considering that the heavy suit is designed to be able to go toe-to-toe with vehicles, so it really needs the armor. |

Armour is more defensive and shields are more offensive, the buff will push armour into its role more. |

Heavies really need the buff. They're way too squishy in addition to being slow and easy to hit. They should be able to take hits and keep coming like Jason Vorhees or something.
And my Gallente suit has been sitting in a corner for over a month now while I work on my Minmatar fit. He needs some action. |

Hmm, I run dual ScPs with damage mods or a Forge Gun. I don't think a large, slow target with masses of health is as much of an issue for me as it will be for other people.
Looking forward to being able to run Wiyrkomi Triage hives with a dualtanked MinLogi, with more armour about medics are gonna medic. No longer shall I be surrounded with plebians who're 90% shields. |

The question is, who would win?
Gallente heavy with a blaster heavy machine gun VS Heavy Armor Blaster Tank Caldari heavy with an assault forge gun VS Heavy Shield Railgun Tank |

Apparently Heavies will be able to get over 1600 hp after the buffs. That means they can survive a direct hit from a forge gun. Which is awesome. |

I would ******* love to see this; if for nothing else than the hilarity of it.

Wait, are they changing the explosive bonus to armor as well? Last I heard it was 130% and if it's still going to be that high, armor is still gonna suck. |

The buff is for everyone. This is stupid. It would have made more sense if the bonuses for armour suits utilised the plates better.
All we have now is better plates with a decrease in movement penalties. A Caldari or mimitar assault will benefit from this buffs too.
This does nothing to differentiate the types of dropsuits.

I'd been wondering about this. Perhaps they still have a bunch of suit spec-related stuff to announce that will make armor plates more useful to Amarr/Gallente or whatever. As it stands, Minmatar Logis and Cal Logis have more low slots than Amarr Assaults... so it's not like there's a compelling advantage to the so-called "armor-tanking races".

they should add active dropsuit hardeners for low slots, if you get caught in cooldown then tuff sht, but of course they just add more hp, watch everyones gonna probably be crying "NERF ARMOR" in two months.,. |

I suggest you to do the math for fully fit suit, cause the hp advantage of gallente suit compared to caldari one is ~90hp in exchange for movement speed.
PROTIP: the buff benefits all suits, caldari can fit plates too. |

Super pumped...as long as they don't penalize shields in any way.
Shields are in a really good spot. Instead of bringing good things down, why not elevate poor things to the level of those good things? That way everybody wins.
However, I think they are just hyping the armor buff as much as they can with their threatening to weaken shields. I don't think they'll actually do it. They were just patting all the armor users on the head a little more. Good little armor users.
My elitist perspective. |

honestly, I dont think so. I agree, I dont see any compelling advantage for amour tanking races. If they had given the suits a 15% bonus to plates stacked or whatever the bonus should be for those suits I would understand the thought process.
But all they have done is increase the HP for everyone. Sadly, this game is still about maximising HP and DPS - and not about differences bonuses or increasing the variety of play types that modules can bring (IMO to achieve this there needs to be greater staking penalites)
