My question is mainly for the big corporation out there ie beta max, zion etc. Are snipers useful in corporations ? I was sniping the other day and was thinking about this because I use to call out enemy location and spotted while sniping but quit do to lack of open ears. Because of this I decided just to lone wolf and not join a corporation because I specialize in sniping. I would like to think snipers have a value on the battle field but am starting to think this like one of those meme "this what everyone thinks I do" this is what I think I do" "this is what I really do". I have no problem being a lone wolf, I was just wondering what the big corps think. |

I don't need to be a corp CEO to answer this. Of course snipers are useful to a team, provided they are actually skilled and play with the team. Cover fire is very, very useful, as the sniper can scare the enemies to hide behind a wall while a slow heavy can run across the open to annihilate the enemy up-close and personal. |

We have a few snipers in our corp. One only snipes. It's not useless provided you make your self useful. Be helpful in spotting the enemy, provide cover for your squad, pinpoint ideal OB sites. These are all great assets to a team. However there is the other mentality where you just look out for yourself and get as many kills as you can without helping your teammates. This would not beube useful in a corp. |

Being a sniper is not the important question, they will obviously always have a use. The clincher is when you have too many snipers. |

If you wanna be more team-friendly as a sniper try living up to your dropsuit's name. Be a scout-sniper. Up your scan resolution skills and fit passive scanners. Maybe even carry an active scanner. |

Every squad needs at least one sniper. They can do anything from recon and cover fire to simply being a counter-sniper. |

Every squad is way too much.
That's 2 snipers for 8v8 and 8 snipers in 24v24.
Way too many. |

So...pretty much like every FPS with a sniper class ever? At least with a corp you can tell someone to not be a sniper if you have a better one on your team.

Not all snipers are useless but most are. A great sniper in an invaluable addition to any team. The problem is the majority of snipers give the lot a really bad name.

I've actually always been a pretty good sniper, it's the only thing in a FPS that I'm really, truly good at.
but i don't play one here, because I don't really feel useful when there are 924738963942749 friendly snipers sitting up on the hills. |

If there are multiple squads from 1 corp in a battle, I would say 1 sniper per 2 squads. |

Sniping is pretty useful for softening up infantry, or taking them out once they've already been damaged, as well as the occasional one-shot kills. ALso for spotting threats across the field, and counter sniping, I personally enjoy sniping when I'm a squad leader, getting into a position where I can cover my squad and "paint" targets so they and I get xp bonuses for whatever we are going after. Those issuing command features are so unwieldy i don't enjoy doing it from an unsafe position. I think two snipers, maybe even three are very usefu (so long as they are somewhat decent) l in keeping the enemy team off balance, and exposed. Anymore than three and you're likely not going to take or hold many objectives as a team. |

I like having snipers on my team/squad, as they keep the enemy team snipers off our backs (or at least slow them down/distract them).
Also snipers may be the best choice for squad leader, as they can mark targets without having to run to a safe spot and waste time (as the in-the-action AR/heavy guy would have to, which a lot of the time is difficult and risky). And they likely are the best choice for handling orbital strikes for the squad due to their view of the battlefield and out-of-the-action playstyle.
At least from my eyes, snipers definitely have a vital role. In a 4 man squad, 1 sniper, 1 heavy and 2 AR guys is a pretty awesome mix. Definitely wouldn't want that for every single squad on the team, but for smaller numbers it seems to work. |

Love the name OP.
I have to say, everyone can find a place in a corp as long as they're working for them, but more specifically in a squad or small ops team a proper recon sniper can be beast.
Ours doesn't talk much, but he's the Stig of sniping. He'll do his thing to take out other snipers that have us pinned down as well as pointing out enemies around our location that we can't see, or even supporting us in a firefight from a quarter-klck away. Yeah, we've all been saved in head-to-head because while we're equal to an enemy squad facing us, a couple long-range rounds through their domes both throws them off and cuts our necessary damage output.
We all try to communicate locations when we're running together but it's hard when we're all limited to what we can see on the ground. Having a good support sniper is awesome, and having a communicative recon sniper can and will be a huge advantage over an enemy squad or team.
Edit:
Lone wolves are for the dogs. They're generally hiding within 100m of their red-line trying to be safe rather than stealthing up onto hills over enemy spawns and encampments. Those are the ones you want to avoid working with or becoming if you're planning on joining a corp or squad as a recon longshot. |

A good sniper is a corporate man. The others who don't even try help the rest of the team are pretty much just taking up space. |

If the sniper is good and can effectively defend a area or "null cannon" then he is a great asset to the corp, but all lone wolf snipers i see rarely do anything to help the team in random matches.. they need to be coordinated i tell yah!!

Depends on what you want them used for. A single sniper in a 32 man team is useful. More than one is a waste.
If you aren't doing a corp match, snipers are incredibly useful. Chances are, they aren't going to die, but they are still going to get paid. So, they should end up with millions of isk, and nothing to spend it on.
They have a ton of extra money available to them for donations. |

Boring yes, but very satisfying when you get a one hit kill via head shot. As long as said sniper is actually helping his squad by providing cover fire on objectives. Usually im only a sniper if im squad leader, that way I can lay down commands from a distance while providing cover fire while my squad carrys out those commands, then move on to a good vantage point for the second objective and so forth. |

When I snipe ppl, Im usually somewhere where I can see an objective hack point and train my sights around that area. I'm kinda useful actually when I do play. Really only time I die is when multiple ppl come to the point and over run me.
Or I try to snipe ppl out of the installations lol |
