finding out one of your high executives is consulting with the enemy could make for some very juicy meta-gaming.

I like the idea of having roles. but all members of a corp should be able to join a battle. Not only because of faulty servers that kick people out, but also because the players that do have the role might not be there, or maybe only one. So he will have to back out 3 times to bring in players. It doesnt make sense at all and most likely make things harder then they need to be.
totally agree. We will have to give all members this role just to be safe. Honestly, now that we can kick people out of the warbage, there is no point of this role.
Instead of giving this role the ability to join battles exclusively, why not only allow for these roles to be able to be squad leaders only. So, anyone in the corp can join a battle but only TCOs are able to form squads and be squad leaders. |

We need you guys to make sense of this role or at least explain to us why you guys feel that this role is needed. Would rather you have a look at changing the privilege of this role. Because the ability to join a battle independently, is just a waste of a time. |

May I make a suggestion, as constructively as I can. Please do not release this unless you can guarantee a new problem is not introduced. It worries me that you appear not to have already considered this problem, and it feels like we're on the edge of the knife with people giving up on the game.
I don't even play PC, but if what should be a cool new feature has the effect of p1ssing people off in the most organised and unique game-mode we have, I fear for the future of a game I very much want to play.
This is a good feature, but needs to work as intended.

This is good, obviously, but I don't like the names of the new roles. Why are two of them terrestrial officers (when there are no non-terrestrial officers in Dust), one of them 'personnel director' (which is misleading, as director is a more senior position), and one accountant (which just sounds rubbish)? They should be named more simply and consistently, so that someone with any one of these roles is referred to as an officer, like this:
Accountant->Financial officer Personnel director->Personnel officer Terrestrial combat officer->Combat officer Terrestrial logistics officer->Logistics officer
This replaces a confusing mishmash of nomenclature with a simple hierarchy of CEO (the boss), director (someone with all roles), and officer (someone with one to three roles). |
