There are many players who are going to be asking why do this when you could give us some new weapons?
Because this blog represents one of the biggest leaps forward in the delvelopment of the game. Certainly as big as PC and more so than the skill tree updates.
This is going to be a major help for how corporations are able to be maintained. Anything that allows a CEO and directors the ability to safely delegate tasks such as recruitment without access to to the wallet and district control is going to be a huge boost.
It also means that we can now reward those players that are helpful to the corp and give them a sense of responsibility and engagement by giving them a role in the day to day running of a corp.
Anything that makes running a corp easier is going to encourage the formation of more corps. More corps means more fights. More fights means Dust grows.
This is a massive head start on what we need and a major advancement towards a corp being able to be run without the need of using an Eve client.
Just a couple of questions that leap to mind before I go out to the cinema. (I'll sit down and think of others after seeing Rush)
1. Can these roles be applied within the Eve client? 2. How close are we to having the ability to give Titles, medals and an employment history of mercs, all of which being visible to other players in Dust?
Can also give a big thank you to Cognac and Merc for the optimisation work on loading the members list and for the bonus items of filters.
I'm not going to stop pushing for more corp UI options but I'm now so happy that my member list isn't going to take 2mins and 52 secs to load. (Means less chance to make a brew while its loading but I'm happy to sacrifice that)
Thanks again.

Some have said that this patch is a convenience and nothing more and CCP should be giving us content instead.
Yes it is a convenience and one that perhaps relatively few will get to use. But if this had been in place a year ago I can tell as a CEO this would've given me more time to play the game rather than administrating my corp. if the corps are easier to run and less work to maintain, more and more players are going to give building their own corp a go.
With the growth of successful and easily maintained corporations comes the growth of Dust and its player base. This is why I consider this a huge leap in the development of the game. Ask any of your CEO's, they're going to to love this. And look what has happened as a side effect of giving us these roles.
The discovery and removal of a coding bottle neck that reduces a 2 minute and 52 second download time for 1300+ members to 5 secs. That's over 3000% increase in speed. How many other bottlenecks will the guys find when they try to do something else that isn't related to new content.
Trust me, when you guys what to have a go at starting your own corps, you will be so thankful for 1.5. |

DJINN leukoplast wrote:So who will be able to assign these roles? Obviously the CEO can assign all, so does that mean the director can assign them all too, except for adding another director?
Cause if the CEO is the only one allowed to add TCO roles, then that could pose an issue.
Also is the personal director able to kick players, or just accept them?
CEO: No change. The CEO can do anything any other role can. The CEO can also assign or remove the Director role from others. There can only ever be one CEO in a corporation at a time. Director: No change. Able to do everything a CEO can, except the ability to assign or remove the Director role from others.
I take this as meaning that director can also grant roles except make someone a director. |
