Another reason for destroying a supply depot is to utterly cripple the enemy. When you eliminate such a valuable asset it's an effective and valid tactic, especially when it's used to supply the enemy team with ammunition that could decimate you.

I got pretty damn lucky with 4,787,000 isk and around 650,000 sp, 300 forges and only 21 HMGs... although i went an average of 20 kills for over 70 games with HMGs.
