We already been there... THAT IS WHY THE MOUSE IS NERF RIGHT NOW. I think CCP have realize now that doesn't give a HUGE advantage. BECAUSE it doesn't.
Tactical Awareness and FPS experience are the main factors. |

controller/mouse is vastly superior. i love how nobody but me has picked up on it either. You mean a controler like the frag fx or PC mouse and controller No, just a regular PS3 controller in your left hand, and your mouse in your right hand i should really make a video of me playing like this, people are always so confused on how it works and how it's even possible to be good like that. How do you push the x, triangle, square, and circle buttons though?
I do that too... I learn to switch from mouse to DS3 very, very quickly ... a bit of and art, really. |

Tactical Awareness and FPS experience are the main factors. That's simply not true. I've used KB&M time-to-time, and you do better every time because of the "sticky" factor. I could kill someone from 60m out with a submachine gun, because I could glue my site onto them and 78 out of 80 bullets would hit the enemy. That kind of micro brain correction isn't possible with controllers. And I'm kind of eFamous (lol) for my aim with controllers (as I don't play with aim assist turned on; not that it makes any difference in DUST) There is a reason why KB&M and controller shooters are left in there own worlds.
Sorry.. Tactical Awareness and FPS experience are the main factors. I know because some times i play with the DS3 when i want to have a break from the mouse ( I have Repetitive Strain in my shoulder ), and my scores are not different at all. |

I know some people have said they tried KB/M and they play worse with it, but it's not a fair comparison if they never played a shooter with a mouse. What matters is how an experienced DS player matches up against an experienced KB/M player, and from what I can tell so far, it's not even a contest. Now now mouse is even going to get an unlocked turning speed? This is really worrying.
Do you think that MAYBE, KB/M users are old farts that has been playing FPS games for decades ? Experience should count for something too. |

I know plenty of ridiculously good xbox players that can't for the life of them do the same thing on KB/M. Know why? Because for years and years all they have used was a controller and have mastered manipulating it to make their toon do what they want it to do. It is the same thing for KB/M people that have switched to controllers. Saying one is inertly better than the other is basically saying apples taste better than oranges. I have mastered both and I still say mouse trumps analog any day. Also baked apples > oranges. Oranges just burn my eyes when they squirt trying to peel them.
Rubbish.. i going to play all night with the DS3 and i can guaranty you that my score is going to be the same.. maybe even better, considering how rubbish the mouse is right now. |

So for dust to support kb/m is really cool so we can all enjoy the fps genre as it is intended to be played. Now i know all u ppl playing with ds3 are kinda boned on this but really learn how to aim instead of relying on the AUTO-AIM function. i really hope ccp will continu to work on kb/m input and that 1 day all the auto aim crap can be put behind us. Read: Old farts need KBM to stay relevant in a console FPS :p Read: Coach Potato 12 year old's want to be competitive FPS gamers using controls designed for platform games. This: Situational awareness is more important factor than type of input when it comes to FPS. Removing wont help you kiddies get gud. And what happens when both players are situationally aware? You guys keep bringing it up when the discussion is about mouse vs gamepad and not about tactics.
Situational Awareness is critical in FPS games....aiming is just the finishing product. If you do everything correctly, you don't even need to be good at aiming.. just.. good "enough". |

Your argument falls flat when the opposite goes true for kb/m making it a null argument. Are you gonna tell me next that if you try hard enough, you can transform your analog controller into a mouse? Also let me reiterate: Doc Noah wrote:And what happens when both players are situationally aware? You guys keep bringing it up when the discussion is about mouse vs gamepad and not about tactics.
You know how stupid you sound saying that Tactical / Situational Awareness is not important in a FPS game ?
Next you going to say that the most Important thing in a WAR, is shooting at everything without tactics or logistics ..just pick a gun and go to war..as far as you can AIM perfectly you are going to be fine... just rush to the front line with your Rifle and kill everyone with you amazing aiming ..
Word of advice ... NEVER JOIN THE ARMY.. you won't last long. |
