The problem is retention. This ^^ If new players had 2 million SP when they leave the academy they could have much greater survivability than currently, also they would be introduced to corps as well giving more incentive to stay. SP != survivability, never has, never will. I was taking on protosuits with only 1.5 million sp. That's because I play a lot of shooters. It's more about training new players on different play styles and having them learn ones that work for them, not giving them SP that they'll end up wasting on something they know nothing about yet. Well yeah, I have a 3k militia scout suit that kills protos, maddies, almost anything that isn't a shield LLAV. If I didn't say this in one of various previous posts to introduce a (non-skippable) tutorial. |

now this is just a hypothetical, so take it with a grain of salt.
game population is about 800-900 active playing games not afk at any given time.
if PVE was introduced I suspect most new players would run to that rather then getting pub stomped, old players would then stick to playing PVP once they got bored of beating on dumb AI's.
this would leave pvp format as nothing but hardcore proto pub stompers if I was to to take a guess I'd say that is about 35% of the current pvp population but then how and when will the lowly newbie get into pvp? short answer they probably won't. any new player who tried to get into pvp would likely face an army of proto stompers
killing the pvp population slowly over time, and eventually the game.
player retention might go up, and I'm hoping for that result, but f their is no encouragement to move to the "more rewarding" pvp formats, then the game will lose both the pvp and pve minded players eventually.
PVE fills the game with players. Once we have more players then a proper matchmaking system can be introduced.
Right now it's throw everybody into the pool to struggle against sharks and that is completely game breaking and frustrating. And we wonder why new players just give up.
Imagine playing some PVE to gain some SP then decide on some PVP. You choose s lower meta level just to break into it. You can move up more and more until your in that open pvp mode. PVE remains there as a relaxing mode maybe with its own rewards.
Many sharks will be disappointed that the guppies are now gone but the guppies will have a chance to grow. Eventually competitive matches would become the norm rather than stomp after stomp. |

Its only useable for the EVE carebear peeps that are tired of getting stomped in a game that actually require some playerskill. This is not a point and click in space game, its an competitive shooter. Dust has serious playerbase issues, taking even more players away is not a good idea.
...
that point and click in space made this game
and this game is not intended nor was it intended to be just a simple lobby shooter. That's just what we have ended up with currently. |

Nothing at this point word is out that Dust is garbage from players and reviews.
At this point CCP needs to focus on the players they have.
CCP would have to relaunch Dust 2.0 meaning new content, core mechanics fixed, tons of customizations, open world maps, all racial suites & vehicles, player driven market, and full fledge connection with Eve Online.
The things i mentioned won't happen for another 10 years. |

I think: MTACs or Fighters.
In all seriousness, killstreak rewards. Sad as it is to say, it's true. |
