I won't be drinking the kool aid any longer, I will believe it when i see it with my own eyes. Also, those new plates put a sour taste in my mouth for the whole trailer Let's face the facts here, Dust 514 will never be able to surpass what established developers put out. Between their inexperience with the console market, Sony looking over their shoulder, and how ADHD FPS consumers are, it's never going to happen. But if they fire out updates 11 times a year and the don't repeat another Uprising again, Dust 514 will at least be able to compete. It may never be the best, but as long is it's one of the best, that will be enough to keep me coming back.
On a side note, if they can get the Carbon engine to work on PS4... all of my money, just all of it.... |

+1 to Kitten, don't think anything ccp do now would sway me with ps4 around the corner and quite a few descent free games announced for it .
I stuck it out in beta and nothing seemed to be addressed without messing something else up (thats when they did do anything)
I can't be botherd to wait for another 2 years, I waited 12 months and it didn't improve and remember this game has been around for over 5 years already in 1 form or another. |

Then the boot.ini stuff happened so they started working slowly to make sure **** like that doesn't happen again. I think the control issues where they went down the road of trying to balance KB/M with DS3 have done a lot to wreck the overall player satisfaction in this game. Better FPS developers have tried to balance the two and failed miserably, never to try again. 99% of the people who download this game are going to playing in their living room. No one wants to sit under their coffee table to use a KB/M - yet they still went that direction like it was a selling point to anyone other than the 20+ Eve nerds who hooked their PS3 up to their computer monitor. Basically, we have a situation where zero out of the three control schemes work at their optimum and the more they try the harder they fail. I'm going to have to recommend that they dump KB/M for now and get DS3 working right first. It would go a long way toward keeping the occasional new player that shows his face there.
I agree KB/N was a bad idea I've always said that's why the shooting feels off. To many different control schemes. Scrap the rest and focus on DS3.

In my honest opinion, KB/M shouldn't exist on a console shooter. Its far too accurate for controllers to compete. And the best part about consoles is the comfort of controllers. And sure you can use a controller on your PC, but you won't be competitive with the KB/M people, especially without any aim assist. If you are going to implement it, don't restrict it. That's like inviting a homeless man to a dinner and tell him you are only allowed to smell the food. |

A day ago I played 5 matches, and didn't have fun in any.
I just see games like Planetside 2, Battlefield 4 and more, and just think "Why am I still here? 14 months later and not even 0.05% of that 'potential' has been reached". Its an awesome concept, but it was given to developers who are not capable of realizing the concept. |

Some of us have been here since the beginning. We saw the video from E3 that was released 2 years ago.
We saw the potential.
Why are we still on the forums? Because we still have a glimmer of hope this someday might actually be what it should be.

I'm yelling because I care about this game. Its the only game trying to fulfill what I want. The idea of being a space mercenary in New Eden is exactly what I wanted. If this game fails, I probably won't be seeing anything like it ever again. That's why I'm doing it.
There are many games, and I mean MANY, I tried out and just forgot about because they were mediocre. Came back to them a year or so later and I enjoyed them. That's what I normally do.
But this time its different. |

I'm not being a blind fanboy at all... I'm telling you to shut up and take a break. Where in that statement do I suggest that we aren't waiting too long or that we don't need some FPS mechanics fixed, etc.
Throwing the "fanboy" label is great trolling fun and all but when it's clearly not related to what I'm saying you need to stop and think a little bit. It's great that you care. I care too. I'm still able to have fun -- perhaps partially because I'm not worried too much about SP or ISK, who knows.
When I stop having fun I'll go away... for a while... and cool off. |

Doesn't mean its going to be good, just that in this time anyone could surpass CCP. And mind you, this game has been in development for 6 years. Masterpieces were crafted in that frame of time, including Half Life 2. |

This game has been in development for more than that.
Hell, the first "trailer" was at E3 over 2 years ago.
For the amount of time they had, to have this as their "launch", it is one of the worst launch of FPS ever.
Hell, its the first game on console you could spend real money in a "beta".
I have played beta in other games and usually all items were free due to balancing.
I paid anyway, because I believed in the dream.
Now that the beta is over and we arent satisfied with the game, we cant get a refund.
Pretty under-handed IMO. |

Pretty under-handed IMO. To be fair, out of the 5 years of development: 2 were spent making the Carbon engine version of Dust. 3 were spent making the Unreal Engine 3 version of Dust. But still, 3 years is more than enough to get basic things like aiming right -_- |

You know the Walking Dead game was developed in around 14 months and season 2 will also fit roughly in that time span if it releases this autumn like Telltale wants Then there are all the various sports games and COD has a new game out each year but I believe they alternate development teams and I have no idea how much of a break they take between games
Point being a lot of teams are able to publish a game in less than a year and a half and not just publish it but publish it with no content missing and gameplay that is up to the standard |

Most "AAA" games takes 2 years MAX to develop, and that is including the Beta Stages... but... Dust 514 is not a "AAA" game, how Dust 514 is right now, it looks like 1 year of development, and 3 years wasted with other builds. If we start to see improvements in the next few months, CCP will be in target for the average development rate for this type of games. |
