I get kill assists very easily with an ADS. Surprisingly more common than any other method. I have only been able to finish the kill assist while in a vehicle mission that way.

Even the basic ion pistol is awesome without the charged shot. I run my own commando fit which is a scout suit with two sidearms. I haven't played it much lately, but I have two adv ion pistols on it and it works pretty well.

Pay attention to server lag. It's real. Everything (graphics, sound effects and damage registration) take a good second at least ro catch up most times. Working around that can go a long way in dealing with players that take a while to shoot down.
