One small corp has proto stomped, used overpowered weapons, cheap exploit tactics and spawned killed it to death. One corp of about 10 guys. How does that make you feel CPP? A market of a billion people, destroyed by a handful. Slow clap fellas.
After all this time, the server is dead as *****. All this is because CCP has completely failed to make a game for Playstation users. Instead they made a dudebros game for the Eve antisocial type who do anything to win "spying and sabotage is so meta crowd." And they pushed out the playstation FPS players. The keyboard is the first clue.
Why is PC messed up? That crowd. Why are game numbers down? That crowd. "Can I have your stuff?" Why didn't they fix AFK farming? That crowd. Why exploiters aren't banned? That crowd. Why no SP reset on game launch day? That crowd.
What do I think has gone wring? Very simple. They listened to that crowd.
The problems with PC are the same issues as pub stomping, flavour of the week weapons use and MCC AFK farming. A spoiled brat self entitled anti-social EVE player playerbase that CCP doesn't have the balls to smack down for fear of reprisals in EVE.
MCC AFK farmers should have been banned and or stripped of SP starting from day 1. Proper matchmaking via gear restriction tiers implemented so K/D farmers had to fight for it. On 5/14 and end of beta testing all SP should have been reset. Anyone caught using exploits banned.
Why didn't this happen?
Because there wouldn't have been any o'time Eve players left. Hilarious, because instead you would have had your market of dudebros playing their FPS... you know... that MASSIVE market you were trying to break into. Whoops |

Some people AFK in the MCC because they really haven't got a choice due to the other team being pubstomped in battles (Mostly public) making the game seem unfair, but hopefully this changes with the upcoming changes to CalLogi and Flaylock.
But I agree CCP needs to change this game to attract the players back. |

IDK, I think that CCP is starting to head in the right direction.
My fear though is that they will listen to the wrong people. I agree somewhat with what you are saying, though I do not feel that all of the blame can be placed at the feet of Eve players.
There are asshats on both sides of the argument and those are the ones I've seen CCP listening to the most in the past. Therein lies the problem.
The worst elements of FPS gamers here only want this to be some vehicle for their fantasy that they are real athletes. This causes them to do things like protostomp and stroke their egos while berating and belittling everyone who isn't "on their level" (read: plays the game for fun rather than to pretend that they are athletes). This is bad overall for the game.
The worst elements of Eve players here want to see it die at any cost. They'll be shitheads and asshats just because they can and do all in their power to kill Dust before the journey has really begun because they see it as taking resources away from Important Internet Spaceships.
Overall I agree with the basic sentiment of your post, though I feel you are pointing the finger at only a misguided segment of the problem. |

And how would they have known who the afk'ers are? How would they have separated them from the people who went afk for a legitimate reason? Putting gear restrictions in may have been problematic, there are very good arguments against it, and various concerns about the effect it would have. Don't think that just because these things might have happened that the game would be better. For all the rage in this post there is very little sense. |

I guess the game having no new content for so long, or the fact that the game still feels like I'm wading through mud has nothing to do with people leaving?
AFK'ers have no effect on people leaving, in fact some people are still on DUST BECAUSE they can still AFK.
Matchmaking issues has been brought up since early Chromosome. CCP ignored the feedback or was busy taking vacations... so w/e at this point. Nullabor is working on a matchmaking system now, but it's kinda closing the barn door when the horse has already escaped.
How are people exploiting or cheating? You made no example.
SP reset? loooool... if that happened there would be FAR less people playing this game.
No I'm not a lolEVE player. I just wanna shoot people, and when that doesn't feel fun anymore, people will leave. |

I agree with op entirely. The evetards have pushed this game into what it was intended to be. A proto-pub-stomp-fest. So sub-par players can compete with fps from the playstation nation. Dedicated no lifers (eve players) who can proto stomp because they have the time to afk and cap on a weekly basis on multiple accounts. We psn players have played many many shooters, this is all evetards got, so they stick to their guns. Ps4 and planetside cant come any quicker for me.

No-lifers dominate planetside 2 as well. In a game with a leveling system in place, the power will always reside in the hands of the players who have the most time to kill. What can you do? |

Too many responses came in for me to reply to them all but since you disagree and ask a specific question.
First AFK farming is an exploit. SP = Skill, free skills for those who abuse a mechanic, it is cheating. Shooting through MCC walls and shields, dropping R/Es into the hidden pocket on objectives. Shooting through known hollow walls and hills. All this stuff was happening during BETA. They were supposed to be logged and reported, instead the BETA crowd took full advantage. Multiple accounts for passive SP is also an issue, but standard procedure in EVE as I hear.
You defend AFKing for free ISK and SP. This alone most people consider an exploit. It was reported as an exploit, but instead of being fixed.......... became standard procedure for people the game simply does not need to succeed. We'd be better off without them. |

It wouldn't let me have each of your points in a separate quote, so I had to put my answers in the quote box. They're in italics.

What is "a game for Playstation users?"Instead they made a dudebros game for the Eve antisocial type who do anything to win "spying and sabotage is so meta crowd." And they pushed out the playstation FPS players. The keyboard is the first clue. Do you mean the inclusion of KB/M support, or that the KB/M support ain't so great? Why are game numbers down? That crowd. "Can I have your stuff?" If "Can I have your stuff" and "HTFU" keeps makes people leave, I don't understand how all the racist, homophobic chatter in other shooters hasn't made them fold yet.Why didn't they fix AFK farming? That crowd. AFK farming is doable by anyone, and helps anyone who does it. I don't know how it could be attributed to "that crowd" only. Why exploiters aren't banned? That crowd. I don't think it's "that crowd" so much as CCP being slow to act. Exploits in EVE aren't really allowed, either, at least not in the boosting sense. Other things, like "doomcats," are seen as "clever use" and then CCP usually fixes the mechanics. Why no SP reset on game launch day? That crowd. When the beta went from closed to open, everyone was reset. However, when it went from open beta to ";aunch" (launchbeta, really, as it's still missing basic content), there was no reset because it was an open beta. Anyone could have joined, you didn't need special privileges, there were no restrictions. Joining on launch day and insisting that open beta sp be reset is akin to joining now and insisting everyone's sp be reset, because there was nothing game-side wise keeping you out. I even remember seeing ads for the open beta on the PSN. |

CCP never said, nor the CPM, that AFK is an exploit. So your little explanation of why it is, is null and void.
It's a game mechanic. You get SP for time spent in game. I thought EVE is all about HTFU and "adapt or die"... seems people are adapting pretty well to a mechanic in game

I've never cheated in a game, EVER. Not a matter of "principle", but i play to play. I don't boost.
I have AFK farmed though, and only cuz CCP has not said a word about it being a cheat or exploit. There's NO SP POOL so if you miss a week of SP, you don't have a chance of getting it back.
Since I don't really care anymore, and have enough SP for my class, I don't even AFK anymore. CCP can't ban people for something that's not against the rules...
Plus people spent money on boosters. If someone gets their SP reset, or banned for no reason, CCP has to refund them their money. And by no reason I mean, CCP has never said it's against the rules.
You can say it's exploiting if you want. Till I hear otherwise, you're wrong.

The EULA and other TOS pretty much let CCP ban players for whatever they want. A "reserve the right to refuse service" sort of thing. It's not normally abused by developers for PR reasons, but they are not going to refund anything regardless of why they banned a player. |
