I believe CCP made them less nimble in an attempt to make them easier to fly. Or at least they did that one build. Obviously, those efforts were in vain because I saw a dropship take off and immediately fly into one of the big rocks in manus peak.

I personally wouldn't run flaylock with AV- it's more of a backup weapon. Throw a ton of points into scrambler pistols, and any infantry that try to kill you will be sorry.
