I can see only one drawback to it. Lack of incentive to try harder and not loose your gear. But a place to train the muscle memory without the fear of staining one's KDR or making a dent in a wallet is a good idea. Actually this can be achieved in less spectacular way on an disposable alt char. And you can fund now any player not in your corp So while your alt earns ISK, some of it could be spent on new gear and some could be sent back to your main char.
If CCP added a way to put particular players on opposite teams in the same battle. A way to setup a merc/corp duel in pub match via matchmaker... This would be it... |

Good thoughts. Using a disposable alt would mean Battle Academy, over and over...not gaining much ISK. I guess the ISK earned would also depend on how long you kept the alt going.
I like the matchmaker idea. Selectively choosing your opponents/team members would provide an extra training aspect to the whole idea. |

FraggerMike's got the right idea; if it enters Dust, this is how it should be implemented. It might even tie in well with a Corp hub, but I don't think one is necessary without the other. This is a great way to build unit cohesion and camaraderie for a Corp, and limiting it to a set amount of matches a day is a worthwhile limit if necessary. They could even have Aurum versions available that were fancier (looking out for ya CCP)
Noname makes some great points as well. A shooting range would be a great place to feel out weapons until their descriptions are more accurate, and even afterwards a place you could emphasize strengths of a weapon to a trainee. I think a Corp needs to invest heavily in its new members, and this is just one spectacular way to do it, while also improving the New Player Experience (hint hint). Anyways, great thread, lots of great ideas. +1's all over the place.

Yes, the shooting range was an excellent addition to the equation. Good one, Noname. |

Allow us open access to the districts we own to train mercs on and to go hunt NPC rogue drones. Fix PC so there is a benefit above and beyond the limited and rather shortsighted benefits it currently offers. |

The thought has occurred that excluding non-corp members from training with a Corp might not be a good idea.
For example: G.R.A.V.E (insert your Corp name here) could contract out to train, or to be trained by, non-corp members/corps (not that we need it, just an example :p ). Said contract could be for isk, aur, weapons/equipment trade, etc. Yet another way to stimulate the Dust/Eve economy? |

Since there is zero sp being gained, why not. Training Corps, selling Training ops in Training Grounds sounds like a good biz |

Training facilities on PC districts would be a boon to players involved in PC as well as a way to increase the benefits that being in PC brings. It would allow new corps purchasing districts to train their corp members in tactics useful specifically for defending their districts as well as reduce the current "I don't want to do PC" because of X reason to a small handful of players who either don't want to have the hassle or don't want to train and just enjoy doing pub matches. PC battles are often one sided, many of us know this. It is the experienced players that normally do well in PC matches and that is the norm atm. I look at the future and see many more people involved in PC as an option if there were this specific reason to have the districts, open access to train players on them. |

There are doors in my quarters that don't open. Would be nice to walk up to one, access a panel and choose map and holo-match settings, then walk through and into the Holodeck.

This needs to fit the lore. I suggest the "training grounds" to be virtual like how Halo 4 elaborates on why spartans are fighting spartans (if I remember correctly). This would explain how clones are being blown apart with no resources lost.
So yeah, if you make it fit the lore I'm all for it as long as it's corp only. |
