More importantly, there is no downside to having a skill. There's no limit on how much SP you can have so there's never a reason so untrain a skill.

If you wanna be more team-friendly as a sniper try living up to your dropsuit's name. Be a scout-sniper. Up your scan resolution skills and fit passive scanners. Maybe even carry an active scanner.
