Its only useable for the EVE carebear peeps that are tired of getting stomped in a game that actually require some playerskill. This is not a point and click in space game, its an competitive shooter. Dust has serious playerbase issues, taking even more players away is not a good idea. Why? most people attracted by PvE aren't that good vs other players (the people who get pubstomped) |

this would bring back the competitive scene overnight. We're talking about attracting new players... |

Nguruthos IX wrote:So, Most people here believe core mechanics need fixed and are the only way to gain/keep players. ~This may be true. It was not the question, but it may still be true.
The question was was meant to have a less obvious answer. Basically I was asking other than fixing the actual game, what new element would entice more players interests.
PVE may be the most common answer to the actual question of this thread, however I'm not sure that could be described as a single piece of content. I was thinking much smaller (realistically possible within a small timeframe) things.
a map, a game mode, a suit, a vehicle, a few modules,
PVE requires maps, models, AI, networking, LOTS of consideration in game design / balance. hugely important economic impact decisions, animations ?, storylines, etc etc. Smallest thing with biggest effect? Tutorials and longer academy 100k or 200k WP to graduate. |

PVE will probably save this game because of the chance to actually enjoy this game and not get pub stomped to the point of deleting this game from their console.
im bored of PVP, PE would give me the chance to finally let lose and relax during gameplay by allowing me to explore and interact with things I normally couldn't.. PVE is probably the best chance we have right now What would PVE look like to you? Some level on Star Fox where drones just keep flying in and you have to fend them off for a time till the boss comes? The maps are not really conducive to dungeon type PVE if I'm correct. Maybe all the drones spawned in a city, clones in another and they keep coming at them or something? I really can't imagine how it would work on certain maps like that manus peak - the one that used to be laser heaven with the craigs coming out of the ground. I'd say the opposite, drones spawn outside the city then the Clones try to break out and destroy/disable drone spawns |

Government CheeseBurger wrote:Better tutorials. If that has not been said yet. Also as a side note, CCP if your reading this. Give enough free AUR to purchase 1 BPO of something. Also have a guided tutorial of what it is and where and how to get more. New players have no idea about BPO and how ISK rich you can get playing ISK cheep using BPO. You will find you make more as a free to play model. How about Players choose BPO's like all of the standard starter fits, and the choice of 1 BPO suit, 1 BPO peice of equipment, 1 BPO weapon, 3 BPO modules. |

The problem is retention. This ^^ If new players had 2 million SP when they leave the academy they could have much greater survivability than currently, also they would be introduced to corps as well giving more incentive to stay. |

SP != survivability, never has, never will. I was taking on protosuits with only 1.5 million sp. That's because I play a lot of shooters. It's more about training new players on different play styles and having them learn ones that work for them, not giving them SP that they'll end up wasting on something they know nothing about yet. Well yeah, I have a 3k militia scout suit that kills protos, maddies, almost anything that isn't a shield LLAV. If I didn't say this in one of various previous posts to introduce a (non-skippable) tutorial. |
