Never played any BF games before and I must say it is very confusing compared to Dust. It is deffinitely not noob friendly jumping into multiplayer from the start and I have stopped playing it again to go back to Dust. I remember the beginning of Dust being much easier. EDIT: The instant deaths I get in BF3 is much more frequent than playing in militia vs proto players in Dust. Funny, I thought when I first started dust (open beta) it was much harder then bf3 being a vet coming from that game. I guess you just have to get used to how the game plays and before you know it, your getting positive outcomes at the game.
You are right, the difference is what you are used to play before entering a match in BF3 or Dust. I just found it funny that my noob experience with BF3 matches all the complaints about Dust from veteran BF players. I had a long break from FPS games when I started Dust and quickly got into the game.
Now jumping into BF when being used to Dust is very different and I can imagine the same applies the other way around. Dust is very different if you are used to BF and slowly moving ahead and killing with just a few shots.
What bothers me the most with BF3 is that there is no consequences of dying, no loss of game currency. Just respawn and run back to the action. And I destroyed a tank with one shot from my started engineer RPG, are all thanks in BF that easy to destroy? I guess you just respawn and jump into a new tank. And both of my games lasted very long, 41 minutes and 45 minutes, is this normal as well? I ran towards my squads members every time to move around with them but for some unknown reason was the only one that got killed whenever someone opened fire on our 3 man group.
I might give it a try again another time, I was the only noob from what I could see on the player lists where several had stars on their emblems. |

No all tanks are not that easy to destroy. Chances are you lit up a tank that was already damaged with a perfect shot. BF3 and Dust are two completely different play styles. There are no shields, or complex shield extenders in BF3. Everyone is the same, thus he who shoots first and actually hits their target wins the gunfight as it should be. No hiding behind a proto suit in BF3.

I started a new ALT in BF3 the other day ( 1st time i played in the PS3 ) and i was in the top of the score boards after 3 matches..and without a mouse ...You don't have SP gaps in BF3.. so "skills" count for something. |

BF 3 EVERYONE has about the same health.
Dust there is a disparity between health. That s it. not rocket science.
Also one is more focused on team play and the other is not.
(battlefield has team play)
Oh come on. Me running around with my AR, and going 10+ kills before dying? You can really can solo there.
Not so much in dust, unless your killing scrubs. |

It takes far less time in BF3 to be able to compete on any kind of even footing.
Dust 514 is unfair in multiple layers. Not to mention BF3 does a better job of holding a carrot in front of the player giving them access to new gear at every new level (without attachment unlocks and achievements along the way). |

lolno
BF3 is a twitchy shooter at best yet i still see ppl running around at full speed soaking up half a clip and not dying but being able to whack me in 5
Shotguns lol 2 shots half the time
I swear BF3 just guesses when you should die even if you get headshots or not, its supposed to be a military simulation or so they say but is very very far of it
Pppl say 'you supposed take your time' 'move up slowly cover each other' BS half the time ******* sprint around like they on meth and soak up bullets
Onto vehicles they are mostly coffins
Take the tank, big, massive, armor plated, i use reactive plates and it means nothing, lolrpg 52% damage caused your instant disable, i have to run a 3man crew with it and lolcannon i can hit someone and get a 92% assist
Helis lol, lolstinger instant disable, thats if you dont get shot out of the pilot seat since they made it easier to take damage
Its an average game at best which has consistantly been dumbed down since release to cope with idiots, tanks and all vehicles used to be stronger and not of this OHD BS that plagues the game now |

you can kill all the folks you want in rush and conquest, but unless you take the objectives you will lose, so yeah team play matters

Yep. BF3 is more noob friendly than Dust. I use to play BF3 but they stop adding new weapons so I stop playing after armor kill. BF3 can be more fun becauae technically everyone is on even playing fields IMO. Game has variety of; game modes, bigger map (sjcks ass on ps3), can also apply stragety to the game (squad rush, rush, some conquest maps) vehicles and infantry are close to balance. But EA/Dice are more experience at "making" shooters and this is CCP first FPS so, gl to CCP.
tl;dr bf3 and shet is different but bf3>dust |

I do like BF3, on occasion. I dislike the lack of consequences from dying, dust has spoiled FPS's for me in that regard. And you should try hardcore mode on it, it's definitely the better mode, people take less damage to die so reactions and situational awareness become more important, a single clip and good shooting can go a long way there. I took out 8 people people in 10 seconds once with a bipod MG,good position, and LOS on a bottleneck, bipods are very useful. |

was kinda meaning TD. But in CQ, AND CFT yeah. RUSH? like hell it is. when I'm in a team, only two dudes seems to be able to sets off the boxes or even touches them. Me and another. always. Its like we are the designated bomb chargers. |

ugh armored kill, what a piece of crap that dlc was. the next two were pretty good though. Scavenger mode is quite fun, all you start off with is a pistol. you have to find your weapons and even then they have limited ammo unless you find the ammo crate. the support guys can not give you ammo in scavenger mode. plus the random earthquakes on those maps make it interesting.

That's not how ranges or balance works, unless everyone just has the same gun. |

Proud member of the AN-94 fan club. burst fire is the only way to use it. Even at close range it can be effective if you have a fast right index finger. I used to pick my nose a lot so I have a fast index finger.
