Not really. The only thing special about this game is customized dropsuit/vehicle loadouts and the EVE skill system. Other than that there is nothing present another shooter doesn't do better. Call of Duty, Battlefield, Borderlands, Counter Strike...

Used to mess around in the academy when I was testing weapons out. Pretty much slaughtered everything that moved. I felt bad afterwards, but didn't stop me from doing it. This was back before they nerfed the Academy to one battle and you're out.
