So I don't run assault and when I say that I mean AT ALL so I thought that I'd run a few matches as one, nothing fancy just my skinweave suit a couple of complex shields and a basic armor plate with a little exile/toxin for weapons.
I am now without doubt that this game is balenced for the assault class.
For the few matches I played in that suit I could stand up to any class of any teir, I easily soloed prototype assault/logis and was only killed when I was outnumbered (or got run over by lavs/shot by a tank) and heavys and scouts melted against me in one on one combat.
The speed reduction compaired to the scout was minimal at best meaning I could move just as well as if I was in a scout suit with 1.1/2 the hp, in a militia suit!
It was so ridiculously easy it made me literally physically sick, that's not something I'm saying to be dramatic either it made me physically ill to the point that after my second match I was kneeling over my toilet.
I thought at first that it was just those I was playing against but after getting second place in a match against two corparations I had to throw that thought away.
This is extramly saddening for me knowing that as a scout I've literaly been given the shaft when it comes to unit effectiveness I did more in that militia assault suit then I ever could in even my adv scout and I venture to say the heavy most likely has it no better.
The militia suit I was wearing was more effective at combating prototype suits and gear then my adv or even pro scout suit and I figured since they are so good then the upgraded versions would perhaps not be so much better then the lower teir.
So visited a friend and borrowed his pro/adv assault and logi suits to run some test and I quickly found I couldn't be more wrong.
this is only worsened by teir as the medium suit gets stronger being able to carry more gear in the logi's case and fit better mods/weapons it goes from combat effective to the ultimate in anti infantry, as a scout I didn't realize how much damage the pro AR and SCR actually did but I do now.
Without a squadron I wiped out squads worth of hostiles in seconds due to the damage of the weapon and the massive ehp no matter the class.
headshots were amazingly easy to get due to the near non exsistant recoil and I quickly came to hate the sound as it poped up atleast once for every three hostiles I downed it got to the point I turned my friend's tv volume down to five cause it scared the crap out of me since I never use much but my mass driver and hardly get them with the smg.
It was disturbing how effortless putting them down was to the point where I didn't even die most matches or only died to things like OBs or vehicles and the latter was very few times due to my boy putting on adv AV nades on the fit, amd this was after a proto light weapon and proto mods!
And when I went to see what I could fit on the suit compared to the scout I almost had to puke again.
These suits can do the heavy or scout's job better then we can and still have enough cpu/pg to spare for pinpoint deadly weapons that outclass almost every handheld anti infantry weapon in the game making the medium frame/AR combo I used perfect on any situation with no downside whatsoever besides an extremely lite speed reduction that was still fast enough to backpedal from a scout with nova knives at one point while emptying my clip in the poor bastard's face as he tried and failed to walk foward fast enough to catch me.
I just don't know what to say now, I'm in shock at how easy the class was to play I knew there was a gap in effectiveness in the classes but this is insanity.
Add more when I play assault again I guess, post thoughts below in the meantime. |

Looks like solid changes and will give scouts a roll to fill that is invaluable to the squadron it will still however leave us weakened in combat. |

D legendary hero wrote:HERE IS THE POINT TO A SCOUT:
USELESS IN FRONTLINE COMBAT BUT GREAT AT EVERYTHING ELSE.
1. flanking manuevers (engaging the enemy from their weak point) 2. hit-and-run tactics (skirmishing weaking enemy forces) 3. drop uplink kings (self explanitory) 4. quick hacking, and covert operations
scouts are never to engage in frontline head on combat, but surpise attacks are their thing.
right now the game doesn't help scouts accomplish any of the above profile scanning is hit and miss right now scouts arent really that much faster than assaults and logis and their hacking speed isnt really increased by that much scouts don't get any advantage for using snipers so might as use a heavy and snipe
Good rundown sir definitely agree with you on your points |
