You could also think about construction vs deployment as in Domination or Ambush (OMS?) where the stuff is deployed during battle. You could request that stuff from your battlefield commander (a role that is still not available though) and point out where you need them.
you can't see remote explosives or proxy mines so they offer no detarance. as for being too fast paced, i don't think that makes a difference. people will always be trying to take over different points. sometimes they just spam vehicles or tanks to overwhelm them. being able to fortify against vehicles even for a short time would balance out defense and make it a bit more viable when the enemy is vehicle heavy. not everyone is KDR mad and decided to defend instead. buying time to send help back to a point could only be beneficial to all, more kills all around as positions are harder to take and require tactics rather than overwhelming force. |

Hmm now that I think about it, where would this item go in the skill tree?

actually i was thinking about this just a few hours ago and i would place these as an off chute of nano hives. it would require nano circuitry and then nano fabrication skills
so something along the lines of
nano circuitry 3 as prerequisite nano fabrication 1 (basic) nano fabrication 3 (advanced) nano fabrication 5 (proto)
this or just have the available at the same level as nano hives and needle are available from the nano circuitry skill. |

Nah, let them be a branch skill (from nano is ok as it makes sense) as I don't want nano circuitry to have too much value.

i was just thinking, what if ccp created a tiling system where when the device is deployed it essentially creates a tile and then a random item from the set of pre defined items is placed on its spot such as barrels, boxes, concrete pillars, caltrops, barricades, civilian bodies etc
this way its like the mercs have created a barricade using what's lying about |

with the changes to vehicles allowing them to come in close and fight for longer without being killed so easily i think these will be needed in the future.

sit there and construct could work. limited quantities i already addressed. i don't think shields are relevant to its purpose nor do i think self rep is. these are simply denial tools. although repair via rep tool i think would be ok. active maintainance to keep them working is better than to just simply forget about them

This is an awesome idea, I'd love to carry these around. Really excellent.
But also: holy sh*t, it's spelled teeth, bro, not teath.
Edit: I think they should be all armor, with ~10hp/s rep and maybe 1000 HP. Destroyable with enough small arms fire, but not instantly, making their use as infantry cover limited but existent. Also, huge collision damage resistance- we know the devs can do splash resist for heavies, I bet they can manage collision damage resist for something like this. |

This is a cool idea that adds options to the game rather than removing them.
+! to the OP for this rather than another thread asking for vehicle limitations.
This also gives Logis an expanded role in combat engineering.

The A-SL locks on to more than 1 vehicle at a time right? This actually could be nice. Would also work as a sort of E-War in a sense that placing teeth near a friendly tank would make it more difficult to lock-on to it as your Launcher would keep trying to target the teeth. ... ... ! I can see so many things happening with this lol. Picture a cloaked scout gets into position and manages to place RE on them right before the rest of the team is able to push forward. Tanks show up and right when they reach the barricade the scout sets off the RE, destroying the teeth and killing anyone attempting to use it as cover!
Oh man! Why isn't this in yet!?
