So I don't run assault and when I say that I mean AT ALL so I thought that I'd run a few matches as one, nothing fancy just my skinweave suit a couple of complex shields and a basic armor plate with a little exile/toxin for weapons.
I am now without doubt that this game is balenced for the assault class.
For the few matches I played in that suit I could stand up to any class of any teir, I easily soloed prototype assault/logis and was only killed when I was outnumbered (or got run over by lavs/shot by a tank) and heavys and scouts melted against me in one on one combat.
The speed reduction compaired to the scout was minimal at best meaning I could move just as well as if I was in a scout suit with 1.1/2 the hp, in a militia suit!
It was so ridiculously easy it made me literally physically sick, that's not something I'm saying to be dramatic either it made me physically ill to the point that after my second match I was kneeling over my toilet.
I thought at first that it was just those I was playing against but after getting second place in a match against two corparations I had to throw that thought away.
This is extramly saddening for me knowing that as a scout I've literaly been given the shaft when it comes to unit effectiveness I did more in that militia assault suit then I ever could in even my adv scout and I venture to say the heavy most likely has it no better.
The militia suit I was wearing was more effective at combating prototype suits and gear then my adv or even pro scout suit and I figured since they are so good then the upgraded versions would perhaps not be so much better then the lower teir.
So visited a friend and borrowed his pro/adv assault and logi suits to run some test and I quickly found I couldn't be more wrong.
this is only worsened by teir as the medium suit gets stronger being able to carry more gear in the logi's case and fit better mods/weapons it goes from combat effective to the ultimate in anti infantry, as a scout I didn't realize how much damage the pro AR and SCR actually did but I do now.
Without a squadron I wiped out squads worth of hostiles in seconds due to the damage of the weapon and the massive ehp no matter the class.
headshots were amazingly easy to get due to the near non exsistant recoil and I quickly came to hate the sound as it poped up atleast once for every three hostiles I downed it got to the point I turned my friend's tv volume down to five cause it scared the crap out of me since I never use much but my mass driver and hardly get them with the smg.
It was disturbing how effortless putting them down was to the point where I didn't even die most matches or only died to things like OBs or vehicles and the latter was very few times due to my boy putting on adv AV nades on the fit, amd this was after a proto light weapon and proto mods!
And when I went to see what I could fit on the suit compared to the scout I almost had to puke again.
These suits can do the heavy or scout's job better then we can and still have enough cpu/pg to spare for pinpoint deadly weapons that outclass almost every handheld anti infantry weapon in the game making the medium frame/AR combo I used perfect on any situation with no downside whatsoever besides an extremely lite speed reduction that was still fast enough to backpedal from a scout with nova knives at one point while emptying my clip in the poor bastard's face as he tried and failed to walk foward fast enough to catch me.
I just don't know what to say now, I'm in shock at how easy the class was to play I knew there was a gap in effectiveness in the classes but this is insanity.

I've never gotten such drastic effects from trying out being an assault person, but I agree with you. I skilled up as a heavy proto n all that good stuff, it was all cool until I realized how weak us heavys are! I tried using the assault suit and it is way too good. I used to run a scout.
Now I use a minmatar assault, which is far better in CQC. With just 1 basic kincat, my sprint speed is almost the same as my minmatar scout; along with far more eHP |

depends on what you are trying to do.
assaults are the offensive suit and thus are meant to be the strongest suit to frontal assault.
heavies currently only have sentinels which are supposed to be the strongest at holding a point, they may get an assault variant in the future.
commandos are the versatile suit and are best at filling multiple roles and adapting.
scouts are......ummm......fast

if assaults are so good at assaulting positions why do they get eqiopment slots? why are logi's just weaker assault suits? the heavy is garbage... people say it supposed to be good at point defense but you can hold the same position better with an assault than you can with the heavy, (slow turn speed, HMG does same damage as an AR with 4x the dispersion, horrible movement speed, has a larger hit box, survives only 1second more under fire than an assault with 1/2 the movement speed, no equipment slots) commandos only advantage is carrying two primaries but their ehp is so low they die before they can even switch to their 2nd primary, their movement speed is only marginally better than a regular heavy, with no high or low slots.
Assaults can do everything and theirfore require nno additional suits. if you have a squad of 6 of assaults. one guy can have 3 guys can use av nades, 3 guys can use flux, 2 guys with drop uplinks, 2 guys with ammo hives, and 1 guy with a nanite injector and the last with a amor rep, and now you not only have an anti vehicle squad but a perfectly selfsuficent team that needs no logi and can defend points better than a heavy.
don't frget they still each can carry a godvolle or assault scrambler rilfe.
assaults can do everything better than everyone basically. |

being strong at something doesn't mean they exclude all other features. thus why assault has an equipment slot, and logis have guns =P
as for heavies sucking, please explain why PC battles are generally 40% heavies. I doubt the best corps in the game would use ****** suits for no reason.

Assalt = Works as intended and needs no further tweaking.
Heavy = Needs new races. Can't really tell if a buff is needed until other races are released to see all possibilities.
Scout = Needs to get rushed to the ER! In 1.4 they plan to make turn speed same for all classes... that was the one true advantage we had vs heavies... now what are we gonna do!? (I'm a fan of music XD)

Yeah, mediums don't really serve as jack of all trades right now, they're more in the region of king.
Think it might be possible that a Caldari Assault or Logi can even outsprint a max speed Minja if they really, really wanted to. 3 or 4 Complex Kinetics versus 2. Something to chew on.
Higher base health, not that far behind on speed, same strafe, same hitboxes, more CPU/PG, more slots, access to better racial and role specialisation skills.
Negatives: higher scan profile, lower shield recovery, slightly less speed... nope, that's it. |

You tried sneaking up on me one time when I was playing against you. I can't remember how our fight ended, but I remember it lasted awhile. Anyways, This is my thoughts exactly. I had several alts passive training SP so I could get pretty much every suit (and so if one of my accounts gets banned on the forums, I can still talk **** ). I tried Light frames first, said damn, then tried mediums, said wtf? way better, then tried Heavies, said damn, then went back to vehicles and cried. Oh well, they said they're going to do a balance pass on pretty much everything SOONtm, so we'll have to wait and see....... |

Just like to say as being completely skilled in core and what not for a Heavy. The only thing I die from other than the obvious (LAVs, HAVs, etc.) is the GEK, I rip through anything and anyone but a GEK melts me. to OP.
The assault/logi class is fine, but us scouts and heavies are suffering from the assaults shooting down our threads, if we say buff scouts, the assaults say "the scouts are fine, just add mods" than I got a MLT CALDARI SUIT and fit 2 PROTO SHIELD EXTENDERS and a MLT assault rifle and std nanohives, dnt remember whats in the lows, but I also do better in the medium.
IN SHORT: scouts are in dire need of a buff, heavies also need a buff... possibly increase DMG on HMG to AR level... or reduce the dispersion with a slight buff to dmg

1.4 gonna really kill my scout T_T.
I hope CCP has something planned in order to keep our heads above ground at least.
I'm actually, to an extent, fine with the scout being less of a combat class TBH but the idea of getting into a fight = auto death is just wrong. If that is going to be the case then take away are dam weapons, double are cpu/pg, give an extra equip, and increase our base speed. That way when can work behind the scenes as CCP apparently is trying to force us into doing.
Don't get me wrong, the fact that the heavies get some assistance is a good thing in my eyes as that brings them one step closer to being balanced. But I just hate when helping one means hurting another. Especially when the one being hurt already has a broken leg.

TBH I don't think scouts are meant for combat. Which is terrible because that's the only thing there is to do in this game.
I think that the light frame should get a 15% boost in CPU/pg and an extra equipment slot and two extra at proto.
I remember the type-2 scout from closed beta. that thing was useful in a medic/support capacity as it was able to flank an enemy, res a fallen ally and give him reps then flank some more.
Give the scout the ability to work as a decent support unit. with more equipment slots the scout could actually be usefull for dropping explosives behind enemy lines, setting up a base camp of kinds (uplinks and hives) or a decent frontline medic (revives and reps). T |

HERE IS THE POINT TO A SCOUT:
USELESS IN FRONTLINE COMBAT BUT GREAT AT EVERYTHING ELSE.
1. flanking manuevers (engaging the enemy from their weak point) 2. hit-and-run tactics (skirmishing weaking enemy forces) 3. drop uplink kings (self explanitory) 4. quick hacking, and covert operations
scouts are never to engage in frontline head on combat, but surpise attacks are their thing.
right now the game doesn't help scouts accomplish any of the above profile scanning is hit and miss right now scouts arent really that much faster than assaults and logis and their hacking speed isnt really increased by that much scouts don't get any advantage for using snipers so might as use a heavy and snipe

Always remember, there is no weapon beside the shotgun that has enough alpha damage to make a sneak attack worthwhile. That means if you want to engage in combat with a scout, use a shotgun. Well, Nova Knives work too, but if you're willing to go down that road I can't help you anymore.
Alternatively you can play support by placing REs and uplinks where you think they are going to be useful. But other than that, change to a suit that actually makes sense for the job.
P.S.: I have limited experience as a Scout. Mostly just leisure time Nova Knifing, but as a stock assault player I know that the only effective scout is a shotgun scout or a scout that stays far away from my sights. |

okay first off after reading over this thread seems people are doing a lot of crying with the same standard bs complaints
my heavy sucks first question do you have logi support if not don't run a heavy your not the terminator so don't try to think your unkillable or need to be
scout suits suck really seriously scouts are good for two things run in blow someones head off and get out of dodge or sniping both are two very important roles as a sniper calls out targets and where the enemy's positions is run and gun scout speed tanking there in and out and your dead and never eve saw it coming
assault suits versicle offensive and defensive suits the front line fighters mobility with defensive and offensive while not overly good at any of it are balanced to fill the roles grunts are needed two
logi i cant fight on the front lines and not going 20-0 in a match well no kidding your there to give a tactical advantage to your team through reviving teammates healing giving spawn locations for tactical advantages mainly your there to keep people in the fight going and if the fall to get them back in the fight asap
this is dust not cod or battlefield it rewards teamwork and squads working together for the same objective you wanna win and win big work as a team
with all that being said every suit is oped when being used appropriately with teams working together
and to the op if your having issues with getting sick while playing a video game you need to go see a doctor this is a game and not something to cause yourself physical harm over |

That means if you want to engage in combat with a scout, use a shotgun. Well, Nova Knives work too, but if you're willing to go down that road I can't help you anymore. Shotgun needs work. CQC gameplay is choppy and also needs work. Hoping these are fixed by 1.4's aiming improvements. Folks being able to turn around faster is bad news for shotgunners, especially Scout shotgunners.
My money's on medium Protos w/Duvolle ARs reigning supreme in 1.4. They're presently kings of combat at every range, and improved aiming and rotation speed will boost their existing, every-role advantage. I suspect heavies will perform slightly better and scouts will perform substantially worse. Big gameplay changes will be required to balance other roles against AR-514. As a CQC Scout, I'm 100% in favor of the proposed TacNet nerf / Active Scanner buff. |

I will buy that the assault suit is this OP when my squad members report "three assaults inbound" with the same note of repressed panic that greets an equivalent number of heavies. |

I've yet to see someone say the assault suite was OP. The scouts are UP and 1.4 is gonna make that worse. By taking squad sharing off this helps scouts sneak but makes it harder to give intell if you don't have a mic or your mic is not working ATM. This really is only an issue for snipers I suppose. I'm considering branching into scanners when 1.4 comes out though as they get a nice buff with a the possibility of them giving WPs.

if assaults are so good at assaulting positions why do they get eqiopment slots? why are logi's just weaker assault suits? the heavy is garbage... people say it supposed to be good at point defense but you can hold the same position better with an assault than you can with the heavy, (slow turn speed, HMG does same damage as an AR with 4x the dispersion, horrible movement speed, has a larger hit box, survives only 1second more under fire than an assault with 1/2 the movement speed, no equipment slots) commandos only advantage is carrying two primaries but their ehp is so low they die before they can even switch to their 2nd primary, their movement speed is only marginally better than a regular heavy, with no high or low slots. I stopped reading after the first sentence. Do you have any clue how powerful logi suits are against assault suits? Their penalty is minimal in comparison to what they gain. |

Assaults and Logi's do what they're supposed to do. Heavies need a slight buff, not too much as it's not that underpowered, but a slight one.
Scouts need help ASAP. |

I love my basic scout suit, I got it for access to the pilot suit coming "soon" and I have surprising success with it, though I do need a better weapon for it. You have to maximise your strengths - your fast, manoeuvrable and can cover a hell of a lot of ground. You can speed hack unguarded locations, get into better shooting positions and drop uplinks in far flung positions to get the team back into the fight.
Something I've noticed is the strange firefight fixation everyone has. Maybe its cus I'm a logi most of the time (the nicely balanced MM one) so I can't go toe to toe with dedicated offensive suits but everyone lines up and gets shot at - hardest / most numerous / better shot wins - Seems so moronic to me, never heard of outflanking? Falling back to get to better ground where you have the advantage?
Anyway, I love it. Scout is definitely my next venture. |

Good luck on your next branch out. I personally am going to branch into logi considering it to is a tactical class.
It's not that we can't kill but that we can't survive that we are not liking. With the obvious exception of the ninja and shotgunners who rely on offence more then defense. If everyone gets the same turn speed then there is no way to survive a heavy encounter as this will happen from time to time rather you try to avoid it or not. The scouts base speed isn't high enough to escape a fire fight without kinkats and the SP dump required for just the basic ones are outrageous.
Don't get me wrong, with skill you can still pull off some amazing s*** with light frames as I have done on many occasions but many times it's due to luck or the enemy's own incompetence. (managed to hack "A" while redlined... was playing domination.)
Scout role difficulties;
Psychotic = Ninja Insane = Shotgunner Hard = Pilot, Sniper, Field Manager Normal = your a scout so this doesn't apply to you. Easy = lol
[Field manager is an umbrella term to represent all unmentioned scout roles]

If you stopped reading afte the first sentence number 1 you have ADD, and number 2 you play assault and not logi. number 3 i wasn't counting caldari logis

This is what I've been harping on in the AR threads, for a projectile based weapon to not have a recoil, especially when zooming, is ridiculous. For laser weapons it actually makes sense, and is countered by the overheat mechanic. The AR has none of those downsides though. Got a headshot?, just keep firing and place every round in the exact same spot, forget having to adjust for recoil. |

+1 OP.
You said it man.
Assault role is easy mode in this game.
That's why I want to respec. I want to be Caldari Assault again... the only way to roll. The game will be boring, but at least you can take on anybody, anywhere, anytime. |

i agree with Sinboto Simmons. The Medium class suits have it good. Way fast. (A minmatar assault or a gallante assault can do Scout job a LOT better). Minmatar:1 Cpx Kinetic catalizer + cpx reactive scales will give you Scout speed,a little more armor and total of 3 Rp/s.You still ahve 5 high powered slots to fill. Gallante: With 5 Low p slots, the amount of scout mimicking modules you can equip are ridiculous . Speed and stamina enhancers, profile dampening modules, radar enhancing modules etc....And you still have 3 Hgh powered slots for some effective shielding or damage modifiers.
Way Sturdy.(Caldari and Amarr can tank unbelievably well) Caldari: I dont need to explain the powerful shield tanking abilities the caldari have. Amarr. In my alt, i use a PROTO Amarr assault (scrambler rifle).3 Cx shield ext, cx armor repairer, enhanced armor plate, kinetic catalyzer, And i have a total of 806 HP and move decently fast at 7.5 ish sprinting speed. You cant even imagine how sad you feel for heavies moving so slow just for some extra HP....
Now , i wont ask for a NERF on Medium suits. They are good, but thats the point of a game. That everything is good and usable. What we NEED is a BUFF on scouts and Heavies, and god help the Commandos cuz i dont think they have a fix XD (They need a LOT more PG and CPU,maybe a little more HP)
We passed from a Scout in chromosome with 6 High/low powered slots, 2 Equipment slots and unparalleled speed and good fitting options, To crappy scouts with under powered features that make it laughable to use.(Not to mention the Gallante scout basic is white. a Beacon of light in the shadows. nice...)
I request buff for scouts and heavies :3 |
