Well honestly, It varies. It's all about specialty and playstyle here. You said you wanted to be Assault, so I would run with the 'Assault - Frontline' suit. There's also 'Anti-Armor', 'Sniper', and 'Medic'. They're all pretty self explanitory.

Remember: In the Market there's a Militia Gear section. They have Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, Forge Guns, and lots of other stuff for you there to try out. No skills needed. :)
