I know it sucks, but the plasma cannon does exist, and is a light dumbfire AV weapon. single shot, minor charge time, does less damage than the swarm launcher, and requires you to be closer. not entirely sure what hte point of it was, but it does...

actually, there is one upside to shield tanking. those little pricks who run up, plop down a hive and spam every av nade in the entire game at you will blindly follow your tank as you back up and lure them a good 30 meters out while tanking those...
