I know what you mean with the grenades. For me they often seem to vanish, but the damage radius is still there; as if the grenade had still gone off.

As long as you don't pull the plug while the HDD (orange light) is in use you should be fine. Then again, why would you want to pull the plug when the HDD is in use because normally that is when the game is running fine.
