If this is directed at me, I never said that.
The LAV should do what it does to me. Which is pretty much to kill me.
But it should have the effects I listed in my post.
If you were not talking to me please ignore this post.

Wow a lot of people here are butthurt.
New solution: - Move the butthurt to a different academy section, the "I'm anally sensitive" category - Keep the non-butthurt in the current academy

LAV's FTW
Most balanced weapon of the game.
It will be almost impossible for these things to get fixed. In order to fix these things CCP would have to make a fun FPS with great core game mechanics.
So yeah a fix for these things are not on CCP's timetable. They will not be fixed, SoonGäó Sorry Buttercup a fix is not on the Horizon |

Too much QQ in this thread.
Free LAVs can all be destroyed with 2-3 AV grenades - level 1 AV grenades, at that. Balochs only require 1 if their shields are down. Even my full BPO Ishukone Watch Saga will not survive if three level 1 AV grenades are thrown at it (I've tested this myself).
So learn to throw AV grenades and always carry them if you will be in an open area notorious for LAV usage. Also, don't use proto suits in LAV rich maps unless you intend to stay in an elevated position where you can't get run over.

LAVs can no longer cause damage, so running into people will not kill them or damage them. It's the only way. DO IT CCP! Or we can just remove the free LAV's altogether, forcing you to spend SP if you want to murder taxi. No. Murder Taxis shouldn't exist. They're intended for transport or logistics or assault with the turret, you should not be able to run over people. You do realize most murder taxi *bleeps* skilled into LAVs right? Remove the ability for the LAV to damage/kill. Sure, LAVs are primarily intended for transport and logistics, but players should be allowed free reign on how to use those things beyond their intended design. In Eve Online there was this one player who was able to destroy mission-running battleship with just a simple industrial hauler. There was also a time in which batttleships (before mining ships came into existence) were primarily used for mining. What about Chribba? He has a dreadnaught floating in Amarr and he only uses it for mining. Thus the term Veldnaught was coined. Again, another tool being used outside of its intended design yet CCP allowed them to continue. Maken, none of those examples alter the very nature of gameplay for the majority of players. The use of LAVs as a primary weapon does, in fact, alter the gameplay in DUST for everyone. All the time. That is why this situation goes beyond 'sandbox choices' and well into game balance issues.
Yes it does alter the nature of gameplay even in Eve.
In Burn Jita, Goonswarm utilized multiple ships that bump other ships out of warp alignment preventing them from warping out as the gankers warp in and lay waste to them in high-sec space with a suicide gank. As a result, the smart haulers learned to just wait until the mayhem is over before moving in. The dumb ones just keep going in towards their death. Those who relied on the movement of their supplies to meet market demands had their gameplay temporarily altered by this.
Eve Online sees an annual event called Hulkageddon in which anyone with a mining ship in high-sec space becomes fair game for suicide gankers to see who can gank the most for the greatest reward. It has been going on for 5 years already. During that time, many players who rely heavily on mining to provide them with a source of income are unable to safely mine without risking certain destruction because the event encourages players to take ships that are designed to fight combat ships and use them on mining ships instead. Hulkageddon V recorded at least 1 Trillion ISK in damages resulting from ganked mining ships. The market was fluctuating during that one month and thus the gameplay of miners and market traders was altered.
In all cases, gameplay was severely altered because people did things that were considered lame. Again, CCP didn't do anything to stop this despite the outcry of players to stop this mayhem. This outcry is no different than that of people QQing about murder taxis. |
