I've seen this as well, I think its due to bodies glitching into the ground. Although I'm not entirely certain. I have noticed that sometimes I can be standing directly over the spot and still be 2m away.

The Rail is currently the DPS heavy hitter. Its also the long range rifle. A weapon with High Optimal range should have a lower DPS. Not necessarily a hit to its damage but by hitting its fire rate down to about 75% or 50% on the main Breach model...

Good thoughts. Of courses, there are other considerations such as Effective vs. Optimal range. Weapons with very low Optimum Ranges should have a higher theoretical DPS than weapons with much higher optimum ranges.
