Duh, KB+M is always superior. Put console players against PC players any day in a shooter and the console players will get destroyed. Mouse is much easier to aim with and more precise. |

That is why console players have Aim Assist.
It is easier to make fine movements and aiming with a mouse than trying to move your thumbs incrementally with a DS3 - Aim Assist helps with that. |

Funny how they mention they dont want to seperate their community in regards to matchmaking but they're more than happy to seperate DS3 and KB/M users. When everyone starts using kb/m for Dust 514, I'll be looking for another game or just go back to PC gaming. |

CCP Wolfman wrote:-Rotation speed modifiers on dropsuits GÇô we are currently testing the removal of rotation speed modifiers on the dropsuits. I'm really happy to hear they are decoupling move speed and aim sens. for 1.4.
It was a bad mechanic and is really hurting the game.
Honestly... afk through 1.3 and then we can all return to a (hopefully) fun game come 1.4 after matchmaking and aiming is fixed. |

Depends on the Shooter. Take Space Marine for example. There are things that PC players can't do because a KB doesn't respond to soft taps and double inputs. |

And what is it in an enemy's behavior that arouses such suspicion? The way I see it there's plenty of people better at me weather they're using KBM or D3. I've been playing with a D3 controller for months because moving my usb keyboard over from my PC was a pain since I don't have a spare, and the aiming itself didn't feel right regardless. |

Strafing side to side while at same time firing and having good accuracy. It's easier to do on KB/M. 180 in one second, precise firing while at long ranges (usually with a TAR) are other examples.

It wasn't when they initially proposed it, because it had limitations that let it be balanced against the other control methods.
We've just had bitchy-ass PC gamers ranting on and on about how they're "unfairly gimped" and how they should be allowed raw mouse input and no suit-based rotation caps.
If they actually do this, they will have succeeded in fragmenting the playerbase beyond recovery just when it looks like we're back on the right track. |

Actually that is a bad idea. 1. One or the other can over heat. 2. Magnetic memory erasing can still happen these days. 3. If the console tips over, it has a longer way to fall, thus it could damage it more. 4. You can hook up Consoles to PC only games and run them through your console. But using a controller on that setup is impractical. |

Plus you have to consider that in this game it takes a while to kill someone. CCP has to put that into account and fortify the aim assist at long ranges because, lets be honest majority of the fire fights are done in a long range situation and a mouse would be more precise at that range. |

That's simply not true. I've used KB&M time-to-time, and you do better every time because of the "sticky" factor. I could kill someone from 60m out with a submachine gun, because I could glue my site onto them and 78 out of 80 bullets would hit the enemy. That kind of micro brain correction isn't possible with controllers. And I'm kind of eFamous (lol) for my aim with controllers (as I don't play with aim assist turned on; not that it makes any difference in DUST)
There is a reason why KB&M and controller shooters are left in there own worlds. |

I just did that to test a mouse, because I don't have a keyboard at hand... But how can you play effectively without being able to reload, jump, crouch, or select equipment without taking your hand away from the mouse? It's not like it doesn't work, but I can't imagine a keyboard being less effective just because it has no analog strafe (which can even be an advantage at times). Do you have those functions bound to additional mouse buttons? But how would you do that without software drivers?
Anyway, like I said I just tried the mouse, and I have to say I'm shocked... It's absolute easy mode. Maybe this is just because I'm not very good with a DS yet, but the difference is so dramatic, I don't think I could catch up to it with months of practice.
This basically leaves me two options: Become bitter about it (and possibly stop playing), or cave in and move my PS3 to the desk... I am tempted to do the latter, just because I know that I'll be a lot more competitive, just like I used to be in PC shooters. But I can't help but wonder if it's really worth it, because catering to PC gamers on a CONSOLE game is clearly suicide, and why should I commit to a game which has no future...
So frankly, I'm kind of pissed right now. Although a part of me is looking forward to a lot of easy kills... Man... |

I suspect they are worried about removing kb/m cause they will lose half their playerbase.

Man...
My PS3 sits on my desk right next to my computer... plugged in to my second monitor.
I pretty much play this like a subpar pc game. |

Tactical Awareness and FPS experience are the main factors. And I'm kind of eFamous (lol) for my aim with controllers (as I don't play with aim assist turned on; not that it makes any difference in DUST) There is a reason why KB&M and controller shooters are left in there own worlds.
Sorry.. Tactical Awareness and FPS experience are the main factors. I know because some times i play with the DS3 when i want to have a break from the mouse ( I have Repetitive Strain in my shoulder ), and my scores are not different at all. |

controller/mouse is vastly superior. i love how nobody but me has picked up on it either. You mean a controler like the frag fx or PC mouse and controller No, just a regular PS3 controller in your left hand, and your mouse in your right hand i should really make a video of me playing like this, people are always so confused on how it works and how it's even possible to be good like that. How do you push the x, triangle, square, and circle buttons though? Only time I need to press a button with my right hand would be square to reload, which isn't an issue in a firefight because the gun automatically reloads when you're empty, can just move my hand over real quick and do it outside of battle, takes less than half a second
any time I press circle, i know ahead of time i'm going to press it, so i can just move my hand over to my controller in anticipation.
i think bunny hopping is stupid and don't do it, when i'm in escape mode I can anticipate a press of X to jump over railing no problem
an assault player should almost never be using triangle
weapons get changed with mouse wheel and equipment gets selected that way too
Grenades and movement obviously with my left hand. you get more degrees of movement with an analog stick so i have the best possible strafing and best possible aim at all times. |

Which is exactly the problem. You can't market a game to console gamers, if you get an advantage by treating your console like a subpar PC...
I know some people have said they tried KB/M and they play worse with it, but it's not a fair comparison if they never played a shooter with a mouse. What matters is how an experienced DS player matches up against an experienced KB/M player, and from what I can tell so far, it's not even a contest. Now now mouse is even going to get an unlocked turning speed? This is really worrying. |

I call bullshit on that. Yes, tactical awareness is the main factor, but that doesn't mean you don't get a huge advantage from easier aiming.
My only hope is that the issue is exaggerated for me because i've got years of experience with the mouse, but somehow I can't really believe that. It has been a long time since I even touched a mouse, and this was my first try with a crappy old mouse with a cord pulling on it. If this turns the game into easy mode already, I don't want to know what an experienced player with a solid setup can do.
Whatever, I'm going to cave and try out a proper desk setup, this should be very interesting indeed. But if it really works as well as it seems to, I'm not going to kid myself or others by claiming that I could do just as well with a DS3. |

I am an old fart who has been playing FPS games for decades, aiming still seems ten times easier with a mouse and it doesn't take anything away from anything else. And even if experience does count for something (which it obviously does), why do I need another advantage?
Playing with a DS3 is hard mode for me, but I'd much rather learn to overcome this challenge to play fairly with everybody, than to get a cheap advantage by mis-using the console as a PC. |

Type of input does not a good player make. KB/M is no better or worse than controller for input, it is all about what you use and practice with. I know plenty of ridiculously good xbox players that can't for the life of them do the same thing on KB/M. Know why? Because for years and years all they have used was a controller and have mastered manipulating it to make their toon do what they want it to do. It is the same thing for KB/M people that have switched to controllers. Saying one is inertly better than the other is basically saying apples taste better than oranges. |

You have no clue how to game and never will. Why bother trying? you can have just as much fun clicking icons on windows. Go back to pc. Keyboard and mouse takes little to no skill so stop bragging it up like you are superior because you use one. You suck. We know it, you know it, and so does everyone else. I know a few really good players who re-key the kb/m to controller on pc, they dont use dual sticks, they use pads.

Do you know how silly you sound when you say aiming isnt important in an FPS game? Your argument falls flat when the opposite goes true for kb/m making it a null argument. Are you gonna tell me next that if you try hard enough, you can transform your analog controller into a mouse?

Sorry, but are you dense? He hasn't said that situational awareness isn't important. It's as important as tactics are to football, but saying aiming is not important for an FPS is as stupid as saying technique isn't important in football. You need both, and at best you can try to cover up a weakness in one area with excellence in another. |
