*Metsar doesn't even flinch at her appearance. Though he himself uses a custom combat clone more reminiscent of his old appearance, he knew many mercs ran the stock clone. And being a hospitaller he works on them often. Metsar leads the way to his desk and takes a seat, pressing a button on the console. Moments later his slave Torsuul emerges with a kettle and a few cups, pouring out two and setting them down. The tea's earthy aroma drifting up in wafts of steam.*
"Thank you, Torsuul." *He takes a sip and turns to Ryeon.* "It is a very good brew Ryeon-haan, enjoy. So were you born in Saiso?"

A grin appears on Kador's face as well. Harsh words had been exchanged between the two, but those had been expunged by the fires of comradeship in combat.
"All is forgive and I hope I caused no offence brother" he said clasping one of the mercenaries pauldrons. " Another body in the fiend is another step forward in God's plan....an another payment in your account." |

The armored mercenary looks at the two Templars a smiles with relief. " Thank you brothers. Now I must be going I have business to attend to in the Jita System. It has been nice talking to you two." She lifts a cup likewise in her gloved fingers, and breathes in the steam. "It has been a long time since I enjoyed a cup of this. Thank you, Templar-- I apologize; I do not know your proper title." She takes a sip.
"Mm. Saisio ... that is the Caldari name for my home system, yes. Saisio three, called 'Achura' by its inhabitants. It's not a cold world like Caldari Prime, but harsh in its own way. Caldari Prime taught the Caldari to survive the world. Achura teaches us to let the world go."
Her bloodless lips smirk. "It likes to break things," she says.
"The Amarr, the Caldari, the Achura-- desert ... taiga ... storms and earthquakes.... It is the places and events that teach humility that make a people spiritual, it seems." |

*Metsar's gaze narrows, and his expression takes on a dark appearance of disgust.*
"The Jove are twisted and deformed monstrosities. They are inhuman in body, mind, and whatever shred of a spirit resides in their malformed bodies. Theirs is a grave sin. To scorn and alter the form bequeathed to us by God. To change His natural processes. And to proclaim such an advancement, an improvement on His work. I care not what such creatures think of us... And before you retort with 'what of our own cloned bodies' I'll say our changes are far from the scale of theirs. And even these bodies we admit are no longer the sacred flesh of our first lives. But of the deviant Jovians... As far as I'm concerned they are daemons lurking in the darkness of the void... And I would see them cleansed from existence... Our empires squabble and fight when we should turn our blades to those abominations. They are our greatest threat."

Our empires squabble and fight when we should turn our blades to those abominations. They are our greatest threat." "Respectfully, Paladin, there is no shortage of opinions on whom the 'greatest threat' against whom we must all unite might be. The Minmatar, the Gallente, and their sympathizers have been trying to unite us all against your Empire for years. Most of those who have worked strongly against Sansha's Nation consider it an existential threat worthy of unity. And then there are the Sleepers, and the rogue drones, either of which has the potential to become a true nightmare if it seemed to have the inclination. Happily, neither seem to be trying to turn entire solar systems into masses of self-replicating war machines.
"And you would have us turn our weapons on a power that rarely reaches outside of its own borders, not on the basis of what they have done to others, but on the basis of what they are? It is rumored that they are dead already. Of course, half of those rumors seem to be spread by pilots of Sansha's Nation, who seem to be afraid of them.
"It must be difficult for a conquering power when it encounters a more potent force, something that may not easily be subsumed, even if all else falls, something with thousands of years of technological advantage, with treasure houses of secrets we cannot guess at and that it may not even have employed within living memory. It must be terrifying for Sansha Kuvakei, knowing that among his enemies is one whose power cannot be measured with certainty, but is probably vaster than any other foe he faces.
"How do you plan for such a thing? Is it even possible to properly prepare? Probably, you just proceed, and hope that either their power has greatly weakened or that you will be able to figure something out when the time comes."
Her tone remains calm, thoughtful, musing; if she intends her remarks to sting, she gives no hint of it in her voice.
"The Jove have been friends to both the Matari and the Caldari, Paladin, likely because we possess no great truths of heaven that we must spread. Their power holds little terror for us, though their gifts have been, in some senses, disturbing. The hydrostatic capsule is not an unmixed blessing.
"Regardless, the cluster is full of would-be genocides. I wonder what it says that nobody can persuade the necessary numbers to agree that their own particular foe must be swiftly and decisively dealt with. Conversely, most of us are somebody or other's great enemy, whether we think we should be or not." |

"Dead Six has ... prospered. We remain small, but our members tend to be highly skilled. Among our number is possibly the best dropship pilot I've ever met, as well as a number of highly-skilled combatants. We hold territory in the Ouryon 'fight club,' and our battles there have been broadly successful. Our circle of allies has expanded.
"Sadly, we seem to be more of a classic mercenary organization than the State-loyal circle of defenders that Shyeer Alvarin originally envisioned. We take on contracts and pursue them, usually successfully. It is profitable work, but our involvement in the Empyrean War has been limited, in part because the soldiers and allies we have collected have varying, if not necessarily very strong, personal loyalties." |

*It takes a moment for the weary Paladin to respond, the shadows of sleep deprivation under his eyes. The downsides to being stubborn about his new existence. Most mercs switch clones, or use resting chambers to minimize sleep. It was marginally known around that the PIE officer rarely switched clones on-station, and preferred natural sleep. However he apparently was having troubling getting much. It took another moment for recognition of the young merc to come to him. He set aside his current display panel and absentmindedly opened his file (he kept some notes on all visitors to the emissary).*

He set aside his current display panel and absentmindedly opened his file (he kept some notes on all visitors to the emissary).* "Ashaltiasten, Knight. What seemed to be the problem?"
" Problem i have no problem. Well beside my profit margins being down. I simply came here to talk about the current status of the 24th imperial crusade. In positive news massive defeats lead to a increase in the war effort. Bad news is we have had massive defeats. "Yes it would seem so, the Minmatar have made their advance and now we must respond. I wouldn't fret too much, these heathens strike out in waves. They won't be able to hold it for long against our forces. Just as a flame at first singes water, in the end the water drowns it. Ours is a battle doctrine of pressure and the Matar will relent in time. As for the other matter, I meant did Mirra specifically decline when you expressed interest in joining?" |
