The Aim Assist how it is now does nothing but compress skill gap's in players own ability to aim for themselfs...
In bubblegum shooters having a computer assisted aiming system would make sense.. As death only effects their personal "Epeen"
The Aim Assist isn't about stat's or K/D/R...
It's about the way DUST works, when you die... your suit/vehicle and modules are lost... And that is a consequence that no player want's to think a computer assisted with...
It ruins the concept of DUST and EVE, and it ruins the feel of the game where each individual Mercenary has his/her own worth...
I have seen new players only suffer more from the hands of mediocre to highly skilled players... The feature is not something that helps a new player with fine point aiming... its a feature that with practice will track sprinting and jumping targets, and even blow up their hit boxes so bullets are registering on them when they are well behind cover.
As it stands right now in skilled hands is a tool to be abused.
The worst part of all of this experience is what the playerbase has been put through with endless Isk loss purely because of no moderation.....
Going from no aim assists in 1.3 to one of the strongest in online FPS shooters in 1.4.... just lack's Tact..
Seriously what boss or person who's responsibility with end product decisions was it to go from black to white and think it would go over well in a community that has been in damage control since uprising launch?
In all honesty... i miss playing dust with my friends... And as it stands right now its thrown a lot of its uniqueness away to copy bubblegum shooter titles.. And its got to the point that its similar enough to be pointless to play.... |

After a greater amount of engagement with this build, i have to say in some regard it has come along. The client side issues with frame rate drops is no where near as bad as in previous builds, but it seems to get that kind of frame rate issues resolved the LOD seems to have taken a hit.
The larger facilities are still causing frame rate issues/having those issues within the general (10-15m in game distance) vicinity of the large sockets. This is even so withe the new Gallente.
Hit detection seems to have cleared up, for the most part, but damage translation and communication still have moments of delayed bundles hitting client-side in a big rush causing the appearance of being shot through wall and buildings.
There are still a number of terrain and environmental glitches (domination ridge line/cliff side map has a number of fields of velcro and hooks on the corners.
The AR has a superior hit translation speed, or at least it would seem. I run assault Raven with and Exile and mop regularly right now, with few interspersed points of reduced rewards, but it is low cost and affective. Needless to say I am enjoying myself in that regard, but I really think it has more to do with the corp than anything else.
Now if only CCP would follow through with the weapons for 1.5 (with a few suits, or ****, maybe the rest of them as a nice surprise for all of our patience and sarcasm .

I love it, the new maps are great, aim assist is alittle bit much, I think it should have a gradual decline as you gain more sp, but the laser is wonderful, the graphics look way better. The game seems smoother, matchmaking is ok, it could be better. The one thing that I think it's lacking but isn't a big deal but would be a cool stat to take count of is the number of lifetime assists you have, you could put it in the character sheet. Altogether 1.4 is great, and I hope 1.5 will be even better, thanks CCP. |
