Yes it is a convenience and one that perhaps relatively few will get to use. But if this had been in place a year ago I can tell as a CEO this would've given me more time to play the game rather than administrating my corp. if the corps are easier to run and less work to maintain, more and more players are going to give building their own corp a go.
With the growth of successful and easily maintained corporations comes the growth of Dust and its player base. This is why I consider this a huge leap in the development of the game. Ask any of your CEO's, they're going to to love this. And look what has happened as a side effect of giving us these roles.
The discovery and removal of a coding bottle neck that reduces a 2 minute and 52 second download time for 1300+ members to 5 secs. That's over 3000% increase in speed. How many other bottlenecks will the guys find when they try to do something else that isn't related to new content.
Trust me, when you guys want to have a go at starting your own corps, you will be so thankful for 1.5. +1 Kevall. Your post bring up the question of 'content' in DUST that i've been wanting to point out, and this seems like a good opportunity. One of the things about DUST is that the game has several 'genres' of content, whereas most of us use content in a generic catch-all way.
Assets content: Weapons, equipment, suits, vehicles, modules.
Environment content: Maps, moods, climates, installations, skyboxes, warbarge, sockets, Surface Infrastructure.
Orbital content: Eve ships, OBs.
RPG content: Skilltree, suit and vehicle fitting screens.
Economic simulator content: ISK, AUR, personal and corp wallets, ISK transfer, ISK theft, item loss, item theft.
Corporation content: Roles, taxation, communication.
Geopolitical content: Districts, district ownership, district effects, district geography...
ok, time is short and i'm gonna quit there, but there is much more. This was just an off-the-top-of-my-head kind of thing and there are several more categories and more items per category than should be added to this.
My point is that it's all content, and it's all still very incomplete, but it's already considerable. We don't notice it that much because CCP is adding to it incrementally and we don't use all of it all the time. But the punchline is that DUST already has a LOT of content. And it's just the merest beginning of what the basic fleshed out version of the core DUST experience will be in a couple of years. |
