All my friends that are currently playing it are preferring to solo (including me) because it's too much hassle getting everyone into 1 fully-functional squad without having to encounter a bug and hardly getting into battles.

As long as you don't pull the plug while the HDD (orange light) is in use you should be fine. Then again, why would you want to pull the plug when the HDD is in use because normally that is when the game is running fine.
