This is a odd game it needs to go more towards being a FPS for 6 months (aiming, mechanics, etc fill out existing racial dropsuits) then RPG elements need to be layered in |

Yeah. I normally say to play on one account and let another accrue SP passively. The first account is more of a "trial and error" account to see what role they're interested in. Funny thing is a lot of the new players I've played with really like the game. Veterans are the ones with the issues because they have higher expectations. Most new players see a free game as something that shouldn't be very good at all, and to be honest, Dust really isn't that bad of a game. People are just so immersed into the game's politics and development that any move CCP makes that they don't agree with turns into another reason Dust is a failure in their eyes. |

Honestly, I don-¦t talk about Dust....yet. I know that if I start selling the concept of Dust to them now, they will start the game and leave very dissapointed a few rounds later. This is why I will wait til they release patch 1.3 at least.
People who grew up playing Battlefield 1(942), 2 and 3 are not going to be blown away by Dust in its 1.1 state. The free 2 play argument is not relevant because most of them already own multiple FPS with online modes. It-¦s not about the cost, its about the overall quality. |

It's an OK space shooter that has potential to be really good later on down the road. It has slight RPG elements like trait trees that let you specialize into certain equipment or roles, so there is a longer arc than just battle after battle. It is connected to a really deep online world that is affected by PC gamers. When starting out, expect to be cannon fodder and realize that you have this leisure because your suits are more or less free. While you obviously want to avoid death for the sake of your team, don't sweat dying a lot early on. Gameplay is meh at this point, with lots of adjustments happening. Gunplay in particular is meh, and while this may seem like an obvious dealbreaker for a shooter, the redeeming qualities may or may not make it worth it to you.
The price is right, so if you have the HD space to spare, may as well download it and start accruing SP. If you just can't get past the gameplay now, you'll be in place to jump in later if things get tweaked more to your liking. |

I'd tell them that if they want t a breathe of fresh air that reminds them of 'Star Wars Battle Front' Meets 'Halo', I point them to this. I don't have a lot of ideas as to how I'll progress much without AUR, but I think the game has a lot of potential and can be a great place for friends to hang out and be casual gamers and perhaps even serious as time goes on and they gain level in their corporation.
Basically, give it a shot and see if you like it. And perhaps don't get deterred by battle you don't win xD We all have our bad gaming days lol |

While i enjoy this game, I don't mention it to my friends. They're simpletons and easily frustrated by things they aren't immediately good at, or can pick up quickly. I worry that if i were to recommend it to them in its current state, they would log in, get confused by the menus, play for a few hours, get killed a bunch of times then quit never to play again. I feel as though I wouldn't be presenting the best version of the dust experience, and so I hold off hope for the future and improvements in the noob experience |

Don't waste your time, it'll take you 6 months to even be remotely competitive and whilst your trying to get sp to be any good the vets will still be gaining sp so you will just end up having 5mil sp and still being no good ...and if you make a single mistake in spec into skills the sp is basically lost because you will never be able to respec and get that sp back ... you basically have the option of the 4 starter militia classes to play them and dont use any sp .. not a single 1 because they nerf classes and add new ones and if you want to try something out your basically stuck with it if you dont like it ... you'll constantly be up against proto squads so will basically die constantly and lose constantly because the matchmaking is appalling (I never said i was any good but even if i was good it wouldn;t make the slightest bit of difference because my gear is weak in comparison to theirs .. skill may keep you alive longer but death is inevitable if your outgeared) Its really really poor for new players .. probably the most poor game for new players to a game there has ever been on the ps3 obviously that's open for debate but you'll have to scrape the bottom of a barrel to find it ...
game is fun if you've been playing for a year although it gets repetetive but sadly if they dont fix the initial sp system out it will die a very painful death .. they should make the 1st 5mil sp gain faster and then slow it down gradually after that eg if you have 8 mil sp by the time you get to 9m ppl will have gone from 500k-5m .. that would balance the game dramatically .. and then switch to the current sytem after 5m (just like lvling up on an RPG let ppl get to a competetive lvl fairly quickly and then make it hard ater that) having it the same speed throughout means new players don;t have a prayer .. ofc with my suggestion the vets would still have an advanatage but it wouldn;t be to the ridiculous extent that it is now
PS I know someone will say 'you should've started playing earlier' but thats stupid logic .. you started earlier so no 1 who starts after should be able to kill you ? |
