Over 9000!
about 200-1000 man hours to implement then 10000man hours to work the bugs out and that's per feature. |

Out of curiosity, how long do you think each one of those line items would take in terms of man hours? No clue, but how many man hours are in one and a half years, you know, the amount of time it took to fix the PG on Logi dropships?

Oh I'm sure you could have a terribly unbalanced, buggy as hell, prototype of each of them given 2 months, right? :P
That's assuming some work has already been done, as we've seen some jet models, racial variant models, etc. |

CCP use agile development (as opposed to waterfall) for a reason:
Waterfall: get everything you want, but not on time Agile: get it on time, but lose some items
The benefit of the agile approach is that you can push items that aren't ready yet into the next development cycle, without delaying delivery of what actually *is* ready. It's kinda win-win in that regard. |

They have their hands full with the current tanks, figuring out a base guideline to follow to balance out with infantry. We all want new stuff, but we want to be able to enjoy it at the same time. It all takes balance, which is a never ending thing. The Devs are clearly pushed to their limits as is. Always best when you break your problems down into smaller pieces and take one step at a time.
As much as I hate this imbalance, and lack of content, this is the only game I play. It's the only game that can hold my interest longer then a week! |

Obviously it's a lot to do the original 1.5, and any few of these things I listed.
However what brought us to this place, in part, was a lack of foresight (Probably via Blam). It will be more difficult to balance new vehicles and turrets if they are not included at 1.6 or quickly in a consequent patch. Especially if by then it's not already planned what sort of fittings, roles, and features they will have.
On a side note, the total man hours promise future racial respecs is not too high. It takes acknowledgement of the problem, admitting it, having a team conversation about it, and writing up a dev blog explaining how racial respecs will work and why they are fair or the right thing to do. |

Apparently it looks like they have not built a good automated system for respecs yet. Hence why it was a pain to do last time.
Might be something to consider making, given the slow trickle of new content and inevitable balance passes, skill changes, core mechanic alteration, and in some cases Complete Overhauls (see 1.6 vehicles). |

A couple of days max. Because at this point I'm just sick and tired of waiting, and really don't give a **** anymore. Here look I'll demonstrate:
"New turret types":
Minmatar small turret:
Take three small missile turrets and scale them down in size. Angle them upward. Attach them to the top of one turret stand. Take the mass driver projectile animation bend the arc on the projectile flight path and extend the flight time. Paint the whole thing brownish red. Specs are eyeballed, best ballpark. The community can play test it for us. Simple numerical modifications can be made in the following several days after release.
BLAM!!!! Minmatar small artillery turret.
Minmatar large turret:
Take the large missile turret and angle the turret upward. Take the animation from the massdriver projectile and scale up the size a little. Do the same as above with the projectile flight path. Paint the thing redish brown. Eyeballed stats.
BLAM!!!!-áMinmatar large artillery turret.
Amarr small turret:
Combine a blaster turret and the animation from the laser rifle. Scale the laser animation up in size a bit. Paint the whole thing gold. Eyeballed stats.
BLAM!!!! Amarr laser turret.
Amarr large turret:
Same as above.
BLAM!!!! Done.
"A respec for vehicle users":
We've already seen how this works. Start immediately.
BLAM!!!! Done.
"Dropship cloaking":
Module is activated dropship animation is removed. Nothing fancy just gone. Specs are eyeballed.
BLAM!!!! Dropship cloaking. Done!
"A new vehicle type":
Speeder:
Take the animation from the LAV. Split the animation down the center. Cut roughly one meter from the center side of each half. Reattach both halves. Take the animation, and, -áfrom front to rear end, squish the animation together slightly (should only have two wheels after it is done). Stats are eyeballed.
BLAM!!!! Speeders.
Race variants:
Take the Gallente stuff (tanks, LAVs, speeders) and paint it gold. All stats are eyeballed for community testing. Stats are eyeballed.
BLAM!!!! Amarr suff.
Take the Caldari stuff and paint it redish brown. Copy and past some of the art from the Minmatar medium frame dropsuit (like canisters and all that other crap) and slap that stuff onto the Cal vehicles.-áAll stats are eyeballed for community testing. Stats are eyeballed.
BLAM!!!! Minmatar stuff.

I feel obliged to tell you, this isn't a bi-annual release, on the same engine as it has been since its first release! This isn't the kind of game where you make 1-2 games per platform, this isn't a game that operates on its own dedicated servers just for this game and this game alone!!
You have every right to be a little annoyed, but whining about it doesn't help!! |
