I remember playing against the infamous breach when it was actually useful, and when HAVs were half worth a damn.
I remember getting my Character reset for the Open Beta Newberries.
I also remember the terribad state of DUST in the early Uprising patches.
Yup. Still getting Pubstomped. Solo players never get a head. |

If my memory serves me correct didn't you start with Zion or something? Can't remember, but remember you upsetting them or something. In any case, you didn't start with the Imperfects, you were first in Imp swarm.

Never used proto gear in pubs till Uprising.
Heavy Proto gear was too expensive for a peasant like me. Even in Uprising I only really use Medium proto suits + proto ARs in pubs. Probably brought out proto heavy stuff a handful of times prior to 1.4. |

I don't have any memory of being proto stomped.
my first games I got tank stomped, I guess it was august of last year. a little discouraged by the failure of my scout with an HMG idea. (yup i understood the game that well) I skilled up a ton of random weapons and caldari medium frames just playing with fits (rather poorly).
every battle i'd look at the opposing team and some jerks with the name STB-[name here] would be over there. I knew it would be a bad match from the get go. predictably STB-[namehere] would drop a shield missile tank and wreck ****.
as for the inspirational story of how I got gud, there isn't much to say it shoved me into a corp(Zion TCD) so i had a prayer of taking out these monstrosities.
if you hear "STB knows tanks" that's where it came from.

I remember closed BETA where I got in to a match that was just me and Aldin Kan (SP? sorry can't remember who was who, in his tank and me with a forge. I got my ass totally handed to me but that was easily one of the most fun matches I've ever played.
Not really related to the OP I guess but is a fun memory. |

Good players are good no matter what gear you give them just like bad players will always be bad no matter what amount of SP they have. I am bad at fps games and I know that my performance is directly tied to my personal skill and I don't think some people want to accept the fact that there is better players. People want things to be equal and fair but we are playing a game that doesn't do fair or care if we are equal. That is one of the reasons this game is fun.
I have stomped and I have been stomped and it is almost always is determined by my squad and the team we are on. If we are disorganized and don't fight to accomplish one thing we get stomped and the reverse of that is true also. I started playing when it first went closed beta and if you never got stomped in Chorme then yo haven't been stomped.
Three dropships hovering at the redline squashing anyone who spawned in while three HAVs sat at the redline and blasted missiles and turrets continuously. Dropships and tanks firing from the towers with infinite ammo, high rof/damage missiles that could shoot across the map. Good times. |

It would be much the opposite - It was a comment directed more towards the declining intelligence shown around here and the declining entertainment the trolls have been giving. |

I miss the days of running a heavy in the early part Of each the builds going stomp happy. Oh the tears were epic. When every week there was a thread about how us Imperfects were pub stomping and ruining the game lol.
I must say it was something to see all Of us going 20+ and zero to the other teams negative if any kills. |

Lycuo wrote:This is going to be a thread for those of us who get complaints all the time of running full proto in pub matches...
I want to hear every old members memories of when they first started out and how badly they got protostomped and why it is actually a good thing to do because it drives the committed and good players to become great players...
So we will start out with mine... .....When i first started this game i am a student of the EvE universe so being highly versed in the EvE skilling tree I had no problem managing my way around this skill tree. My character had all the best stats i could give it and I was even good at first person shooters (like CoD and Bf3) having that quick twitch hand muscles making it easy to move target to target and keeping enemies in my sights.
....What i could not figure out for the life of my is why people (back in the day) like toyboi or regynum or protoman could survive facing off versus a whole team when their stats were only slightly higher than mine. At this time i was in On The Brink which in my opinion was not a horrible group but for sure not the best corp out there. Slowly through the help of my OTB friends and studying better gamers i learned how to use this games aiming to my advantage and also how to combine certain elements of my dropsuits that seemed a little outlandish to make a strong, faster, better dropsuit. But this still did not allow me to face off against whole teams. It merely made me able to kill just about anyone 1 on 1 and have a fighting chance against the greats of the time.
.....It wasnt until i randomly one day got to squad with toyboi that i realized the aspect of the game that i was missing that all the greats had. My dropsuit at the time was ofcourse the b-series assault dropsuit. I loved my shields because they were able to recharge fast after i had killed someone. But what i never did was in the middle of a gunfight give them a chance to start recovering before killing my first target, so that when my second target or third or fourth came into the area, I was less weakened then if i had just finished him off right there. This was the missing aspect on how to beast a whole team together... give yourself a second or two to recover because most players in this game run after someone who is damaged rather than licking their wounds and trying to survive another day.
.....The other thing this allowed for was me to be in a better position to finish off these players who chased me around because i was able to use corners to my advantage peaking out and back in when i wanted to not when they wanted me to... This is when i feel like i became someone that wasnt just another pushover and finally could compete.
.....I then went on to get my proto vk.1 suit and fitted it to maximize my survivability to damage ratio and started to earn back my kdr that was soooo damaged from the hard knocks of this game. In using both great strategy and a great suit i was able to push from a 1.34 kdr at 3,500 kills to a 5.46 at 34,000 kills. This is also a way to prove urself and get noticed by the better (or even best) players and make ur way into their corps or alliances like i feel i have recently.
The thing is protostomping is a one sided battle mostly... But in saying that its only a one sided battle for a short period... Eventually the good up and coming players will figure out the strategy to this game and they too will obtain prototype suits with their own tweak on great strategies that can counter you and they too will become a "great" at this game. If we all ran militia to make it even when you start then we would all have a player base like Call of Duty does where 99.9% of the players are casual players who couldnt even tell you what a "route" was and they would be stat boosters for the .1% that was competitive gamers who run routes, push spawns, team cap and it would be pointless.
This game pushes you to better yourself and instead of giving up... figure out what they do that you dont so that you can survive an encounter with them... and maybe with a few friends you can kill them... I promise you killing us once with a standard or militia rifle annoys us but if u get us twice... It will get you noticed and if u get us more than that you will make it onto someones team no matter how few skill points you have.
So lets hear all the other veteran stories of your learning the game while getting protostomped...
Your not an 'old timer then' when I started geks were amazing and not a single person had proto, no double or triple sp events so proto took ages to get. You had it fking easy with those.
I got into closed beta but my code didn't work so I had to wait for open beta, downloaded it within a minute of it going live. |

I was one of the victims that got protostomped when i first started, lost in the maps, spawning in crowded CRU spawn killers lol.. What sucked me in to this game is the skill point system, Never seen an FPS quite like this one. It got me to want to raise that skill point so I can get some payback.
But sometimes i still feel bad to wear proto gear to pub matches. So i just use STD/ADV gear to better my gameplay |

I never strafed and i played like how i would when I'm playing battlefield. When I joined carbon 7, they taught me how to finally activate my mic and people like dzaster striker should me the ropes and my kdr gradually increased. I didnt get proto til half way through the build before chromo. |
